However, I do think that Zeke should've made the Dream Team in 1992. My Top 5 deserving players who should've made that team are (in order): #1 Jordan #2 Magic #3 Bird #4 Isiah #5 Pippen
I think the topic that doesn't get talked about enough was Chuck Daly not vouching for Isiah to make the team. Looking back in 1992, once Chuck Daly knew that Isiah wasn't on the team, Chuck Daly should've declined the coaching position for the Dream Team. But Chuck did not which meant that he "consented" for Isiah not to be on the team.
The argument for Dumars and Rodman to make the Dream Team is a bit of stretch, especially Rodman. From memory, the Pistons were looking for trade offers for Rodman because he was a cancer to the team at that time. I think the Pistons eventually traded Rodman to the Spurs for Sean Elliott.
I love listening to someone willing and able to pass on incredible wisdom to those around him. Thanks Dray for an amazing guest and for your continual quest for knowledge.
Love the commitment to realism Isiah and Draymond! Isiah was big in the 80s and 90s, you playin today. Only makes sense for Isiah's half of the screen to be in 240p and yours in 1080p.
never forget that a ref was caught saying to MJ complaining about a foul, that the ref did not see the foul, but because it was MJ, the ref will believe it happened
@@KDubb-ws9zc Isiah is always talked about in basketball with all the names you mentioned. Wth you saying he gets overlooked. lol He's just a real ass and a snake and everyone didn't like him, and always complains about it in all his interviews. 😂
I've seen just about all the extended Isiah Thomas interviews. Club Shay Shay, All The Smoke, Knuckleheads and other less known podcasts or interviews and I always learn something new from them. This man has alot of knowledge and is willing to share it. He just wants the best for the game that got him outta the WEST SIDE.
Steph is a combo guard. He is amazing On and Off the ball. For most of the regular season I'd say he is a shooting guard but when playoff time comes and everything slows down Steph is lethal in the pick and roll and controlling the tempo.. and basically trades the PG role back and forth between him and Draymond. Hes just an all round great basketball player.
That goes deeper than the hand shake, when Zeke and the Pistons would play at the Chicago Stadium Chicago Fans would cheer for Zeke with a standing ovation, MJ gets drafted, the Bulls start to get competitive, the Pistons starts their physical play, Fans turn on Zeke, pistons come to Chicago the Fans boo Zeke, Zeke started only claiming the Westside of Chicago being his home, no longer the City of Chicago as his home, Zeke is still the Best basketball that grew up in Chicago, I wonder why Dray didn't ask Zeke did he ever ask his coach Chuck Daley why he didn't make the team, Chuck Daley Coached the DREAM Team (Zeke is good for the youth in the NBA )
I can see Draymond finishing his career in Detroit and becoming a coach it would only make sense he's really the definition of Detroit basketball in the NBA 💯
Zeke why yall assume Jerry Krause was a good guy. I just don't think they owe jerry it was business and if he was good people cool but if he was just the figurehead who cares. I don't believe by default they or any player should always have to pay homage or respect to folks. It depends on the relationship too not just the money
Isiah Thomas himself is a liar, because he will never own up to his disdain for Jordan back then as a competitor or the pride he took in his and his teams bad boy image. Everyone knew that the 2 players didn't like each other, go watch Allstar games back then and the comments made by the announcers regarding it. At least Jordan was honest about how he felt about Thomas and the Pistons back then. But if you believe Thomas as he tells it he never had beef with any other player and he was a gentleman on the court, lol. When in reality he had beef with almost all his contemporaries and was a maniac on the court a rep well earned. Thomas is the worst type of phony and he's kind of nuts in how delusional he is about himself and his role in the conflicts he helped create.
@@KAye633 child ? I’m 37 grew up on traditional pgs like magic and penny I’m also a hooper played very well at the aau level gottss as let the nostalgia go steph cookin all them boys period
They say "Karma is a bitch and then you die". What goes around does come around. Look at Michael and Scottie and all that melee. Lord have his Mercy. This is knowledge for real.
Funny part is Jordan ain't even dead yet....and oh boy, is technology, and these great men communicating now biting his rich self right in the as*. I guarantee Jordan sits at home hearing all this sruff coming out and just being like "what...the....fu**"😂
@@mongoslade277 youngin, do you think Jordan is the only one Zeke rub that way? His reputation followed him, ask his former teammate,Adrian Dantely. Jordan is no fake , he still mean and tough, not begging to be like , nor for apologies.Ever thought, why Zeke, don’t talk about pistons badboys and The dream team coach, Chuck Daly(R.I.P)about his role in why his championships point guard wasn’t on the team?
My hometown hero 🦸♂, Isiah Thomas aka Zeke who I grew up watching 👀 him do his magic 🪄 on the basketball 🏀 floor. I used to live 🏠 on Damen & Ohio St. 7 blocks away from the Chicago Stadium 🏟 aka The United Center. One ☝ day I would luv ❤ to meet Isiah if he ever comes down to Orlando Fl. ☀ Isiah tells it like it is. All facts, no BS. Draymond thank U 🙏 for this awesome interview with my basketball 🏀 Icon. Chi-town Pride!!! God Bless!!! 🙏
What's Up Dray? You're my Favorite defensive player on Defence ever.. I love you Steph and Klay I would to get a he chance to meet y'all one day before it's too late! Warriors!!!? Let's get our 5 th good luck my grandmother is also a huge fan. She lights up the house with her shouting and has the most father's I got on to y'all bc of her
if KD didn't join, GS still had a lot of salary cap room to add one or two VERY GOOD players (not KD level of course) and they would have run back a 73-9 team... so simply saying that they wouldn't have won a championship the next 2 years is making a big assumption.
If u give KD all the credit for what he did in golden state, wheres the criticism for what he has failed to accomplish since leaving Golden state? KD has 2 playoff series wins since leaving the warriors. I love how nobody ever shares both sides of the story. They never keep that same energy😂😂😂
Hello my friend. Basketball is not like tennis or golf. No one person can win a chip, it takes a team. Durant on the right team got him 2 chips and 2 finals MVP. Picture this though, Michael Jordan joining the "bad boy pistons" after getting beat by them. Lebron james joining the "Celtics" with that monsters squad after losing to them. It would elevate those teams so much more above the rest, making a championship run look more like a walk through the park than a competition. I think that's the problem that people are having.
As a Dubs fan and recognizing my bias, still feel like saying KD “saved the Warriors legacy” is a bit much. I think that summer, ANY upgrade on HB40 and we’d’ve bounced back and got a few more chips. We just happened to go and get the second or third best player in the league at the time… but I’ve always believed that someone who was like a borderline All-Star or who was a more consistent 3-And-D guy (HB40 shot us out of a few of those Finals games) could’ve come in and the results would’ve been similar.
Why does everyone assume that if the Warriors didn’t get Durant the Warriors would not have upgraded at all? It baffles me. They went 73-9 and came within the final minutes of a game 7 to winning it all and people act like they would never reach the mountaintop again unless Durant is on the team. Steph has proven he can win before during and after Durant so that’s a garbage take.
Cavs won that becuz Cury, Bogut and Iguadala got injured 💯 anyone thinks they couldn't of won without KD obviously don't know the context of what happened
@@DarrellHardy-p8q Exactly! Although I’m not a fan of Draymond right now because I’m a diehard Knicks fan and he’s downplaying tf out of the Knicks injuries. We lost Julius Randle, OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, Bojan Bogdanovic & Jalen Brunskn broke his hand halfway through the 3rd quarter in game 7 down 12pts…and Draymond is laughing and scoffing at the injuries. I lost a lot of respect for him. A healthy Knicks team would have made the ECF and possibly upset Boston.
Shoutout to Zeek. He should have definitely been on that 92 dream team. And I'm disappointed in Chuck Daily for not insisting Zeek be on squad. He was the coach and Zeek won him 2 chips. As for Jordan, we all know he's a bonafide A hole. His own teammates despise him
I hate these people that just assume if GS didn't get KD, they wouldn't have won anything the next 2 years. first of all, 2022 disproved that theory.. second, GS had lots of salary cap room and they would have added 1-2 very good players to a 73-9 team and run it back... who is to say they couldn't make it to the finals again...
@@jegca it’s one of the craziest narratives I’ve ever heard, took an all time 3 game stretch from Kyrie and Bron as well as a major collapse from GS to come down to a single possession in a game 7. To think GSW were done after that is dumb, they would’ve continued their run through the West
Man I think I've heard Zeke from every podcast he been lol But man I always listen to Zeke, his knowledge in hoops is gold. But man OG, we need to take care of that internet 😅
Draymond, I started watching GS during your suspension. I was happy TJD had greater opportunity while you were out and I wrongly assumed that you had a negative impact on the moral of the team. I am so happy to admit I was wrong. Thank you for all you to help the team and the young players. Now, stay out of trouble! Being a Hoosier, TJD is why I started watching, but I'm a big fan of yours and the whole team now. I'm loving getting to know about all of you and the game in general.
Question for Draymond. In an early episode, you mentioned how watching film takes you 48 minutes since it's all cut/edited for you. my question is if you only have 1 angle, or if you get like 15 different angles for each play. Also wonder if you get film for non-Warriors games.
Great show Draymond Green with obe of my favorite NBA Players,Hometown Hall of Famer,Isiah Thomas!I love Mr Thomas historical take of Billy Knight Offense and the way he described today's position less Basketball, Green been the point guard.Example:Scottie Pippen was the Bulls point guard, not Jordan nor Harper!
My favorite player of All-Time! … should have had 3 Rings if it wasn’t for that ‘Phantom Foul’ on Bill Laimbeer against Kareem! Maybe 4 without the ‘Zeke Mistake’ against Boston! Things happen … You can’t create a narrative for greatness … the story of greatness is what we witness in real time which makes His Story!
Zeke said Magic and Oscar were the best PGs, because they were great and had size. For little guards, he said it’s difficult to compare him and Steph because they are very different players and played in different eras with different rules, coaches and teammates. He is not wrong. The Bad Boys would have left today’s Steph battered, bruised, bleeding, constantly picking himself off the floor, and possibly injured, and averaging less points, assists and FG percentage, but that is sort of meaningless because the NBA is different today.
They would've made Steph get in the weight room earlier. Real competitors answer back. The 80s and 90s showed players what they were made of. The mindset was different. I think GREAT players would be great in any era.
48:30 - only for the real ones: Dray had a good point talking about how the Traditional PG wouldn't fit in Kerr's System. The way Isiah Thomas broke down Kerr's offense, their progression to becoming champs, the KD trade and fact that defenses MUST react to EVERY action GSW offense runs, + the freedom/trust Kerr gives them makes GSW unstoppable before you get to the actual threes made or the crazy passes we've seen, is why he's a Living Legend. Ppl forget that playing that "traditional pg" role makes you very smart when it comes to reading the game. Not done anymore b/c of Stephs success which in turn was Bobby Knight's old system that Isiah use to run in College.
As a Native Detroiter, I got mad respect and admiration for Isiah Thomas.....but.... For Isiah's benefit, puleeess let it go Sir! As you stated in your introduction, in the City of Detroit you are Golden, Celebrated and rightfully so! In my humble opinion and with all due respect, all of this nonsense pertaining to Michael Jordan is BENEATH you....
First off, I'm almost certain when MJ called Zeke an Ahole he was referring to back then. That's why he said "You cannot convince me he WASN'T an Ahole" he said "wasn't" not "isn't" he was speaking past tense (to his behavior during the Bad Boy Pistons time), not present. Secondly, if he misunderstood that or got offended or whatever, I'm almost certain MJ does not give 2 shts.. nor is he going to go out in public and apologize cause again, he does not care whether or not Zeke got offended.
Top 10 PGs Magic Johnson. Steph Curry. Isiah Thomas. Oscar Robertson. Jason Kidd. Chris Paul. Jerry West. John Stockton. Steve Nash. Kyrie Irving (My Opinion)
I would like for people to realize what the Warriors did without KD after KD...😂 If KD don't come that summer an "NBA Starter" would have taken his place. Remember what happened that playoff yeah KD got hurt.... Still made it to the end, Klay gets hurt... Please. I wish he would have "Remembered" two years ago. Smh. 👎🏾 WARRIOR GANG! OR REALITY GANG! GREAT TEAMS DON'T CHANGE!!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Zeke played with Dennis Rodman. In '92, Stockton led the league in assists for the 5th straight season, and 2nd time in steals. Zeke was 13th in assists.
You can’t use assist for Steph Curry because of the system he plays in because of the ball movement as Dreymond mentioned. The last statement he made he didn’t say Steph played hurt, Bogut got hurt game 5 and Andre played hurt. Not to mention Dreymond got suspended for game 5.
