I praise the video author for the effort and ability for making the story interesting until the last moment, but I dont know if later get better or at least different the manga, because for what I've seen in 2 hrs of video it's just MC and plot entrapped in the same loop of: - leeching other party efforts/summons and drops (and Yes Mc level up with just staying close and without doing nothing pratically) - Mc mumbling the same bs speech of how much profit he has done (without a sweat ofc ) and crafting whatever Bs with OP system Pratically no character progression, several plotholes (summons are OP and destroy armies, despite a chapter before "they were comically weak"), so moments are incostintent childish, no action or at mininal level (MC become a recognized adventurer and reached lv 30+ , pratically making 0 zero fights himself if we dont count the 3 goblins.... LMAO 😂😂) In syntesis, This is another one of those, start off decent/interesting enough and then falls hard and I mean really hard. It got so underwhelming that you'll forget about it except the time loss spent on it 😭😭

Ren from Shield Hero actually does have an ego problem. Other than that, he isn't too bad. But he really does need a reality check and needed to stop thinking Naofumi was useless and that he was "cheating" for being so much stronger. You can't say Ren is 100% innocent after all.

@@DarkFrozenDepths Ah, but I can. He killed the dragon, solo according to the manga, and at several points had the highest level in the cast, even pointing out he'd been grinding those out to be stronger. He had reason to believe he was the best individual fighter, and could have taken them all one v one, save for the fact that the author liked to allow Naofumi to cheat the system. Again, he's not whistling dixie when he points that out. The Soul Eater and Glass were resistant to their attacks, and the latter used an attack that cut through their defenses. Meanwhile Naofumi's shields worked, despite no other defensive abilities working, AND he had an attack that could pierce her defenses, when no one else's could. Same with the Pope fight...in the anime. In the Manga there's not so much a fight thanks to the skill suppression field...which Naofumi gets around because, again, he cheats. Hell, even his going nuts moment that unlocks the curse is the most understandable of the 4. Naofumi only cared because HE was going to die(He admits that), Motoyasu's is the Cheer Squad telling him he's worthless, and Itsuki's is man number 2 in his party not only disrespecting him, but then using his PTSD trigger phrase. Ren's is specifically that his party members DIED. He even says, it wasn't that HE was facing death, it's that people he was trying to PROTECT died, and so he went nuts wanting power like what Naofumi had, and thus unlocks two sins...one of which is the ONLY sin in the entire story that has a negative statistical effect. All the others are bonuses to stats, but negative mental effects. Gluttony is negative mental AND statistical, for some reason. BTW, if your unaware, this trigger for Ren is because he died in his original world trying to protect someone, and failing at it(Basically the ending arc of Elfheim in Sword Art Online, except he got to the hospital and the other guy killed him).

@@SageofStars Still does not change his own arrogance over Naofumi at times... and even a few other characters too. Granted, some of it was due to how the worst parts of Melromarc treated him and made him into "such a hero" that he let his hero status go to his head. He's also nowhere near as bad as Itsuki or Motoyasu when it comes to being egotistical or arrogant in general. But Ren still did clearly voice out many times that he believe Naofumi shouldn't be as strong as he was. Ren even went as far as to cheat against Eclair as well in their duel when she was winning. And ironically, she was the one to snap Ren out of his curse series. And as a side note on top of that, he should have known better than to trust Malty at all, especially since she used literally the same excuse that she tried to frame Naofumi with, only against Motoyasu this time. In fact, he's seen her underhanded tactic be proven as "untrustworthy" multiple times and still believed her. There were still points were Ren was just obviously asking for trouble. He's definitely more of a "disappointment" rather than someone you'd flat out hate (again, like Motoyasu and Itsuki). That's cause Ren doesn't fully grasp any situation, something that he repeatedly fails at.

@@DarkFrozenDepthsI mean, he barely talks to Naofumi. He interacts with him on 5 occasions in the first season, and 4 during the second. During the Dinner, he disparage Naofumi having a slave, and then defending the practice...which I kind of get why he would, given the nation allows it, and it turns Aultcray into a big old bastich when he tries to call him out on it, when it's HIS nation allowing slavery(And never forget, the Queen supports the trade too, she's the one who got Naofumi Raphtalia for cheap). Meanwhile, the diner scene has him say Naofumi stole his reward money...which Naofumi doesn't deny, despite not doing it, so it's like...yes, he's a jerk, but Shield Hero is being a far larger one. Meanwhile, on the trip over to Cal Mira, none of them are happy with him or the Queen right now, especially since she's cut them off from money(In the anime, the manga implies that), and threatened them. I'd have personally been mad too, and maybe even sat out the coming Wave events myself. Finally, there's the finale arc, wherein he again berates them for not helping more with the 3 Infiltrators...but the anime makes it clear their attacks weren't working, so they backed off. Meanwhile the Manga has Glass destroy their boats, taking them out of the fight(and killing lots of knights making Naofumi demanding they forgive her after the world tour arc kind of a dick move).

@Stars the slave thing was because of how Ren's world was and unlike Naofumi, Ren didn't treat the world they were sent to as an actual world but instead as a game. That's also contradictory in a way as some games do have a slave system, but Ren's may not have had one. And speaking of games... Ren still wrongfully said Naofumi "stole" his money. Naofumi didn't deny it sure, but there's no stealing when someone does the quest first. Or would Ren say someone else "Stole his money" if they killed the zombie dragon before anyone, even Naofumi did? That's on the same level as the Cal Mira thing where "exp was being stolen" when NONE of the other 3 heroes was trying to move out of a spot they pretty much took over. Even in games, Ren's logic wouldn't fly as it's still "first come, first served". There was even etiquette for Cal Mira which wasn't being followed. And also, sure those 3 could be mad, but they still deserved it cause they sucked at being heroes, and even Naofumi AND THE POPE told them that during that fight. The Queen also reminded them and it was intended to get their acts together. But given the entire turtle incident and the other curse weapons, they didn't learn their lesson. as for berating with not helping the "infiltrators", that kinda goes both ways. They were too weak to fight sure... but there's still others ways they could have helped. Cause notice how the Queen prioritized evacuations when the Cal Mira incident happened. She quickly saw she and her troops couldn't do crap, so she prioritized safety.... as she should have. plus, Ren was mad that "Naofumi soloed the wave again". In fact, he was the one that clearly said that.

What do expect from asians the race who still in this day and age see females just like they are on the same lvl as dildos or male stroker toy... and god forbid one seem like she is better than them and their fake false bravado.

It changes later on when he levels up and unlocks summons who can help him in fights. Early on he runs/hides because he’s still level 1. See 1:16:00 or 1:45:30 for fighting that happens later on. As for picking up loot, 4:04 states he was hired as a porter/luggage carrier. It’s his job to pick up the loot so the party can focus on fighting. As for the good stuff, only he can see it ( 4:45 top right text) or pick it up. So at 4:28 his party can only see kobold corpses but he can see/loot the money/item pop ups because of the abilities he got when he was summoned. And since they don’t know about it, he can keep the pop ups for himself while handing over the monster corpses. Personally, I think this is a good one. Especially if you’re tired of the generic “super op with no effort mc acquires a slave harem” type stories that flood the genre. No harems, no slaves, and the story takes time developing his combat abilities.

I'm not sure when it's explained, but later on. You find Out There's a bunch of loot that Only he can actually see.
