Ishod Wair's Front Shuv Hack is how he place his front foot in between both trucks right in the middle. This hack makes Ishod wair's front shuv snap faster and higher with less effort. I tested Ishod Wair's front shuv hack and found it took less effort although it was harder to balance with a narrow stance. I'm still not sure if I'll adopt ishod wair's front shuv hack to replace my normal foot position but I'm going to keep playing with ishod's front shuv hack and maybe over time It'll feel more natural like ishod wair's front shuv.

Ishods back foot is further in on the tail. Maybe 3/4 inch from the end of the tail meaning he doesn’t need to put as much effort into popping the board. His foot is closer to the pivot point of the lever so the foot does a smaller movement to get a good pop. I tried this and found that my foot positioning combined with Ishods meant that having my foot in from the end but having my front foot half way between middle and bolts gave me that chilled shuv. Other points to note - his rear foot/toes/knee are pointing slightly forward. So the back foot kicks forward.

Great video bruv, I think one thing that deserves some attention is that Ishod’s front shuvs are 99 percent back foot - as we know the scoop is generally controlled by back foot regardless of foot position but Ishod exaggerates this by keeping his front foot entirely stationary which, in my opinion, is what mostly attributes to the lazy effortless steez of his front shuvs.

I never thought about it, but it makes sense based on my skating. I have my feet closer together for switch front shove, very similar to Ishods, and they pop way higher than my regular pop shove. But, the foot position for switch is because I couldn't keep the board with me when my feet were further apart. I think that was a leaning issue. I never thought about why they popped higher, though. I'm going to have to try this for normal front shoves.

Thanks a lot for this man! Been struggling with these for the past 3 weeks, I got back to skateboarding about a month ago after not skating for 15 years, and its so weird cause yesterday I landed more treflips than ever and I caught a couple of those with my front foot, I was hesitating if I should keep on trying after all those years and now been 32 is a bit harder but theres nothing I want more thank get back to it, and catching those treflips boosted me up real good man, but its so weird cause I got tricks down I never had before, im catching beautiful treflips and heelflips and almost caught an inward, I couldnt believe it, back when I was a teenager there wasnt no youtube showing us foot positioning techniques etc so the tricks we knew we learned those from our friends so after over analyzing tricks for the past years and a half now that I have my board it really helped, landes tricks I never thought I could BUT, i havent got down my kickflips the way I had em, of all the tricks im locking kickflips are the ones I had on lock all these years and now im struggling real hard with em, I land em but with no pop so its as if I eerent landing them tbh, but yeah man, how am I landing steezy front foot catch tres but cant catch my kickflips as I used to? Been practicing that only back foot catch before commiting and its poping and catching just like I want to but I need more commitemenr I guess.

The front foot's job is to chill. Be wherever but just sit back and wait. Its all in Knowing what it takes in your back foot to snap it around, then your front foot clocks in when the board is lined up again. You can literally just practice that back foot snap with your front foot on the ground. Tre flips are similar as well. Its that back foot doing the work, front just needs to seal it.

I find that tricks are situational. You can do the same trick with slightly different foot placements at different speeds as long as the end result is what you want. An example is a kickflip to 5.0 stall.. you may flick faster for that trick then you would have a slightly delayed flick to clear a 3 stair.. The end result is you land that kickflip because its what was comfortable and those tricks end up looking more natural.

@TheRodude34
@TheRodude34 2 года назад
yeah foot positioning is part of it but you could do just as steezy and effortless in almost any foot position. What I shod is doing better than most other skaters is he is rotating his tail around the front foot. imaging spinning a pin wheel where your front foot would be the center of the pinwheel and the edge on the pinwheel would be the tail of your board. In what direction, and how strong you jump, could effect where the true center of rotation would be on your board in every individual attemt. I shod "hacks" this by literally putting all his weight on his front foot right in the middle of the board and as he jumps he front shuvs at a straight 90 (imaging flicking the edge of the pinwheel with your finger). After It rotates his front foot just needs to move forward a little bit too back to bolts. This is also very useful when doing lazer flips and front 360 shuvs where you want the maximum spin.

Just recently figured out how to manipulate my front shove and having the back foot in the middle or just closer to the toe side of the tail gives you a really controlled pop on it as long as u pop str8 down and scoop simultaneously, and with my front foot I got the same issue cuz Im mad short but when u angle ur front foot ever so slightly like a kickflip it kind of makes getting that foot out of the way for sum reason easier

@xdrcx

I feel like the position of his back foot and legs/hips is crucial! Notice his back foot is angled inwards (closer to the angle of his front foot but not quite the same). Also as someone already mentioned his back foot is a bit further in on the tail, letting him pop easier and quicker. He scoops the board on an inwards angle, NOT perpendicular & away as many tutorials teach. This helps keep the board right under him

This inspired me to try front shuv for an hour yesterday but still no luck. My ollies on flat naturally travel in the direction of a frontside 50-50. So, when it comes to any trick where the board naturally goes backwards I can't get my feet anywhere near it. I hate that I can kickflip over 2 decks but I can't front shuv or even backside 50-50 a curb.
