Have you ever tried "Braid dipping"? It seals the ends nicely and makes them smoother. Boiling hot water, a container for the boiling hot water, and a towel. Super simple and makes a huge difference.
@@lacieglaab5899 Yes I do that, but my main problem with my natural coily hair was making sure I could blend the ends. Sometimes I would be so frustrated I just cut the dang ends of it. Watching this video really did help me with improving that skill.
Had a hairstylist cut my untucked hair off once when I had relaxed hair, my sister caught her and I gave her a piece of my mind. I hope many stylists see your videos
From a mother who taught herself how to do box braids for her daughter because of Covid. Thank you for this tip no one explained it the way you did. Wonderful.
I love hair and have always wanted to go to school. You know sadly, even if I did go to school, the only way to learn this is from a pro like you. They just dont cover all hair types in school. That should be changed. You are so thorough and professional! My niece is mixed and I literally can not wait until her hair fills in more so I can play with it! (No I'm not going to be adding any hair to her while she is young. Still want to learn for later on. I'll be doing cute protective styles while she is little) My sister isn't good with hair so I'm going to try learning! Thanks girl!
I am absolutely a 1. In just 3 episodes I have learned SO MUCH. I’m white & based in New Zealand, but my partner is African American, from New Orleans. I do their hair. Finding resources has been a real challenge. I think the main takeaway I’ve had so far has been that I’m not using nearly enough hair!
I literally have ginger, wavy hair and have never wanted box braids or any kind of fancy braid. That being said, I have now started to watch all of your videos.....☕
Same. I have wavy 2b hair and can’t even wear braids of any kind because they give me a headache. I am absolutely mesmerized by these videos. Your talent and ability to explain your technique is amazing!
I'm a one and started braiding in 2021 when i realized nobody was going to be able to do my hair. My Tuck Game is HORRIBLE but I learned everything that i was searching for just by watching your video. So thankful that you uploaded this class. I'll start my daughter's hair again with that in mind.

This is so helpful, thank you! I’m a white mom doing my biracial kids’ hair, and my braiding skills are now strong enough that this is my next area of growth!
I just love you tutorials. So helpful. I’m a beginner. Always had someone doing my hair but now I want to do it myself. Practicing on my own hair has been challenging but your videos have walked me through it!
I want to start doing box braids for myself because of the current situation. I would be an absolute beginner and this is very clear and helpful to know what to do. Thank you ☺️
I’d say I’m a 7! If you’re paying- -probably a 9. But don’t ask my daughters - shamefully with them I get a little inconsistent. I’ve been braiding all my life - and learned techniques by watching a braider 1 or 2 times and then doing my thing. With these quality & educational videos like yours, I can actually study the techniques. Thank you for taking the time and for sharing 😊
Heyyy I just wanna say a huge thank you.Im a white girl and grown up in en environment there were no people with textured hair.I've always liked braids and done simple styles like cornrows bt never knew how to add hair or yarn to it let alone knowing about tucking.last night I came across your channel and up till 3am watching you videos. This morning first thing i did was grab some yarn and braid my hair and at 4th time i could tuck perfectly.I'm so happy love you❤
zanichar honestly (for me at least) I do a off brand box braid **very small** then I do the twist around that, and use a crotchet hook to little BB into the twist
Everyone that watch ur videos appreciates you! Happy New Year!!!!!🎆 I come back to this specific video often as I’m still learning and want to reassure that I’m doing hair correctly ☺️🤗Thank You!
That helps because I have hair type on my Asian side🙄🤦🏾♀️ and my hair always stuck out at the ends and now I realized I needed more hair and to tuck more!!! So helpful
I love these classes. The only hair I've ever braided is my daughters and my own. I have another daughter as well and I refuse to keep laying such high prices because I think I can do it myself. So far so good, but I have a lot to learn! Thanks again for this!
I got it! I love this! This technique reduces the likelihood of your different colour hair showing along the braid! Reduces people knowing that your hair is a different colour than the braid, reduces the spotty look...I'm good! So-o-o-o excited!
I love your comments about, "your mannequin is always available and ontime"..PREACH....TIME IS MONEY....so many people don't respect the profession of styling and time management!
My daughter has extremely thick hair and blunt ends. She really wants braids, but it's so hard to make them so the ends dont stick out. Thanks for the tips! I will give it a try!
Thank you thank you THANK YOUUUUUUU❤😮❤🥳🥳🥹💕💕💕🥹🥹🥹💕💕💕💕🙏🏽🙏🏽 braiding hair for my daughter and I was having a hard time with her hair sticking out ..thank you it is challenging but with your video im super encouraged and motivated
Today was my first time watching your content, and must I say I enjoyed it very much, I've been trying to learn how to braid, but my frustration comes from music, others play or the speech content 🙃 Thank you for being so professional and the video is spot on. keep them coming.❤
I love your commentary, too funny like when Sheila thought you were gonna cut her hair 😂 had me ROFL. And as an owner of stiff, asian hair I need more tuck game, my braids look like caterpillars 🐛
I had this doubt for a loong time, bc I always braid myself, and it worked perfectly well, until I cut some curly bangs (which I loved) but my hair was splitting too much in this area, and I had to redo these braids within one week. Next time I braid my hair, I'll definitely try your recomendations ♡ thank you so much and I appreciate your braiding skills ♡♡♡
Eu amei! As pontas do meu cabelo sempre ficavam saindo das tranças, mas com a sua dica e usando um elástico no final para prender deu tudo certo 🎉❤ I loved your video! The ends of my hair were always sticking out of the braids, but with your tip and using an elastic band at the end to secure, it all worked out fine 🎉❤
Thank you for your videos!!❤️ I almost gave up though . It is definitely a learning curve, this time it took me 4EVER to do my daughters hair, but I almost did it perfectly. I braid soooo slow. But I was afraid my fingers would cramp and lock up. It took me 5 days, yep 5! No cramps though and not hair sticking out!! Finally done - after all those hours and days THEN THE WORST HAPPENS!!! I put the mouse on top AND ALL THAT WORK DISAPPEARED AND THE NATURAL HAIR FRIZZED OUTSIDE FROM THE TUCK!!! 😱😱I literally wanted to 😢 I get exhausted every time I think about it. Thanks in advance!! Would you make a video on the following: 1- no frizz when mousing at the end 2- portions for feed i hair or feeding braids 3- when to feed how many times for desired length 4- speed
I'm so glad I found your channel! I've been braiding for only a few months (licensed cosmetologist for over 12 years) I was so close to giving up and you have helped me break through and I am so grateful! Keep those videos coming Sis!
I loved it! I'm just starting out and I'm a perfectionist too so I'm trying to see how to be better and this was one of the issues I had and this video help slot! Will definitely get my practice doll and perfect it
What about coily or curly hair with straight synthetic braiding hair? Some of the shine and jam on natural hair causes more it to curl up? Any options or suggestions for this and my tuck game is 1.5 to 2... and I love this tutorials also
So if you have hair that coils with shine n jam that means the hair has high porosity (absorbs moisture fast). Somethings that can help... using the jam in combination with a hair oil or hair grease. Another option is Murray’s hair edge wax or if it’s just the ends that curl up use a small dab of extra strength edge control to smooth it out. My favorite is by EBIN. I hope this helps.
So here's a question for us type 4 girls: As soon, and I do mean as soon, as our hair smells water it starts curling. Doesn't it make it harder for keeping the ends tucked because they're reverting from stretched/blown out? I did spring twist for the first time last month and as soon as I went to spray a little leave-in, my ends were popping out everywhere. Same thing happened last year when I got box braids done professionally. How do I keep my natural hair moisturized without my ends escaping the tucks?
WOW!! Thank you sooooo much!!! You just saved my day. Yours is the only video I will need in order to tuck my ends. True talent and mad skill mizz Braidstress!!💪💪💪😍👌👌👌
Vandy vanity ❤love my hair looks so beautiful together! Way like hair all through the hair ❤ experience very well! Done So proud of you Congratulations ❤
I don’t know why youtube suggested this video. I have waist length locs but I am so glad I watched because you are a wonderful teacher! I enjoyed every minute of this video and now I want to see more lol. Thanks for sharing your expertise! I wish I could braid like that 😞
Omg. I get my hair cut often but I also like to put braids in my hair but I’m just starting out on braids. I alwaysss have very blunt ends and I’ve been searching high and low for a technique on how to actually braid and tuck. Thankkk you!!! 💕
Lmfao my tuck game is on like 5 or 6. Id love to see a vid of you doing knotless braids. For some reason my base gets frizzy really fast. And i wrap it at night
I went to a lady who everybody says is sooooooo good at feed ins. Well , when she did mines , it was horrible !!!! My own hair was not tucked in right ! The feed in hair was jacked up also !!! Hair was sticking out everywhere! 😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖
Thank you for this video and the braid starting vid! I'm doing box braids on my niece for the first time and she has finer black hair but wants purple-to-pink ombre "princess" braids.
My tuck game is probably a 5. Half points taken off for blunt cuts and straight hair. This was a BIG problem for me starting out. This, and the braid getting much thinner after the clients hair stops
I always tuck backwards! The bottom of my braid is tucked and 1 color only and the top has the hair tucked in neatly.

As someone with straight hair, this was pretty helpful to me, since we do braid hair as well in europe and my ends always end up sticking out if I try to braid my hair all the way down.
