Brother/ Sister, i don't know the version of the song you may be referring to (there could be different Ragas in which it may have been sung) but when i tried to listen to the song, saw the version by M.L. Vasanthakumari ma'am is based on Ragam Punnagavarali. You may associate the tune with Naadhamuni Mel Irukkum Nalla Paambe song....In my humble opinion and very sorry for my ignorance, it does have some some similarities with Ananda Bhairavi maybe because of the usage of and sustenance on G2 and M1 that are the Jiva Swarams of Ragam Ananda Bhairavi too. But the general feel of the Ragams may be varied: Ragam Ananda Bhairavi is more on the side of joy and touches the soul very deeply while Ragam Punnagavarali instantly feels meditative. Once again, very sorry if i stated anything incorrect or unacceptable. It is my personal thought only and may be perceived differently by every listener. Your Explanations and examples of various songs in different Ragas is very stimulating to listen to. Incidentally the composition, "Katpahavali nin Potpathngal pidithen" in Ragamalika, beginning with Ananda Bhairavi, sung by T.M.S., is a composition of Inuvil Veeramani Iyer from Jaffna, Sri Lanka!
