I think the main difference is that Bay is more about being cool, Snyder is more about being epic. A movie like Armageddon may have this high stakes plot, but it also has fetishization of women and lots of low-brow jokes. It knows it's a blockbuster and is simply trying to deliver a movie that from start to finish entertains, even if it falls apart on closer scrutiny. A movie like 300, which to be clear I loved, has the occasional one-liner, but is more so treating itself as this mythic legend of a film, ultra-seriousness. I do think Man of Steel and Transformers (2007) are fairly similar in terms of how they adapted their source material, but the latter still has lots of low-brow jokes, even if it is a ultra-realistic depiction of the concept of "alien robots that turn into cars fight over energy".

I remember back in 2016 when Snyder was talking about Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice from the literary point of view, and also how when people complained about him having Batman in that film carry guns and kill people, he tried to say that Batman did that in The Dark Knight Returns. Batman fans then responded to that claim by spamming him the infamous "This is the weapon of the enemy. We do not need it, we will not use it" panel from that very book. At least when Michael Bay made Transformers (and to a lesser extent when Tim Burton made Batman and Batman Returns) both of them were open and honest about not being fans or experts of the respective source material and were just doing their own thing based on their own creative personalities, and to take it or leave it. And say what you want about some of the decisions those two made with their respective adaptations, that is far more respectable then trying to pretend you were an expert but get everything about a source material fundamentally wrong.

I agree. Burton and Bay had enough integrity to be honest and not give false expectations to their audiences whereas Snyder is trying to seem genuine and knowledgeable, but that backfired.

The problem is that those same fans either forget or ignore that in the same comic Batman killed the Joker and shot a criminal, implying he killed them. They cannot like his choices but they can't say he doesn't know what he's doing

Both directors are polarizing by critics at best, but Zack Synder doesn’t do this whole Bayhem-style of action kinda similar to Michael Bay’s over-the-top style of blowing things up. I enjoyed Bay’s movies from The Rock, Armageddon, and the Transformers movies. Over the years, he has been a fan-favorite no matter how critics don’t like his style of action. But the dude is a legend, no doubt.

I think the Zack Snyder hate is way too forced just because of rebel moon. You're lying because Zack Snyder is much worse then Gunn , I also know that Zack Snyder , Walter Hamada , Anne Sarnoff , Toby Emmerich , Jon Berg and Geoff Johns are all responsible for messing up and rushing the old DCEU franchise that ended up being a miserable failure and total mess and it ended with Aquaman 2 the lost kingdom and they all failed to figure out how to make the old DCEU franchise as cohesive as the MCU franchise , meaning David Zaslav , James Gunn and Peter Safran made the right choice by listening to the fans about doing the near full reboot to DC franchise aka the new DCU and ending the old DCEU with Aquaman 2 the lost kingdom , Do you understand ?

I'd even take his Snyderverse trilogy over the 5 Transformers movies Bay directed (except for maybe the first one).
