StarWarFan As it so often does. In all the stories, and in real life, it’s not Gods who deliver us from extinction. To be sure, sometimes they’re there to lend a helping hand, provide guidance, grant powers or tools through divine intervention or blood shared with the heroes. But at the end of the day, it’s the humans who slay the monsters, who prevent the demon invasion, who outwit the evil spirits, because only we can truly save ourselves. As our old friend Aesop once said: “Heaven helps those who help themselves.”
I love how Isaac is slowly becoming what Lisa was when she was alive. A person who knows that they should teach humanity instead of slaughter them. To help them grow up and learn instead of being superstitious. To help them progress farther than Humanity could go, not through replacing them... but making themselves better.
To be fair you can't say its not superstitious nonsense when they get slaughtered by vamps and demons. Its not superstition that's the issue but humanity's inherent cruelty en masse and delusional superiority.
@@bezoticallyyours83 But also, it is superstitious if the main way they fight the monsters was through unconventional means, and through just sacrificing or killing others to supposedly make the attacks stop.
@@seeker11 Well, it failed because Isaac has the bluntness that Lisa did not have. She has the power to share his information without him being killed himself.
I was so shocked when we met the captain this season. A man who could talk with so much sense and reason, but who has clearly seen some shit and understands the nature if the world. He came into isaac's story and not only made him hopeful, but made his story the best in the season
@Crab in A Top Hat Essential lesson in general. You should also let the Melancholy of our World be. That means, we Open our Eyes for the cold grotesque truth about our World, nevertheless how hard & painfully the Revelations are. The worthy Price of soul Evolution.
Perhaps, or perhaps not. His motives are not certain. He wants revenge for his mentor Dracula. And wants a to continue his war on humans. But he stays his blade from those who show him no ill will.
The point is that the seed of hope was planted, where all else was misery, abuse, death and destruction. Isaac may never be a good man, but he may yet have the opportunity to make better choices.
Funny how in the games it’s hector who makes the heel face turn whilst Isaac stays evil, but in this series it seems like the opposite is happening, with hector being beaten further down through manipulation and torture and Isaac being taught the value of humanity
@@gordonchell4364 i dont think he does though. I still think he believes in draculas vision and that he intends to see it through. For Isaac i think all the bad of humanity outweighs the good. His is an incredibly nihilistic worldview bur now he understands that there will be aspects of human's that will be a hard thing to lose
@@scotibot7450 If that's your interpretation that's fine. The way I saw it though, was that Issac's hatred of humanity runs so deep that it doesn't take much to make him start hating them again. He takes some human's understandable reactions to the monsters and uses that as proof that humanity is scum.
That’s actually one of the best wisdoms I’ve ever heard in an animated series. I would honestly never expect to hear it from a pirate. Love it so much!
Why not pirates been on both sides. He's been a good guy and he's been a bad guy. He's done good things and he's done evil things and he's smart enough to not have any illusions about why he did those things. it's the wisdom that comes with age and simply just not giving a f*ck about pretending anymore. Pirate guy knows who he is and he knows his place in the world. Isaac is lost and doesn't know what to do or make of himself. The captain called him out for that, he straight-up calls him out asking him what comes next after you win?
Winnie the Boogaloo yea absolutely! It’s just that I wasn’t thinking so deeply into anything and usually that’s not how they portray a pirate especially in a series where the focus are vampires, hunters and forgemasters. It’s just an expectation thing, I was not prepared for that outcome which got me by surprise in a good way.
Indeed, the voice acting is superb in the series. Sypha, the Captain, the merchant who sold Isaac the mirror, Isaac, Carmilla, Striga, Lenor, Morana, Prior Sala, Saint Germain, the girl who owns the fruit stand in S3E1 (who sold Saint Germain the apples) etc. It's all so fucking good to hear, especially with headphones.
Isaac is like the guy in DnD that plays a necromancer or a fiendish warlock who doesn’t understand why when he displays his horrific powers in public people tend to be frightened and/or hostile towards him.
I think he understands why people are frightened. Seems like the confusion arises at the stupidity and cruelty of humans. Like how the port authority wouldn’t let him leave through the port even though he was peaceful(what outcome were they expecting) or how the first people he met after leaving the castle tried to enslave him(he didn’t have his monsters with him then)
@@pthompson4498 letting monsters walk around freely is kind against humanities best interests, with the genocide war and all going on ya know LOL Portmaster should have had a guy that was good with a crossbow put one through Isaacs skull.
I like the Captain he’s unique, in a sense that he’s not narrow-minded on matters regarding morality. He doesn’t entirely believe that humanity is good but doesn’t outright believe that humanity is evil either.
Sometimes, we just need a little talk from somebody to remind us of a few things. Where there is destruction exists the opportunity for creation. Where there is cruelty exists the chance for kindness. Where there is sorrow exists the possibility of joy. Where there is hatred, there exists the chance for love. "If you look for the light, you can often find it. But if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see," Iroh.
Humans have the unique gift of empathy, to be able to see things from another perspective. I like that the Captain is basically inviting Isaac to come back to his human side, instead of clinging to his vampiric ideals.
I so wish that the captain turns out to be Grant Dynasty, he's a pirate sailor who keeps his cool around a Forgemaster and his demon army, how could he NOT be Grant?
Well, the Judge did say that there was "The Pirate of the Roads" in the third season. I suspect that is supposed to be Grant, but Warren Ellis apparently doesn't like the character.
@@namishusband818 such a pity. That character is integral to anything having to do with Simon Belmont or Syfa the mage. Grant was my favorite character. But he was a "Ghost Pirate" so can't be this guy. When you encountered him in game you actually had to defeat him in his cursed form to set his will free. Best character by far' complete control in the air, highest jump, and could cling and climb any wall or ceiling in entire game like fucking spiderman.
i just love how, during this entire scene, the camera either pans slowly or just cuts straight to Isaac's or the captain's face and yet in @1:08 it's a sudden quick pan to Isaac. I'd like to think they tried to show how Isaac was caught off guard by the question and that "teaching humans to be kind" was really something he never considered 😁
Sailors of old had the best stories to tell. Captain found Isaac fascinating from the get go... Maybe he marked him as a hurt person from the moment he saw them. Imagine the story the Captain tells future sailors... Of Isaac the Forgemaster
Not only is that Captain one of the few people to treat Isaac respectfully, but one of the first that told Isaac that he could be something more than a tool for destruction. Not even Dracula told Isaac he could be more than a killing instrument of death
This is the clip that got me to give this show a second chance. When Season 1 first came out, I tried it and was skeptical. Not of the quality of the show or it's animation, but of the writing style. The wordplay and character development aspects of this show really got going from season 2 onward, but season 1 had to be.....well, season one. It had so much to establish as a base for the rest of (what would be) an amazing series! I'm glad that when I finally came back to it I was able to see it all from start to finish.
0:20 great qoute there's so much goodness and so many good people out there yet all we remember are the cruel and nasty ones and the genuine ones it's all good saying wipe the cruel humanity off the world but you only knew nasty people not the other side
I think that what Isaac needed to understand is that, while humankind can be cruel beyond measure at times, with the right teachings and a lot of PATIENCE, humankind can also do so much good.
Ok but no cap, if Im gonna be honest and playing as devils advocates (heh). The port authorities really do have logical, and down right reasonable fears onto why they wont let Isaac and his bisties in the city and in the country.
Without saying it, he demonstrates that wiping out humanity is the coward's approach. It's lazy and easy. A real master of knowledge and intellect and power can raise up humanity. Destroying is easy. Building is hard. This is relevant right now.
Isaac never considered there was an alternative. Lesson: always question yourself; what you are doing, your actions, your motives. Is there perhaps a different solution to the problem I/we face?
Please tell me that someone at Konami has got the idea of making a Castlevania game with an actual story arc like this series with upgraded action and character development? Thinking like a more arcade-y Mass Effect with light RPG elements and great story with playable characters in episodes - think Mortal Kombat 10 or 11 story mode.
If someone could play captain's monologue while showing season four's scenes where Isaac's minions are rebuilding a city and teaching humility to one of his followers, that'd be great thx.
It baffles me how the writes of this story could make an absolutely amazing character like the Captain in just a couple sentences. Like he's a guy I wanna know more about but I don't want to ever see him again if that makes sense.
I always thought of the Captain as a Devil (in the terms of D&D not biblical terms) in disguise... Trying to Teach Isaac the path of lawful evil... To stop him from descending into the realm of Chaotic Evil where only ash remains...
