I watched this show on doordarshan in india. After more than 30 years i still have the same feeling and love for the show. Its a masterpiece, hats of to Naseeruddin, Gulzar Saab and Jagjeet Singh, Neena Gupta amazing too.
This is one of my fav Ghazals of Ghalib. And this is one of the best documentaries I have ever watched. Love the Ghalib's poetry mostly his melancholic tone in every ghazal. I suggest everyone to watch it...

Beautiful serial and it gives us the life of people towards the end of Mughal rule and British colonization. Wonderful ghazal written by Mirzaghalib, Bahadurshah Zafar and Faiz. After over 150 years it still gives you feel of the Era. Jagjit and Chitra justified the poetry. 👌💜
Pahle Sanjiv Kumar ko role offer kiya gaya tha but unhe dates ki problem aa rahi thi. So as per Nasiruddin Shah He wrote a letter to Gulzar requesting for this role. Gulzar asked some other Actors but no film actor was interested to work in a Serial. 1 saal baad Gulzar ne Naseeruddin ko bulawa bhej diya. Its Director who is responsible for extracting the best of an Actor and refining his performance not the Actor himself.
