Regardless of age you still need all the ingredients that make your relationship work. These ingredients will probably be different for everyone. I do agree with you Dan that supply and demand and demographics play a large role in age gap. The median age in the Philippines is 25, which increases the chance of an age gap. It's the old joke of I only date younger women because at my age almost all the women are younger than me. I do think that the person who has the most power in a relationship also has the most responsibility. This power dynamic could change over the course of the relationship so the responsibility can shift. As long as there is no coercion or abuse and everyone is of legal age, I don't judge because relationships are complex and changing.

I'm 52 and my filipina is 28, we're still happy and going strong for 6 years now. Not once has she asked me for money. I was lucky enough to find one that was raised right and she's also a college graduate. I've heard all of the nightmares of people meeting the bad ones but some people put themselves in those situations and rush in like fools. My rule of thumb, never go looking for one in a bar. When you eventually do find her, take it slow and get to know each other, also meeting her parents can also show you if she was raised right........but never stick around if she or the family starts asking you for money because that will never end well. Good women are out there, you've just got to look in the right places.

As you know I married in the Philippines (on Camiguin Island) in 1998, before Tinder, Cell Phones, Face Time, and all these dating websites. I made several trips, and we wrote back and forth for many years, before we decided to get married. I spent time with my wife's family (parents, brothers) when I visited. Dan as you mentioned many times, you have to put your boots on the ground, same in a relationship, you need to spend some time together with her and her family. Living life to it's fullest is up to you as a individual but if you have a partner of like thinking then how much better that would be. In my thinking a marriage certificate is just a formality that affords more entitlements. There are more than just age gaps to be aware of in a relationship with a foreign-born. Today I showed my wife a Gary Larson cartoon. He is an American who was very popular in the 80s and 90s, sold millions of books. His humor is offbeat and/or dark. I knew I would have to explain the joke completely for my Vietnamese wife. Our gaps: Culture gap: Cartoons are uncommon in Vietnam. I had to describe the setup, visuals, caption. Sense-of-humor gap: Humor is so culture-centric. There are many styles in the west which are mysterious to Asians: wit, satire, tongue in cheek, puns, insults, slapstick ... Native language gap: She is English fluent, but her vocabulary is maybe 1/10 of mine. I had to explain words and expressions like 'trouble brewing', falcon, falconry, tea cup poodle. Age gap: Not so relevant in this example, but recognize that even in the same county, a couple won't have the same perspectives, knowledge of cultural references, movie stars, music, politics. Old people don't know new expressions, young people don't understand obsolete language. Economic class gap: Her family was poor, I was middle class. We have the most fights about money, as she doesn't want to spend, only save. I see money in relative terms, i.e. I don't care if a hotel room costs 10% more, whereas she sees only absolutes: $5 more is $5 lost! The moral is: A cross cultural/age/language match heaps extra challenges to the already difficult task of building a good relationship. Age gap relationships are more the focus of others who are used to the norm of a few years difference. As the gap widens, it's harder to have more commonalities. Obviously, the physical capability is not the same. The thing to keep in mind is that we are all different and have individual likes and preferences. The essential of a big age gap relationship is whether or not the partners are fulfilling each other's needs. Communication, understanding, tolerance and the ability to compromise are all very important. A younger woman can be drawn to the intelligence and stability of an older individual and that could be the chemistry. If this individual takes good care of her and is kind to her, maybe that's all she needs. To sync their goals is possible but not probable. The age number is also not the same for everybody. When I was 50 I married a 21 old, but I was not your normal 50. I was in excellent shape and could pass for 35-40 at the time, so the 21 year old was actually physically attracted to me and she was very mature and intellectual for her age and we did have a lot of common interests. It lasted 7 years and it was all good. It wasn't about money (I didn't have much at the time) and it wasn't about a green card (she was already an Asian US citizen) But, as you grow and age, sometimes the goals don't remain the same and so we amicably parted ways.

I am 68 and my wife is 29. We have been together for 11 years and we don`t care what people say. As long as a relationship works well for both, then age doesn't matter and yes, I know she can be my nurse in the future, but we live in the present and not in what might happen in 1- 5-10-20 years. Filipino women are not very good at communicating about life outside the Philippines, there is showtime TV, soap operas, and such that applies as much to women in their fifties as those in their twenties. People simply have to understand this before thinking that they will find a woman with whom you can talk about anything because everything is next to nothing in the Philippines regardless of age based on their limited education. Philippine women are popular because they are more old-fashioned, almost like women were in the US 100 years ago.

😂Age is a bigger issue in some cultures than in other. My 1st wife was twice my age. 32 to my 16. My second was my age, Third was 13 years younger. Today my junior wife is 41 years younger and my senior wife is 36 years younger, July will be our fifth anniversary. We be as real as you can get.

Funny I was just thinking about the age gap thing. I met a girl last year. We met through a friends wife’s sister kid. I’m not rich at all I tell them and I can’t have kids been fixed. We split because of that. But we keep in touch but recently she’s been calling me knight and day again wants to be boyfriend girlfriend I do like her I do find myself gravitated toward her but the issue in my head is she’s 24 I’m 58 so I don’t know if that’s too big of an age gap or not, we have fun she’s funny.
