Accidentally came across this channel and I’m really shocked. I was somewhat aware about chemicals in make up but not to this content. Ive been wearing waterproof mascara for a while now and I’ve noticed a lot of lash thinning. It would be great if you could do a video including safer brands that you enjoy ☺️
Absolutely. And, i'm not trying to cause undue panic. We definitely don't know the effects of these chemicals when applied topically, but I personally would rather stay away. I'll do a vid on safe mascara options!
I can’t wear mascara or eyeliner any more - my eyes get bloodshot very quickly, which looks awful, and they get very sore. Especially my left eye. I have tried all sorts of brands of mascara and have been using natural ones for the last few years, but it still is a problem. So I am now make-up free. I watched this as I was interested in knowing why.
Thank you for bringing this up! I wrote to Lip Smackers to see if that lip gloss contains these chemicals. In my opinion, the fact that they gave me no answer equals a "yes."
Wow, the things cosmetic companies get away with...I don't use waterproof mascara myself, because the removers are too irritating for my eyes, but one should be able to just rely on cosmetics being free of potentially harmful ingredients.
Hi Dr. Wong, thank you so much for all your great info! What is your favorite mascara? I am on the search since my eyes are really sensitive. Of course, easy to wash off, non clumping.... etc.... thank you so much!
Sheesh I wore waterproof mascara everyday for YEARS!! I am in a phase now to grow my eyelashes back thicker... by just doing nothing to them. Why is it that everything supposed to make you look nicer has terrible side effects (eyelash serums, extensions, lift and tint) and ends up making you look worse in the long run!? No one can win. Unless you have naturally long eyelashes.
The more the industry destroys our natural beauty amd the way we perceive ourselves and the beauty standard, the more they can make on selling us "solutions"💸
I am just so thankful to you for this critical information ❤ I really love collecting makeup, it excites me. But side by side I am also really health conscious which has been making me curious to know whether the makeup I am using is wise or harmful
I haven't used mascara for years and same with eyeliner. It was always hard to remove and a lot of rubbing involved. I used eyeshadow as eyeliner. I've been trying to minimize the amount of makeup that I use, but I am sure that a lot of these products have the ingredients that are mentioned here.
I have heard more than once that France has extremely strict rules about what goes into their makeup, skincare and hair products. Have you heard this too?
ilia mascara Rare beauty mascara Kosas mascara honest beauty mascara rem beauty mascara I am sure there is more but those are my top ones that work amazing and
Gosh just came across this video right now cause I haven't been using my mascara in a while, but my eyes get really sore especially my left eye 😪 I knew there was a reason I never liked makeup... To think in High school I used to just apply vaseline and I never had sore eyes until I decided to "Upgrade" 🤣🤣 I swear all these industries are just trying to kill us, whether it's in medicine, in makeup, in food, in clothes, even in our water 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭 I miss the old days when we used to live carefree, now we gotta watch even the air that we breathe 😭😭😭😭
I am nearly 40 and I am starting to pay the price of wearing mascara for nearly everyday since 15.. My eyes are blurry.. I truly believe it is the mascara and the screen time that has caused this.. Would you have any recommendations for blurry vision please.. What vitimins would be benefical.. Thankyou brilliant video.. I pray that I could be patient and kind with words like you are.. You are truely blessed with a gift from ahayah 🙏🙏😁💜
I just came upon your videos, looking at making your lashes grow longer (the coconut oil, and castor oil videos) do you see a difference with putting these oils on your lashes yourself? Ive tried it before and it made my lashes feel so heavy and goopy, maybe i just put to much on though. I am considering on trying them again… 😂😂 also if you do use mascara which ones do you use? i use the loreal paris voluminous mascara and noticed it has been stinging my eyes a bit throughout the day, and am wanting to switch to something different. I thought it would be best to ask for your input, what you suggest, and what you use yourself 😊 thanks for the videos!!
I would love to know what mascara Dr Rupa uses as well. I tend to go for the L’Oréal or maybelline mascaras as well so I am wondering if they have the forever chemicals
So with dry eye syndrome I have to use Refresh Optive Mega-3 Lubricant eye drops periodically So I use water proof mascara, what would I use to keep my mascara from running?
Unfortunately, all waterproof mascara comes with a risk. Here is a video on waterproof mascara I have posted - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YbNBilToxfk.html
Hi! Just wanted to say that I love your content and it has enlightened me so much! I already live very naturally, so I only use Burts Bees brown non-waterproof mascara and seeing this reminded me exactly why! I just wanted to ask, what are your thoughts on dyeing the eyelashes? There are a lot of fumes going into the eyes, along with the harsh chemicals. I was looking into Henna, as it is a little more natural, but it does not affect the eye lashes as much as a simple black dye would.
I saw a tip on youtube to use a normal mascara and then do a coat of waterproof at the end, then you can remove it easily. (Not related to the toxicity)
Hello Dr Rupa, What causes one to blink very hard? I only wear waterproof eyemake up because although I don't have watery eyes I blink so hard, my eye makeup don't last more than a couple of hours. Thank you for your videos!❤️
I do candle meditation for months now, everyday 20 min. So far everything is good and research says candle gazing improves vision and strength the eye muscles. Is there any negative effects of practicing candle meditation
I've run across a few eye care webpages suggesting that common preservatives like parabens and phenoxyethanol can be bad for the meibomian glands, including what looked like a scientific journal article that (I believe??) suggested that these preservatives could harm meibomian gland cells at concentrations approved for human use. Is there evidence suggesting that common preservatives besides BAK can harm meibomian glands, at the concentrations that are actually used in cosmetics/skin care products?
What do you think about the white base mascara? I usually dont have problems with mascara until i put the white base. Did you hear any comment about it or do you think it might be something else?
Thank you so much for your amazingly informative videos!! I love watching you! I have chronic dry eye and under eye bags. (Yay fir me lol) so I need waterproof to stop the transfer to under eyes. And moisturizer I think causes it to break down. But it is less with waterproof. Have you seen VolumeCare+ Mascara by Romi? I would be interested in what you think about their claims. Thanks!!
Ugh...and I literally just came home from buying a waterproof mascara lol. Our Ontario summers are hot muggy, and I find my eyes tear constantly. To prevent crazy racoon eyes, thought Id give wp mascara a shot again. Has pfas been linked to elevated estrogen production as well? As someone with endometriosis, I try to be mindful of hormone altering chemicals that I may come into contact with...
Can you please discuss hyaluronic acid in under eye concealers? I can tolerate it everywhere but not under eyes and it’s a common ingredient in concealer for spreadability. I cannot use anything under the eye.
