Fluorescent light is known as one of the most uncomfortable types of lighting. It is very bright and causes strain. Oddly enough, a juxtaposition exists between the light and where it can be found: sometimes libraries, sometimes offices, but always hospitals. So, why does such a painful light exist in a place of intended healing?
The dissonance between the first notes of the piece suddenly transports the listener into an unsettling environment, almost a nightmare and never-ending scenario. The tempo mimics a sensation of time and waiting, feeling slow. The piece arrives at a moment different from the rest, where the violin and cello sing out-almost a plea.
