I've never read a book so fast! ru-vid.comUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU Learning about his dogs and experiences was just the icing on the cake - bed this book through and through. We're working with our new pup and Brandon's advise was just what I needed. Wish he'd just come and train for me haha but it's good for us and happy to have this new set of tools to use on our pup.

I had a GSD/Malinois mix and she was hilarious when I'd taught her to jump onto things on command. She quickly figured out that Mom for some strange reason liked when she jumped up on big stones in the woods. "I jump up - I get snacks" was her reasoning so she jumped up on every big stone she could find. After a while I got her to understand but it was so funny to watch her. I loved her to bits and miss her so much that it hurts.

Great tutorial. I will soon be collar conditioning my now 15 week old GSP. Question, just before jackpot, it looked like Clutch did not want to leave the place board. Do you think he was associating being off the board with getting vibrated? I could see this happening. If so, what would you do to correct? Thanks
@susanhawkes2519

Floor equals feeling that new sensation so it's positive punishment to Clutch. Pup tried to hide behind his human when the vibration started to upset him. Then he considered going off the porch to get away from the strange, new sensation. Would it be better to wait for him to do something wrong to earn that new sensation instead of it randomly happening to him randomly in the middle of a happy session with his trainer?

YAWA QUESTION: I have a lab and he is about to be 16 weeks old tomorrow. He knows sit, kennel, and here really well. I introduced the shock collar yesterday when I got home from the store and he seems pretty scared of it. I am only using vibrate on the collar. I'm assuming that I should hold off on the collar? Is there any way to know when he is comfortable with the collar? Should I keep using the collar if he is scared of the collar? I dont want to form a negative feeling of the collar for him.

Question. Could e collar conditioning be used on a 3 year old beagle/lab mix? Being of hound breed her hunting instinct is stronger than other dogs. Can I ever expect to train her for off leash hiking in the forest or mountains? Not to kill the instinct, just to have her return when I call her.

My pup doesn’t react to the vibrate like that. He shakes his body once as if he just came out of water and then nothing. I know he feels it cause he looks around wondering where the vibration is coming, but he doesn’t have a displeased reaction from it. He is more curious as to what it is vs it needing to stop. What do I do in this situation? He’s about 6 months old

Thinking about getting a lab as a family dog, no pedigree or anything, her parents are akc registered but that's about it. If I train her from the start, how likely is it that she could be a good hunting dog? Is it a 50/50 chance? I'm not paying for some champion hunting dog but I figured I would try and at least she will be more disciplined than some other dogs

@@StandingStoneKennels So you start the vibration and hold it, as you ask him what to do, then only release the vibration once his behavior is compliant? I've watched some other videos, and I thought you only did a quick 'push' with the vibration at the critical second, not a continuous vibration. Am I understanding correctly? When you say "collar on" you've just pushed the vibration and have it going continuously until the behavior complies? Then OFF, and immediate treat? Thank you!

We have a yellow lab and he is biting everyone. All the time when he is excited. How do you use this to have him stop the biting. He has bitten my wife, me and my little girl. . .How can we stop that? We were thinking the e collar would help with this, but I can't find any trainings on how to stop a dog from jumping and biting.

I'm no trainer, but I think you need to teach your dog to 'calm down', only gets eye contact from you, attention from you, rewarded with a treat when the dog calms. During Petmsart's puppy training, they taught us to say dogs name, then "Settle" is the command. They don't get any eye contact, attention of any kind, not even speaking to them, until they do 'settle'/calm. Immediately, i mean immediately when they 'settle' we did CLICKER, while saying Good, then giving treat. Treat always came immediately after the click and very praise at the same time, with treat immediately following. Eventually, you start skipping treats (can just be their regular kibble, instead of expensive treats), with the CLICK only rewarding 'marker' with of course, "good" Praise, and/or pet/affection. Eventually, after many, sessions, using treats with the clicker, less and less, they learn the CLICKER is the 'PRAISE', OR "GOOD DOG" signal, (they did the right behavior you asked) they've learned to associate the CLICKER as Positive, a clicking "praise", in addition to "good"
@rachelwolf1208
@rachelwolf1208 Год назад
I always, ALWAYS reward my dog, when I remove it, with a HIGH VALUE TREAT, (not kibble, something better) and give lots of praise, belly rubs, eye contact, (me not distracted by other dogs, noises, but only focus is on rewarding the dog who wore the Baskerville, so dog always knows once it is removed, they have something really Good and positive to look forward to, as well. Also, never leave on the dog, for any long period of time, mostly just for training, I've not left it on my dog longer than 45 mins to an hour, otherwise, Petsmart told me, the dog would come to hate it, try to run when seeing it, it becomes a very 'negative' tool at that point. I started out with it only on a few minutes, then increased it just a little every day for 2 weeks.

why not just use the stim instead of vibrate?
@StandingStoneKennels
@StandingStoneKennels 7 месяцев назад
It depends on the dog and the situation. Vibrate can be more aversive to dogs than low levels of stimulation sometimes. However, when we are conditioning behaviors we want to use the lowest levels a dog will respond to and typically vibrate is enough to get their attention in low distraction environments.

You see in this video clutch gets afraid to leave the bed because of this training, a great example of why an e-collar shouldn’t be used as it can cause negative mental effects. A dog can easily be traumatized by even just the vibrate mode. My dog personally finds the vibrate more aversive than a low level shock and either one can cause a dog to become fearful and shut down their central nervous system and/or become more aggressive/reactive and unpredictable
@terriersman5
@terriersman5 7 месяцев назад
Every dog is different, Same as how every form of training can be different. It’s very generalizing to claim that e-collars should never be used just because it can occasionally cause negative effects in different dogs. This could also be a case of not properly starting the dog on the e-collar, I know this happened with my Yorkie when I started her on clicker-training.. and instead of charging the clicker I immediately went straight for it (therefore freaking her out whenever the clicker clicked), though that isn’t the case for every single dog. Dogs are various, different, and adaptable. Just because your experience was negative doesn’t mean every single showing of e-collar training is bad.

All the training and the background is so important to do before you just throw the collar on the dog and expect him to do what you want. If you don’t do the starter stuff, you are setting your dog and yourself up for pain and failure. Just my opinion!

Without treats (I use real meats) or when she’s tired of them I’m bloody from the teeth from playing, bruised & bloody from actual bites. And my hands are about to be ripped off from the jerking and pulling. She’ll just walk on 2 feet like a Mexican dancing dog the whole way rather than be loose on the leash. I’m exhausted. She’s smart. She’s on to the turn a different direction that worked like 2 sessions… now she just pulls every direction then bolts so when it gets to my hands it rips at them… she’s strong. Help
