@@shimon2476 Still have it and i take care of everything i own. Anywhere from oil changes every 3k miles to cleaning out the carbon build up in the intake manifold. Found out the motor blew the first time due to metal shavings from the camshaft going and blew another time from the turbo going out and also sending debris into the motor through the intercooler. So no the motors arent junk just everything around it. Will never own one again with how expensive maintenance and parts are for it either.

Now to try and get into the mid 10s! The work never stops lol, But thank you bro, Im surprised I reached the 10s before any other FWD MK7 besides Tyler.
I “ maybe...” wanted to cry too 🙃🙈 Baby I am really happy for you. All the hard work, long nights and our disagreements 😋 paid off. I love you and I can’t wait to see what’s next, I enjoy being there for you!
What a badass GLI 👌🏻you are making insane numbers bro , I had a Gen3 GLI but traded it in for a Mk7 GTI but I’m pretty sure you’ll gaptize Stage 2 mk7s
Thank You, The car made much better numbers than we expected, my GLI with a hybrid MGT17 turbo was running slightly faster than stage2 GTIs, This IS38 is just insane!
Very nice setup. Where in Orlando if you don’t mind me asking I live on the east coast in Brevard? Also do you have a build thread? I’m very interested in learning about your set up. I just found out that there isn’t much for our Gen 3’s other than custom setups.
Devine Digital I actually don’t have a personal build thread. Most my progress is on Instagram. I did make a list of things needed to swap over to a MK7r IS38 turbo and posted it on VWvortex. I’m not from Orlando, I just travel there to race. Both at OSW and OBT 😂 I’m actually from Lakeland FL. If you ever need info, Just contact me @PRzFinest21x on Instagram Edwin Toledo-Torres on Facebook Or thru here. I generally reply to everything.
@@PrzFinest21x I know this was forever, but thank you for the reply, I'm going through that thread now as I will have the chance to finally do it this summer. You are an absolute inspiration.
Dude this is insane! That thing pulls like a champ!👌🏼 Didn’t know u were AF.. I’m army stationed in Belgium at the moment.. can’t wait to get back stateside! Just out of curiosity.. what kind of suspension are u running? Do u have sway bars as well?
Austin Denike I've since done pulls on the street next to other cars & once the turbo is spooled up in high RPM... its a monster. Yea, Ive been in the Air Force for 5.5years now, glad my time away from the states will only be a year. For suspension I run ForgeMotorsport Coilovers with 1000lb/in rear SwiftSprings, and a hotchkis 27mm rear swaybar.
Austin Denike Yes, I report to South Korea in Late January. 1000lb/in is the rate. I have the biggest I could find. But only in the rear to help prevent squating.
Austin Denike Define fun? Lol na, it should be fun. Im excited. Gives me a chance to really save for my 2019 goals. & yea man, I should lease my car to someone lol
You kinda answered your own question lol The car in Street trim sounds much better but in this entire video the car was missing the midpipe (resonated mid section) with a turn down installed instead. Hence why it sounds like a tractor while at the Dyno/Track. It’s due for new resonators anyway, I’ve blown out the vibrants in the 2 years I’ve had them.
I never would of thought these things could go that fast.. that's awesome. I really wish people would put the pricing on these videos tho Lol.. I see this awesome video and I'm like "holy shit that's cool.. wonder how much it would cost to build this thing.." Then I look into it and I'm like fuuuuuuuck that. Heh. Nice car tho bro.. congrats, it's awesome. Wish my Mustang was that fast.. Lol.
Sigrafix I could definitely put a price on everything. Being that the car Stock Engine/ Stock trans. It really wouldn’t be too bad over the 4 year span I’ve been building it. I’ll post it here in a little, let me add it up. ( I hope it doesn’t make me regret my investment lmao)

Yeah that's not too bad.. I just looked at the $800 down pipe from APR and said Fuck that.. Lol. Still tho.. awesome car man, love it.. appreciate the parts break down. My brother has a GTI, he wants the APR stage 2 but neither of us knows how to go about getting that done.. Lol.
The goapr website is kind of confusing, I'm used to handheld tuners not stages and packages and vendors.. so I can just buy the stage2 tune from apr and get it flashed at a local vendor without them requiring me to get the entire package (hardware and such)? If so I'm definitely doing it Lol. p.s. I'm local in south florida, thanks again for the replies man, appreciate it.
I'm just now seeing this comment, I Went 10s in November 2017 and got Stationed in South Korea in Feb 2018. Cars been in storage. A ton of upgrades planned. I'm Due back next month and I will continue the build.
Daniel Silvestre Nope the car is running stock Fuel pumps both High and Low. The only fuel modification was the Golf R Injectors and Running Water Meth Injection thru a Cooling most CM7 nozzle.
Do u know the part number off theses injectors? Because im doing a big turbo up grande on my car, a beetle 2.0 gen 3 with simos 12 ECU and im afraid to have fuel injection issues! Thanks bro!
Daniel Silvestre 06L906036H or 06L906036L or what ever is the current lastest revision. These are plug and play, your ecu can compensate for them as they are HUGE upgrades. Figuring out a LPFP Fuelpump solution would really help you get the most without using water meth like I do. What will you be using for tuning?
Hey bud, I've picked your brain a bit here and there. I have a MK7 GLI, it was stock when we last spoke, it's now intake/DP/JB4. I'm considering slapping the IS38 on it. BMS is telling me they can handle the IS38 on the stock VW flash with simply the piggyback. Have you ever heard of this? FCP Euro (who I am considering buying the turbo from) says without software you'll get a check engine light. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I’d hit up GappinCheeks on Facebook, I know they tune anything on JB4. You won’t get a CEL running the turbo on JB4 ad long as you have the setting right to add the correct amount of fueling.
Looking for easier reversible mods (no tuning until I pay it off) for my 2014 GLI - suggestions? Thinking intake, discharge, etc. mostly pipe upgrades. Will this actually help push hp or tq? thanks!
Alex Ahlgrim no tuning until you pay it off or until your out of warranty? Just trying to understand the logic. Regardless my recommendation is 3in Downpipe, intake or even an upgraded K&N drop-in filter and JB4 piggy back tuner. I know you said no tuning but JB4 can be installed or removed with in 10-15mins. Very simple, non traceable tuning since it doesn’t flash the ECU.
@@PrzFinest21x sorry, out of warranty. Conveniently 2 months before I'm done paying it off so that's my time frame. Does the 3in install provide sufficient gain? And I was unsure if the piggyback would provide the same power and reliability of getting a professional tune? Also, thanks for the very quick reply.
Alex Ahlgrim the world record stock turbo GLI runs 12.5@109mph and its on a piggy back tune. No flash tune. It’s awesome. And yes, the 3in downpipe is what allows the best flow and lets the turbo exhaust gases much better.
@@PrzFinest21x oh wow. That's pretty awesome for a stock turbo gli... thanks a ton for the advice! Little under a year and I can finally do some real mods!
Almost 2 years later and how is the reliability been? I've got an Mk6 GLI as well and I was planning on doing an IS38 also. Basically shooting for these power numbers myself as well.
CRAWFORDx96 It’s been great. Engine has 130k total and it hasn’t given me any issues. Plan on putting a simple piston/rod combo to be safe moving up from this point.
@@PrzFinest21x Just received my JB4 in the mail today. Gonna save up a few more paychecks and buy an intercooler, inlet and outlet pipes, and the JB4 meth kit. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be hitting you guys up on the ProjectGen3GLI page for help with the install of the IS38 Hybrid!!
CRAWFORDx96 Hell Yea! That’s awesome. We’re in there everyday talking about different mods and testing to continue pushing the limits. It would be nice to have more swapped members for sure.
MK7 Gti201 Well, APR stage 2 on this car/ECU is actually meant for a GLI GT17 turbo. Smaller than an IS20. The Meth nozzle Used was A 650cc at 100psi. No Ethanol mix as it would demand more from the fuel pumps and injectors.
MK7 Gti201 Well, that tune is just the base. It makes about 20psi and sets the timing. The rest of the power is made by the JB4 adding 7psi and adding the appropriate fuel and while also controlling the meth. (It’s app you see on my phone while I race.) Without JB4 the Jetta wouldn’t be able to make the power since no company offers tuneable ECU software for this model. Sure, meth can make it richer unless you spray small amount or make adjustments to accommodate for the added “fueling” meth provides.
Lol, 420-430wtq is the safe limit that tuners recommend for a long and healthy life. This wasn’t tuned to be safe or have a long life, only goal was to absolutely send it. It actually made as much as 493wtq lol
So your telling me I’m about to waste hella time on my 20th AE gti chasing down slows subis and Audi’s when my stock asf gen3 could potentially be knocking on the door of my old mans m3 that’s makes north of 600???
Hey, I know that you're not as active but hoping you see this. Looking at downpipes, however most say they will fit mk6 up to 2013, but since mine is a 2014 it's the Gen 3. Will the downpipe still fit or is there a different downpipe I need to find?
Alex Ahlgrim there’s a different downpipe for your car, you’ll want to select 2015 or “facelift” When categorizing the car in the parts selection. USP has a great budget down pipe as well as CTS for the Gen3 GLI.
@@PrzFinest21x That's crazy helpful! Normally it says the 2015+ doesn't fit because I select 2014 for model year! Thank you! Time to finally get this build underway!
@@PrzFinest21x Pretty much just have a fast daily. Since it's the daily, I probably won't do a turbo upgrade. But I want to do stage 2, intake, intercooler for now. Worst case scenario, I love it and go big turbo
Garage Life I swapped to a base model Jetta 288mm front brake.... but I do know of a set of wheels that are 15 and fit the stock brakes. They just poke out a little bit. You can also shave the calipers.
About how much does it cost to get to this point. I have 2014 gli autobahn 6mt with apr stage 1 tune. I would like to make it faster while still having it as a daily driver.
It’s all depends, this was about $2500-3500 using used parts and eBay parts. If you join #GLIArmy or #ProjectGen3GLI on Facebook, I’m sure people that have recently swapped can better answer the question. GappinCheeks actually has a turbo coming out that can support 400hp and also has a 2014 Manual that he’s installing it on.
How did you get rid of the governor? I use to have a Jetta (wasn't a gli) but still, it topped off at like 128mph. How do you get rid of the speed limiter?
PrzFinest21x oh wow ok. Any ECU flash or does it have to be a certain brand that does so? Thank you for this advice. I'm planning on buying a gli soon so this is really helpful
So the body is a MK6 Jetta. So the 6th generation of the Jetta. But the engine is a Gen3 which is the 3rd generation of the TSI engine. The reason they are both listed is because the MK6 Jetta came with a Gen1 TSI from 2012-2013 and a Gen3 TSI from 2013.5-2018. So the records are divided by engines not chassis. Hope this makes more sense
Naqiuddin Ridzuan No, I don’t mind. The car is running an OEM MK7 Golf R turbo that has been machined and ported to fit upgraded 56mm compressor and 54mm turbine blades. A slash of race fuel and water meth to it from knocking and it’s now at 27psi. Plans to get a proper big turbo next year.
vikas rana Is it a FWD model? I’m not familiar with the Euro A3 options, Awesome that you already have a TVS DSG tune. It’s so hard to get that here in the states. I was lucky enough to get mine from a dealer that was visiting the states for a week. The stage3 was Expensive but worth it.
l8o Still good, car recently got picked up by a friend in the North east that’s going to continue my build while I’m stationed over seas. BIGGER turbo and fuel system soon.
Hey baby, wanna go ride in my jetta? Or hey baby, wanna go roll in my ANY OTHER CAR? GAYEST CAR EVER! Hey baby wanna go roll in my 68 Camaro RS/SS numbers matching big block 4 spd and get beat by a jetta? "Of course baby, any day! Rather look cool, be cool, sound cool, act cool, roll cool and be american any day of the week!"That big block rumble made my panties fly off. Don't even need to try. What a joke. All that competitive bs said, respect for what you are doing and believe in, and for true love of autos. Good work!
Hahaha that’s pretty great. That’s funny is that your comment reminds me of the the 1/8mile racing I did in Alabama and west Florida. V8 dudes always betting against the silver Jetta until it comes out running 7.0-7.1 at 100mph lol. All the old heads would come up and not Know what they were looking at, just a VW Jetta with a small turbo and tires. Always a good time even if it’s not that coolest car in the lanes..... it’s always the under dog. I could be the run of the mill Mustang/Camaro.... or the fastest Jetta. My choice was to be the fastest in my category. But it’ll be a lot different next year when it comes out running a 9.9 at 142. Stay tuned. And thank you for the kind words 🙏🏼
@@PrzFinest21x I wouldn't bet against your car. If I saw your car rolling up to anything that's a real drag car, I'd bet on yours 100 out of 100 times. Or I'd say your lost lol. Yea, can’t wait to get back to building this car. But also, It’s been 4 years and it’s still the only 10sec Gen3 GLI. Weak or not, the title of the video still stands. Lol
"My DSG is faster than your manual!" as he gets demolished by other vehicles on the strip. So you bought a DSG to be faster, but failed because it still gets beat by other cars.
Looks like all the challenger saw was tail lights hard beat a full out drag car with a street car. Nice job congrats making into the 10s that takes alot of hard work and dedication nice build man
