I think what’s best regarding the skip function and story, is that if someone wants to skip, there will be a brief summary given on what happened and then the player can be on their way. A great example of this being done is Granblue Fantasy.

On the F2P argument Smack brought up. It isn’t so much that you are ‘BAD’ or ANTI-studio just for opting into a free to play experience and are then advertising that you are doing so. Owning that decision and running with it is fine and anyone who tells you otherwise is indeed a dipshit. The issue is more along the line of what Teccy is doing where he goes free to play and then preaches about it to his own audience, telling everyone they should be doing this thing, and even ostracizing people who aren’t, setting a new precedent within his community that whaling or spending in general is “what idiots do”. That’s where I feel like there is a kind of anti-studio message being attached to a decision you are making for yourself. You have to keep in mind, and Asmon actually made a video addressing this recently, Gacha studios genuinely do make a HUGE portion of their revenue off their respective whales. Those post monthly revenue reports that we all post up and marvel at, make videos about l, etc. those numbers come from banner sells, and subsequently are contributed to, in no small amount, from whales, and even casual spenders. So what Teccy does, (and don’t get it twisted, I’m like a 4 year tectone sub, not a hater by any means. the dude is a riot and I have mad respect for him in the grand scheme) when he starts preaching his F2P gospel and showing such a strong response to people spending in WuWa, and thusly starts influencing people to STOP spending at all, is 10000% harming Kuro’s bottom line, it IS decreasing monthly banner revenue. It’s not a good thing for them. Now if you were them and you see a guy who has notoriously whaled upward of $80k in their primary competitor’s game in the past, yet is not only opting out of spending anything in Kuro’s game but also actively deterring others from spending…. It’s just not the greatest look from someone who’s been trying to outwardly support the success of a studio. And yes I’m well aware he is making them a fortune through exposure revenue and content advertising, as are all the CCs showcasing WuWa. But the group of people whom he has basically peer pressured into not spending money on characters and the like, are NOT making Kuro money. They are just now squandered capital caused indirectly from Teccy’s “F2P or get the fuck out the way” gimmick. Ya’ll are cookin though and we all do want to see kuro succeed and stand toe to toe with MiHoYo. Just wanted to point out there are some nuances to this whole debacle. Outside of then retards that just go to bat out of some parasocial sense of justice or coping mechanism. Anyways that’s all I wanted to point out. Cheers boys! 🍻

So glad that WuWa ended up being as good as it was thought to be. Although there are a few flaws and optimisations that are needed, the game is a solid 8/10 so far :)

They need to find a new voice director. They choose the recordings to go with and need to tell the actors how to do the lines

Volkin spoke some really good negatives specially the teleport ones. They really should fix that hassle.

I will say, that while they arent amazing or anything, i do like the en voices, even yangyang. I assumed her voice was meant to be kind of monotone at first but he's right, her personality doesnt really match with her monotonous voicing. Aside from the voicelines being cut off entirely too often (or at all really) yangyang's voice is the one that could use the most improvement.

Yea when some lines are delivered i do hear the reverb of the booth they record their lines in. It sounds so weird.

I didn't mind the EN voices as much as most, but omg some of that voice direction really does come close to reminding me of NBA 2k15 at times 🤣 it feels like a lot of the VAs were just given zero context as to what was actually going on in game during their lines

I am surprised people aren't liking the tone of the voice acting for the main characters. I absolutely LOVE yangyang's tone. I love everything about the character. I do think over time they will flesh the characters out a bit as they hone in on their personalities but I'm enjoying most of it. The slightly cockney English voices feel out of place. For the record, I am a cockney Englishman. But so far, apart from that, I'm loving the story. It really feels like a solid foundation to set the story on. The world building is great. I already have a good idea of the history and social/economic ideas of jinzhou and this is literally the first tiny parts of the story. Can't wait to see more of jinshi in the next patch.

I feel good playing Wuwa. Like it's really enjoyable to me. Love the echo, opening and closing mechanics. Very smart move by Kuro to remove elemental mechanics! Wuwa stands on it's own identity.

I love this game so much that when it came out on the 23rd on Sunday when my phone gave me my app weekly usage I had already put like 50+ hours into it..

i agree with wuwa is just better graphicly cause it use unreal engine, but genshin and hsr uses unity i think. But it really requires a higher pc/mobile requirement, many hsr and genshin players trying to play Wuwa being gapped by that requirement. But Wuwa graphic is actually good, need to improve the loading on some texture on open world cause they loading all of that together (some framedrops may happens) these CC not really look the difference cause they have top gear pcs, but for me it drive me nuts on my potato but playable 60fps hsr genshin or even some single player games, wuwa running on max 30 fps but sometimes even 1 frame per 3 second of gameplay. Really hope they fix most of it cause it promising for me

The best analogy I can make: I play D&D as a game master, there are many different kind of players. There are players who can play 4 hours with no combat, but with just story, lore and roleplay. Then there are players who just want to fight. Then there are players who want puzzles, challenges, and exploring and finding relics and weapons. A good game master must find the balance that keeps them all engaged. The more styles you can attract the more players you have. Right now wuwa is missing on story and lore big time. Exploration is only so/so. They are winning at combat, and character design is mostly good.

27:16 if anyone is wondering why that makes the game look better, it's because this "brightness" slider is actually gamma. They're two completely different things. If anything, think of it closer to contrast than brightness. Just so happens this game needs it to be a little lower.

YES IT IS. The game has only been out for a week or so and it checks all the boxes for a game I will keep playing long term. Great story, engaging gameplay, an expansive, well-thought-out world, excellent characters and lore, a creative dev team really trying out new things with good effect, and most importantly a dev team that actually cares for the player base, evident in most aspects of the game. It's been an absolute treat so far, and I'm sure it's only gonna get better.

Lmao I feel like people are forgetting why a lot of Gachas are successful. It’s definitely not because of combat that’s for sure.

WuWa has been a blast. Spent an hour trying to fight one of the challenges but kept losing to due to skill issue.

I really hope they announce mobile platform controller support. I have a gaming computer but will be traveling to my home town for 3 months, so my only option to play will be iphone or my ipad (ideally iPad with controller). But playing this game on phone is difficult since I almost never play games on my phone (other gachas have either been on PC or ipad with controller). I am surprised that controller support for mobile was not a thing upon release, especially since this game is from a Chinese company and mobile gaming is king in China.

For me, the best optimizations they've been doing so far is that my potato PC can run almost smooth now. No standing still slide when dashing like in the first day, no 2 mins loading screen, the camera moves way slick now, etc. Dang, i sure love this game!

I am older with arthritis and i quit genshin cause i could not do end game because of the combat system and amount of button mashing needed. . This system is much easier, smoother and easier to master imo. Also more satisfying.

All the side quest have skip button which I am glad but I personally wouldn’t want to skip the main story .

I appreciate "GOOD" story - the majority of the story was a snooze-fest, set aside Rover cutscene and when Rover ambushed the 'stalker' (didn't mind the Encore/Alto scenes as they were cute) - I personally didn't enjoy the Scar/Lamb stuff because it was mostly still-capture images - as much as I hear people enjoyed that part, I wanted throw my phone at the wall when I couldn't skip that sh** for like 5 min. But agree completely, you shouldn't force people to waste their time watching bad cutscenes/dialogue - it's an egregious waste of people's time (agree changing it to Japanese or anything not English made it so much more enjoyable). I see why Genshin forces you to watch that sh** because that's literally all it has, the story and the music (which sadly the badass composer who did the best tracks left). This game has way more than what Genshin offers - don't force people to watch the bad parts of it half the people I want to get into this game won't be able to get past that horrible story pacing the first 6 or so hours.

The topic about mastering three teams. It's not that confusing once you're into it. Right now with just imagining it of course it looks troublesome. It's not that different than Star Rail with DoT FuA break etc, Genshin National freeze taser bloom etc, and other multiple teams in any gacha games you've played.

35:13 well I think that is potentially a massive over estimation. A lot of that will depend on how many standard banner pulls we get/patch. If it is only 10-20, unless you are super lucky you might not get a lot of weapons since there is no way you are wasting the currency on it. I also really don’t like the weapon banner using a separate type of wish, because now all the limited banner pulls we get for free can’t be used on the weapon banner. So for example if I get lucky and pull the character super early, I can’t use my leftover pulls on the weapon banner. Not the end of the world, just a bit irksome.

Just running around and killing stuff makes this game a 10/10 in terms of fun.

You guys mention skipping only being added after the issues on day 1 but that's not true, you could already skip pretty much everything that wasn't main story quest before it. They just added a couple more skippable scenes. So yeah Kuro games is just based from the start, not a thing they did to please people after making a mistake.

I’m with Volkin. The story is WAY too long and drawn out. If there’s a cut scene I can’t skip I’ll get up, take a leak, make a sandwich, get a drink then I come back and they’re STILL talking.

the fact that i can skip all the side quests dialogue give me the opportunity to enjoy the main story and the game itself more. gotta give props where props are due

This is the first time I’ve ever ran out of things to do as low spender(BP, daily login thing). I got no quests left, I got 100% Echos, I’ve cleared everything except Level VI holograms(Not level V lightning guy), and I’ve done the tower up to but not including the middle red section.. I don’t think it’s the games fault though lol

Wait, is there a skip button for main story scenes too?? I only see it for side quests. I'm using a controller so it's usually the LB button which shows up on the top left, but not for main story scenes. Also, I wanna get into the lore but the storytelling just isn't executed well. It's just too much exposition and info dumping with unintuitive proper nouns (which is also a problem of some of the game mechanics' names).

The flying one on the phone you just have to tap sprint on and off. The timers are all very forgiving. The gun ones on mobile are way worse for me than the flying ones cause of how slow they feel

The issue isn’t the streamers themselves going free to play, it’s all of them telling their audience to also go free to play, and if the audience listens that is a huge cut to their revenue (altho most of their earning will probably come from the CN community anyways so who really cares what EN content creators and their communities are doing)
