19:20 has this guy ever watched a movie? There are movies where the camera angle is on the speakers back panning to the other cast to show how each character reacts to the speakers lines. I am not sure what the technical term is but, it exists.
yea, his point of view is just wrong in alot of eastern cultures. just because you are from Singapore, influence by western culture alot, that isnt the whole Asia's point of view. you do not need to look at their eyes to be "respectful." google "eye contact in eastern cultures" for more insight.
When someone says wuwa's bad. I often see them going : " Giving players choice to skip story is them admitting their story is weak " or " Fixing a bunch of a bugs when it could have been fix so easily in 1 day in the first place means the devs are incompetents ". It's wild to me.
They would nitpick stupid delusional or super subjective stuff for weird minority (like being offended by skin) and at the same time they will ignore all flaws of Genshin. Genshin in many ways feels cheap - I often hear compression artifacts in voices and even smaller indie games have basic (sound based) lipsync but Genshin just can't do anything even after years for english voices... And yeah, Genshin design is "perfect" and "tasteful" - especially all these femboys...

Still watching the video. Good video so far btw. I've already seen this dude's video and I do think 10 hours is enough for a review. My reason why is that if you're not having fun within 10 hours and you need to play a lot of hours to "reach" the fun. That can be a conversation. However. His video felt unnecessarily nitpicky and some of the complains can just be explained by saying "Why change something that works." or "The game was just released. Give it a month or two and it should be fixed." Also. His thoughts about the characters showing a lot of skin is a subjective opinion and due to the common reoccurrence of subjective opinions, it made me thing that this video was just a vent video and nothing I'd take seriously. Instead of viewing things objectively, He goes off on emotional rants about aspects he dislikes. Saying that afk voice lines activating after 25 seconds is not something that would ever matter in whether or not I play the game. He spends 3-4 minutes on topics that could simply be explained within 30 seconds. To sum up my opinion about this: The review was clickbait and trash.

This game led us to multiple tutorials including exploration stuff and combat wise and I did take time to read them. This guy doesn't even mention anything good about gameplay, he's just brief "yeah, the combat is good but idc cuz I'm here to nitpick anyway". If he could explain why in detail why combat system, echo system, gacha system is superior then suddenly ppl will not listen to his rant anymore. I think 10 hours is enough to know if you’re having fun or not in a game, or say something about stuff that you found yourself enjoying or stuff that you didn’t like. But it’s not really enough for a review especially for a gacha game that is meant for long-play. Not enough especially to title the whole game “a disappointment”. A lot of people are probably mad over his choice of words in titling as if he had major issues about the game to talk about but in the end it’s mostly him going on about minor nitpick.

First time I heard someone complaining about cinematography because the camera angles changes. I think this person isn't just not vibing with Wuthering Waves, I guess. EDIT: I do find the Chinese names hard, but that's because I am not Chinese, and my first experiences of WuWa was playing it on release. I think it's really cool getting a heavy Chinese-inspired region actually was what kept me very interested in Jinzhou. I thought the gameplay carried it despite the story, and 10 hours in you get to the first encounter with Scar if you're playing the story, which is such an interesting moment in the game in the best ways~~~
Think it's more the fact that they're trying to avoid facial animation so they jump behind the character to skip the process of Animating that but idk Its a non issue, many games do this for efficiency.

I can explain the clock thing. A lot of kids are being raised in digital households these days and many don't have the traditional clock with the "hands" so less and less kids know how to tell time using a traditional clock. Basically the dumbed it down. WuWa has the best gatcha banners in any gotcha game I've ever played.
As a korean, im so glad that i can play hsr and wuwa in korean with korean readings of all of the hard chinese names. Much easier to distinguish and remember than just having romanization of chinese names

I kinda get why some people would agree to this guy, but what i didn't like is the constant mention of "genshin impact". Genshin this, genshin that and i get it, it's the biggest competitor in it's genre so the resemblance and constant comparison will always be there. But in this dude's case, he isn't giving WuWa the benefit of the game's own identity. He just played the game to find whatever negative he can then have the comparison to point out. He's pointing out things like the side scrolling of changing time, but if it's just a clock(like genshin) for sure he'll point out it's resemblance as well. There's no room for this dude. We already have tool to have 120 fps in WuWa and i don't have problems with performance after applying it. But i gonna admit that we need more booba shots with camera angles in cutscenes (even for NPC's they very fine) 😀

Bruh , the point where he nitpicking camera angles shows me dudes know his cinematography stuff. i kinda agree with his point on that. on the other side which HSR story shots slow pan shot and close ups while talking it's so based cause it gives you attention to who is speaking. But hey i guess hex did not know that stuff and it's ok. Idk why people has been glazing on Wuwa story quest so much, but without even taking EN VA into consideration the story was bad. I'm not saying that in a negative kinda way, but i think if people are honest about it kuro will definitely try to make it better next patch.
to make it more simple, Doing 9h of HSR quest and by the end of it, "it was worth it". Doing 9h of wuwa quest and by the end of it, "it was ok i guess?" The plot was there but the writing and dialog was missing. And those two are the biggest components in story telling.

I have watched this video and even commented on his video. So far, I agree with Hex's reaction and comments. Personally, I think I played Wuwa for 50 hours or more, enjoying it so far, even though I am not challenging myself on the harder fights.
I like learning new names. The only problem for me is transliteration of Chinese names, especially the X letter that is overused for many different sounds.
I think while this is a negative video, guy ain't wrong. There is an incredible amount of cope from WuWa CCs right now. Its 2024, not 2020 and all we get is better (much better) combat system while the rest is wholecloth copy of Genshin with some QoL. After 4 years praise for a small iteration on the existing formula is like breaking away from abusive relationship and going into a one where you get abused less often. I play WuWa daily since the release and while i enjoy it, i just dont see any longevity here. If all Kuro wanted is to take away some Genshin (or ex-Genshin) playerbase, thats fair. But they aren't really getting anyone else.
Playing this game daily and not seeing all the things it does better than genshin in its first patch alone is crazy lmao...umm while everything isn't perfect I can't explain how excited I am for the future of this game...

Kuro managed to qol+ existing baseline, but outside of holograms and illusive realm (which is also only iteration on HSR SU) there is basically nothing 'new' here. And i dont want better genshin, i want a good game. Kuro devs agility and updates are good (probably even _too_ good), game is fun, but its not a revolution of any kind.

And that's perfect, but look at PGR compared to HI3 at launch, compared to where it is now. Night and day. HI3 really barely innovated on its formula, but PGR added so many modes that I do not even really find in other games. I imagine the OP's hope for variety and expansion will be reached. Just right now, they're getting the base down so it's reasonable it's not a huge departure. Genshin 2024 is no different than Genshin 2020, afterall.

32:22 I've played games that took a lot longer than 20 hours to actually get interesting, and still ended up being great (looking at you FF14.) But while the story in WuWa takes a while to ramp up, the gameplay is fun right away. You're 3rd fight (maybe 4th, whatever) is with Crownless, and it's a good early moment. I know when I played the game, I stopped doing the story in act 2, and went out and explored and had fun for a bit. I also did this in act 3. Maybe the game would benefit from having some kind of min union level to do the first couple story acts, just to get people doing some different things. And then once they get to act 4, let them just do the story, since from tgere it fliws together better.

The scroll for text on mobile did *kinda* work but is finicky: if you don’t touch hold and slide exactly right it registers as a tap and skips. The presentation of “back to the camera” he’s complaining about is called *cinematography*. Over the shoulder dialogue 2-shots are used in movies and TV (often focusing not on the speaker but on reaction shots), as well as the camera showing a direction of gaze then cutting to the subject of gaze etc. It’s like he’s never seen a movie and only plays Genshin and Bethesda games so can handle nothing but center-framed talking heads. Never show him games like Cyberpunk or Horizon, he might have a fit from all the subjective camerawork. Also, I lost it when he started going on about the characters scandalously exposing their *shoulders*
The battlepass comparison is such a bad take. Yes they're the same but it's a case if "if it's not broke don't fix it." It just makes sense, every 5 you get a stamina pot, every 10 you get currency, and in between you get credits, and each type of exp item. It just balances well and works.
I will never understand people reviewing a game they only played for 10 hours that's literally like sitting down and standing up like wtf did you even gain bro. Also Act VI was lit as f*ck so many cutscenes and it was intense I liked it they even introduced 2 new mechanics (I liked the part where we can destroy projectiles by attacking them).

Arknights has a shitty Gacha system, painful resources farming, character showing lots of skin, BUMPY story that can be summarized in a sentence or two. " race war, medical stuff". I'll wait for Arknights Endfield to come out and see what's his take on it since yk all his nitpicks might also be on it also Arknights Endfield looks like it would have a lot of optimisation issues as well since dude the graphics looks amazing as well ++ note that arknights global is behind arknights CN with a 6 months time gap
Yeah I also watch him to for Arknights guide and character overview but this video he made is the worst thing he could have made. He nitpicks a lot of things in wuwa that would not be a big deal such as the battle pass rewards and yes the gacha is not as forgiving as genshin, star rail or wuwa. It doesn't have a guranteed after losing 50/50 which is very painful to experience.

I still play both but my god i got spoiled after playing WW non stop for whole day and then swtiching GI to do dailies and Clorinde quest. The movement felt so clunky in GI that it felt like slow motion with dash dodges etc Still i dig both. EDIT. That dude is massive Hoyoverse shill, ofc WW takes things that worked in GI and improve upon it. Games should always be made like that, take something that is known to work and improve up on it.

Honestly he has some shit takes but he mentioned some things that indeed should be improved, the names yep too many unfamiliar names to the western audience playable characters, places and NPC names take a looooooooot to get used to, if a quest tells me to go and meet yungpingyang I have to make a double take on some characters because they do have some names we aren't familiarized with, on that front Genshin going with short names for almost all their CN based characters made them easier to get used to.
genshin and hsr are the exact same with the lack of personality and like your choices dont really matter in dialogue ... if anything the jiyan thing in chapter 5-6 actually had some dialogue changes xD

Hmm, I was expecting a full on shilling from this guy. There were some points I agree with him on: accessebility toa western audience is tough when the first locaition is the china area. The camera angles and the story pacing was also very annoying to me. There were some topics that I find arbitrary like the battle pass, and the character models. Points I agree with Hex Juice on: The character models are spot on. The gatcha is better, (not good inherently). Gatcha models modeled on PGR (Assured weapon type pity) Constelation purchasing(farming). I respect any game that permits you to farm constelations outside of the gatcha system. The only other games than WuWa and PGR that i know of that allows you to farm constellations of most premium characters is another plane. (that game has its own balancing problems) (PVP). In all his takes weren`t all bad.

im someone who skip everything i just want to play and fight bosses and improve my mechanics ingame. so i dont understand people talking about story im freaking happy there a skip button so im not gonna read and watch a story not to my liking and im playing at my phone 30-45 fps im doing alright i cant dodge perfectly but never in my life i blame on any gane i play i just blame myself skill issue as people say. while other playing 100+fps and cant still dodge then blame the game i dont know whos the real problem😅

To be fair, he latter poart of the story was awful too, because it had next to 0 buildup, the enemy had next to no characterization, nor we were shown how dangerous they were, and new phenomena and characters were just put there out of thin air (the rain thingy, plus every character that wasn't blue hat, chixia, white dragon girl, politician, general, and monk. It was also quite puzzling to see Verina--a kid--on the frontlines, rather than in the backlines healing wounded people). The whole plot to catch scar was handled poorly as well. And before someone brings up that Hoyo stories aren't good eitehr, yeah: they are badly written. In general, writers for gacha stories seem to be clueless about the core principles of writing.
