😤 Seems like there has been a lot of fake shungite showing up recently...and since so many of you are asking how to I.D. - I wanted to share this info to help you protect yourself from purchasing crystal fakes!

The cheapest method of testing shungite: $1.00 flashlight from Walmart. Remove back, touch battery's backside with stone. If it lights it's shungite, if it doesn't it's not. See instructions online, if too complicated. I have my larger pyramid by the bedside clock (the utility wireless reader in directly below, on the first floor), smallest pyramids: by microwave, by my router; not so cute ones in multiple areas of my house. Cutest of all around the neck due to the dumb (not so smart) phone.

All the shungite I buy test at 0.00 on meter. Good video! The lock and bolt good to know. Elite should test at 0.00? Interference. Never heard that about the meter being in teens numbers lower carbon. Interesting.

I tried the flashlight test and it didn't work, so maybe I don't have real shungite

Hi. I suppose the units you read are in ohms (resistance) ? Besides, to compare 2 stones, the distance between the electrodes should be the same, otherwise the reading is meaningless. Correct ?

I have shungite that looks totally different. Dull black, not shiny and metal like. Also in the beginning is was quite dusty, black dust came off. Maybe it is something else.

Cheaper forms do rub off, like a drawing charcoal. Harder smoother pieces will last longer. Not all are polished or in natural form.

I have some elite Shungite and I also got a Buddha carved Shungite. I’m not sure if the Buddha is real Shungite but I don’t want to stick his head in a flashlight to test him either 😂 I don’t want to ruin it! Hopefully it is 🤞

No way to ruin it since all you do is touch lightly, with the head. Of course, I use a very small flashlight, not a extra super dupper size one.

To determine the percent of shungite in type 2 shungite are there certain readings that would equate with different percentages?

Question. i ordered 2 kilos of shungite from russia.... what i noticed was some pieces just domt conduct well while others go right to zero.... i also noticed depending on where you place the probes some spots go right to 0 but a few spot will not show zero on the same stone.. why is this? does this mean the ones that dont conduct well are not good for protection or is it because it has things in it preventing the probes from conduction???

I have a shungite necklace but it looks more like hematite which would also light up a flashlight so this test is not conclusive. How can I be certain my stone is shungite - not hematite - if they both conduct electricity?

Try the streak test Donna. Hematite streaks a reddish brown on a streak plate or on an unglazed piece of tile/porcelain. Shungite streaks black. I hope this helps.
