Very interesting, brother Paul. You reposted this video, it's elder, but today it is even more relevant. In deed it's very courages of you. And you convay your topics calmly, objectivly, like a good teacher.

I'm just in the first 5 min of this talk, and the word'hudud' in the introductiontext made me realize how totally drowned, influenced, am in the mindset of today. Hudud, ofcourse, we need limits, lines that cannot be crossed, there are no hudud in the west anymore. That little, big word hudud. My immediate reaction in my mind, sadly, to many things that are in it's roots a no go area with real bad consequences, is like full of counter arguments, untill I stop myself and think again. And this is all due to rhetorics in the surroundings, mainstream oppinions. As a muslim you constantly have to rethink and correct yourself. Offcourse I know better and live by the islamic rulings, but it's the constant hammering on your senses from the mainstream, that is so horrifying. It's an everlasting battle. So thank you, dear brother Paul for speaking up. Jazaka Allah khairan!

Brilliant lecture and answers to questions, well done Paul. A brother mentioned a taxi driver who refused to serve a gay person. My response is how can you expect to do Dawah by adopting such a strict attitude, what if the gay person was secretly curious about religion? By driving them away you are not bringing them nearer to Islam in fact you are playing into the narrative of the red tabloid media. Regardless if someone is gay, lesbian, LGBT or whatever they claim to have emerged from a tadpole if you want to invite them to Islam you need to adopt a kind understanding and welcoming heart. In my local mosque in Lewisham South East London we have new Muslims taking Shadah regularly, some have tatoos, some wear shorts, some females have excessive make up, some wear their pants lower exposing their underwear but we are reminded by the Imams to be tolerant and allow them time to adjust. A smile can bring more rewards than praying all day and night

On that note, Islam is a "DEEN" that trains to overcome the lusts of one's self! humble thy self to your lords will. in following the Sunnah of prophet Muhammed Peace & blessing upon him you find: to not satiate you hunger fully nor over eat!!! When fasting you abstain from "Lusts" whether Halal or Haram . In addition to abstaining from Gossip, looking at Haram stuff & even intercourse with spouse !!! If you can rise above hunger & thirst you can easily leave other Haram desires including smoking, Drinking Alcohol, etc....

Can anyone clarify for me what is the shariah ruling / prescribed punishment for public promotion of homosexuality? Eg if you carried out a pride march or distributed material claiming that same sex acts are halal, under Shari'ah governance what would the punishment be?

i am an Arab Qoranist . and homosuaxality in Qoran is not a big Sin at all like the Worshippers of the Persians Idols called books of hadith and Sunnah inspired from the jewish Talmud and Torah claim . God in the verse 16 of Surat Al Nisa he said that the max punishment of two men commited Sex publicaly with the witnesses of 4 witnesses is only by Scolding them with words and the word used in Qoran is ADHA and Adha in Qoran is the scolding with words . then God said that if they repent God will forgive them . but when we go the Hadith we will find the Student of the Jewish Rabbi Kaab Al Ahbar ibn Abbas who narrated halp of hadith he said that the punishment of homosexuality is by killing both mens . and this ibn abbas take it from Torah and contradict the Holy Qoran . and from big scholars whom agreed that the punishment of public homosuaxilty is by only scolding them with words are the Head of Hanbali Sunni School ibn Hanbal , Al chaarawi ,Al ghazali and the Master of Mufasirin in the first ceuntry Mudjahid ibn jabr Al makki about the people of Lot they were a gang of robbers and al cities where bad memebers including the wife of Lot . and people of Lot God punished them because the sin shared by all cities and they attack caravances to rape boys like it said in Qoran wa ta9ta3on Al sabil .

I would like to add that Allah conceals the major sin for the first time but if one is repeated offender then Allah will remove the veil from the major sin and expose the criminal and that's why the Quran says 17:32 Do not go near adultery. It is truly a shameful deed and an evil way. And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said: قُلْ اِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ الْـفَوَا حِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَ الْاِ ثْمَ وَا لْبَـغْيَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَـقِّ وَاَ نْ تُشْرِكُوْا بِا للّٰهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهٖ سُلْطٰنًا وَّاَنْ تَقُوْلُوْا عَلَى اللّٰهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ "Say, "My Lord has only forbidden sexual immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know.""
