finally, someone who actually gives a fair review and doesn't hate the game because everyone else does! I finished this game yesterday and loved it. it has it's flaws yes and there are things that I wish were left out completely, but they didn't take away my enjoyment of the game on another note, the reason people complain when a game has too many collectibles is because the goal for most people who play collect-a-thons is to 100%. if there are too many collectibles, it drives people crazy trying to get them all. one of my biggest problems with Yooka-Laylee was the quills. 200 is too many to have in each level and several times I found myself needed 3-6 quills to get them all and had to go around each level multiple times to find where I could've missed some which became very frustrating
yeah I thought Yooka Laylee was a bad game too because of The BitBlock's vlog on it... Then I saw Gillythekid's video about it and was ever so enlightened... And I now regret watching the former video because it's full of bullhonky and taking it as gospel... It's pretty much the worst BitBlock video of this year as it has some of the stupidest things to come out of Josh Thomas' biased mouth. What I'm trying to say is... Don't take negative reviews of divisive games as gospel or devalue people's opinions.
Dunkeys review issues actually come from a place of dissapointment. He actually understood the title, in contrast with Jim Sterlings review, which was a mess which actually complained a collect a thon was a collect a thon... I actually dont dislike negative reviews, even though I would give the game an 8/10, if you want to see a negative review with pretty good criticism, watch Snowmans gaming review.
If you keep doing these videos, it might take a year or two but you are definitely going to hundreds of thousands of subs, ive seen it again and again, your content is of very high quality.
If you're a fan of the genre, well worth the play. Yeah, it never hits the heights of the greats, but it does everything sufficiently enough, only the Retro Rex stuff really felt like a slog to me. I'd say it was average at worst, certainly not a bad game.
Hello, I at first was waiting for a kind of BK game.. But then while playing it it felt more like mario 64.. With the adult jokes in felt like conker lol then the very little item to get in a BIG world felt like DK64.... Then I said "Ooohh... Its a Yooka Laylee game. It was easy for me to understand this concept for I grew up in those years in Sega dream cast, ps1, PC and N64.. And most of these types of games were looked at as "its like a Zelda!" or its kinda like Final Fantasy, or its a crash bandicoot or ect. With more comparing... Back in the day we compared games to what it had.. Not to what it needed, and that started after (1st Xbox) was bragging about its games and abilities.. Diddy kong racing was not better than mario kart 64 ... We simply saw it as two different worlds.. That was awesome! We can play each games with 4 friends on the same system, take it to a friends house! and it still felt like its still together with DK in mario kart and diddy in his game. Life was about a new way of seeing a new world and for a moment forget your playing a game and back to imagination.. Bc thats the first time u can see another 3D world thats not real and it has life. Other than what you've seen. Those who did not play games in the order way we did growing up (arcade, nes sega N64) will have a harder time grasping that concept. Its a Fantastic game but not for everyone.. There is ONE THING I DIDN'T like.. (No loss of data for loosing a LIFE.) its more of a love and hate thing.. Love it bc it needs it... But hate it bc you loose.. Thats a big part of Collecting in games.. A treasure hunt.. But if u die..u should loose something other than a location of where u were at.. Lol in the beginning of the game after I opened the 1st book I would want to die as a means of teleportation... Soo... Die to teleport where you need to be if flying was taking a bit too long just die. =] its so much better.. Dont worry no Game Over here. Your safe even when you die. Grab the feather then die. Wala your All the way back across the level in just a second. ... Dont use this doing mini games or bosses... =]
Actually there was this one whatshisface guy, pretty popular on the tubes, who made a 2 hour criticism of that claiming it was.. essentially.. super boring to 100% if you don't happen to be entertained by the fundamental mechanics of the game. Goes though every single star or whatever and tells you how boring EXACTLY that one was for two hours in total.
The N64 Platformers were amazing! This game got sooo much hate on release probably due to not being as great as the Banjo Kazooie games. Found this game on G2A for $4, I am going to buy it.
i never played any banjo games or dk 64. so my expectations for a 3d platformer are quite low. think i will enjoy yooka laylee as well as a hat in time.
Mighty #9 was a famous Kickstarter game that came out last year. It was supposed to be the successor to MegaMan, and it ended up being a pretty rough experience. Because Yooka Laylee is a Kickstarter game based off of Banjo Kazooie's legacy, many are comparing the two. For what it's worth, I believe Mighty #9 has A LOT more problems than Yooka Laylee does.
NIKMOE Same here! I don't feel like owning Mighty No 9 after the the development hell that game went through... Yooka Laylee just seems like a better option for middle of the road games... And I'm really sad that Jon Tron and his scandal ruined what could have been a fine game at best and an okay game at worst.
Tommy Deonauth's Archives I wonder if the Jon Tron thing affected sales. It turns out the biggest selling point of Yooka Laylee was also a massive cross to bear
Huh never heard of that story, didn't know the two entities were anyhow supposed to be connected. I never even watched the guy, only hear him mentioned once in a while because of what he allegedly said. Don't think the world at large cares at all about him outside the little RU-vid echo chamber. If he was popular enough, he served his purpose in promoting the game in spite of being kicked out, nobody would really make a purchase decision based on whether he's in it would they?
How are you gonna "explore" a linear small area ? Everything would be obvious. This is blatant nonsense. People are full of sh!t Also why are Yooka Laylee's world's bigger than banjo Kazooie's ? Because banjo is a 23 years old game !
This game is not worth buying I have been playing itHalf the time the game be like no you have to get an ability first but then you have to raise the stupid cheating cloud I hate this game so much
