I much prefer grappling against the fence with knees to body and elbows to face..we dont see that anymore..only 2 types of mma now...wrestling is not a martial art
@@lenxbot777z5 Seriously Read your comment again regarding "grappling against the fence" with elbows and knee strikers. Lmao wrEsTlinG is NoT a MaRtial art, dont order cheeseburger if you dont Like cheese, dummy Dont watch MMA if you don't like grappling,
Performance bonus to Khamzat but not Islam is bs. They literally fought the same fight. Actually given the caliber of the opponents what Islam did to Hooker is arguably more impressive than what Khamzat did to Li.
Dude Khamzat carried his opponent over to Dana White and waited for Dana’s attention and the submitted him. It was kinda more bad ass than Islam’s win. Khabib showd everybody the way with talking to Dana during the fights though.
This is why i love Helen Yee and The schmo. Those 2 keep it simple, general and easy to understand when interviewing Non US/Non Fluent in English fighters. Others like Brett, Ariel and journalists throwing some complicated idioms and terms to them. SMH.
i love how islam is so humble it almost makes him unconfident this man is going to be unstoppable once he truly understands how good he really is you can see him finding it .
Damn this guy could become champion very soon and break the consecutive defence record the way he set that takedown from the right hook was so sneaky and perfectly timed
He takes Dustin easy so he probably will be champion after Dustin takes the belt. He’s just so op at this point man has hasbula in his corner it’s over wit
You may think it was bullshit but the landscape was different and there’s “business” going on behind the scenes that they don’t blast into the media. Do I think Chandler deserved it? No. But that also doesn’t mean Islam should get the same opportunity from a win over Hooker, regardless of his 9 fight win streak.
@@eryghifari6317 So what? You go cower in the corner of your room and cry after a loss like that. He's ranked 6 in the division and a professional and Islam made him look like an amateur from the streets. Imo Dan Hooker will follow a path of losses after this...bye bye
Imagine being confident in your wrestling, getting solid submissions wins in the past, beating your latest opponent with wrestling only and then this monster dominates you completely and says "I choose easy way, I know his grappling/ground game not so good". Damn
What's up with people saying Dan didn't take this fight seriously? He's a fighter... What kind of fighter isn't confident in his skills? He didn't talk shit about Islam, he just had confidence he could win. He had 3 weeks to train for one of the best grapples in the world.
I better not be seeing anyone call Hooker a bum or journeyman, especially when y'all were hyping him so much before the fight. Islam dominated a high ranked UFC veteran. No excuses. Edit: hype = "he almost knocked out Poirier" "Dan's knees are so good" "his TD was decent in his last fight" "Islams never gaced competition like Dan"🤦♀️
Honestly Islam is most likely the best lightweight in the world. It's between him, Charles, Justin and Dustin. Dude looks so bored when he fights, like he's not surprised at all.
Hes great at winning but makes for boring unexciting fights when they just take them down and submit them right away. Like I appreciate the skill but I wanna see fights.
One day....hes ready right now..if he does not suprisingly pass away or get badly injured (God forbid) than he will defenently be champion i think, just a mather of months
@@Rhizzome the whole idea is to subconsciously give off the idea that these athletes drink monster to be great fighters and you should too 🤭😂 but clearly everyone knows they won't even drink it at all in most cases. I would love to know if his reasoning is the same as others.
Damn I feel for Hooker. Leading up to the fight he was kinda over confident though. The Dagestanis are just on another level when it comes to grappling. No chance.
He chose to fight, not cuz he thiught he is better, but becuz he fleed from new zealand, they are slaiwing people there even worse than in america or europe, like Australia too, he needs the money, ufc even lets him and his family sleep in the ufc pi until he can afford a house World is nuts, you dont have to feel for him, his bank account is probably 50to 500 times more than yours or mine, so he is good.
@@frederic6998 yeah maybe he was just joking around. Either way he is a top bloke for taking this fight on short notice. No shame in loosing against Islam. Hooker will for always be a fans favorite.
Khabib said it and Islam has said it. Guys try to "wrestle" in MMA, do Judo in MMA, do BJJ in MMA. These guys have come from Sambo the most complete grappling art and yet they and created a style off of it to fit MMA and with with help from AKA they have become unstoppable. I beg anyone who is interested in why they are so dominant to go watch Khabib break down on a BJJ channel where he explains his dagastani leg lock and how he trains it and how he adapted it for MMA truly beautiful!
Tbh I think the only way to "discourage" these Dagestan's fighting style is to sharpen the knees and do like Lerone Murphy did to Makwan Amirkhani when he shoot for single/double leg. That was a nasty KO but the thing is that their speed is surreal..
People wanted to hate and did hate but they just don't understand the levels. The scary thing is with there humble attitude and people around them they will never stop learning!
hes not humble :D he streight up said "ohh this was so easy i dont even need a shower" virst of all, Ewww, second of all thats not humble thats arogant as hell :D
@@arrs3361 im not crying, im just simply defining what the wrod "humble" means, Khabib, Islam, the whole team, they are great fighters but none of them by any means are "humble". dont be a bish
9 fight win streak now, dominated hooker made him look like an amateur can't be denied now. If glass jaw chandler gets a title shot after 1 win and against hooker then Islam who has a 9 fight win streak deserves it more
@@benjiii3407 huh ?? Are you aware of his early career ? Dude once went blind from a punch, got tkoed by a 45 pounder. Got koed or tkoed by Charles. If you have 4 tko/ko loses that doesn't necessarily means you are a glass jaw. But every solid punch he takes, makes him wobble or drop
@@divineoverhand5307 going blind from a shot has nothing to do with “glass jaw”. His brain took damage there. TKOed by Patricio where he was still up on his feet right after
The future of MMA is going to be devout Muslims from Dagestan and Chechnya, there’s no way people from the west can match these guys dedication and discipline.
I honestly hope not because that would be pretty boring to watch. What im waiting for is the next evolution and new breed of fighters who will be able to counter this style of fighting. This has happened countless times before throughout the history of the ufc and mixed martial arts. Its a matter of time..
Honestly, I cant stand guys that bring religion in to it. Imagine if someone said it's going to be great when all the fighters are Christian champions, just enjoy the skills man.
@@truthseeker7383 I agree but I do think it’s the fact that they are so religious that helps them train as hard as they do and not get distracted by all things prohibited in Islam.
He’s really been working on his English a lot. It shows he (and mostly all the fighters from the eastern block and especially in khabibs circle) really cares about the image they project and respect the views by putting in the work and effort to be able to communicate and connect with them. They don’t just fight for money. They life cause it’s their lifestyle and they promote positivity and reach many people by their fighting platform. I respect them and all the work they must have put in to get their English better. That’s probably all he has done in his spare time after his last few fights. Kudos
apparently no one remembers his last famous post octagon interview at UFC fight night with Thiago Moises. God damn overseas casual soccer fans taking everything literally lol
@@fayaz5960 judging by that horrible grammar you’re either emotional due to me hitting to close to home or you copied and pasted that sentence through google translate. The fact that you didn’t know about the famous Islam post Thiago Moises fight night fight pretty shows me what you are. A SOCCER fan turned mma fan, and soccer is something us Americans say because we refuse to join in with the world saying it, like the metric system
This dudes a P R O B L E M. Very impressive win. Cannot believe how many good fights we've had, and HAVE coming up this weekend. It's truly the golden era for UFC fans IMO. And yes I have been watching for a long time and was there for the early 2000's.
i mean personally i dont think poirier is scared of anyone if he retires after olivera i think he derserved it hes been there done that you know what i mean.
He made Hooker look like an amateur while the latter went the distance with Poirier. Islam is an absolute monster and should become Champion very soon.
If beating hooker gets you title shot let me fight him lmao hooker is complete trash he considered retiring after the chandler fight and he really shoulda
Damn the Dagestanis are super calm as soon as the bell rings, its so scary. They just focus on getting the job finished… no fear, no emotion - just action.
He does it because Monster wanted to sponsor Khabib on a separate deal, but wouldn't give it to his crew. So Khabib said F you and went with Gorilla energy
He actually wears a lot of really expensive designer clothes if you ever see him and khabib now days they really wear Gucci and Prada and stuff haha they have Abu Dhabi money
That's why UFC moved him up to 5. Dana said Dariush vs Islam is the fight to make, but Dariush said on his last fight that he's gonna go on a break for a year on fighting because he has a baby on the way. Its safe to assume that's he's out for the contender and title talks, His ranked 3 might be affected too after this and after the Gaethje vs Chandler fight.
Makachev vs Poirier will basically be Khabib vs Poirier 2. with a younger Khabib and an older Poirier. Hopefully oliveira beats dustin and we get a fun match up
I find it so funny that all the lightweights got to sigh relief after Khabib retiring only for his lil bro to come in the picture and be just as dominant but Atleast we’ve seen Islam sparked out before so there’s some hope for these guys
I feel Islam vs Porrier would be an even more dominant performance than Khabib vs Porrier. Because Islam always looking for submission where as Khabib enjoys playing with his food.
@@curated_euphoria_experience good question! Everything media was right Couldn’t stop the takedown so that’s that . Did the best he could tho, hats off to him
@@jonnewilliams2312 i dont think he did the best, i feel super bad for him, as UFC just streight up used him. Oponents like Islam you need months of preperation with heavy weight wrestlers, proper crew, proper team. Hooker had 3 weeks, no team, no coach, kind of sucks. Even Conor who sucks at wrestling managed to hold off khabib for 3 rounds and stop takedowns, im sure if hooker had good time to prepare this wouldn't have ended so fast
@@alexj7640 your absolutely right! He’s definitely not someone you’d want to fight short notice, with that being said I do have to give hooker his props since no one else wanted the fight
What's scary is that he doesn't hesitate to attempt a takedown in the center of the cage. He will go for the legs from anywhere inside the cage. Atleast with khabib opponents try to get away from the fence cause khabib mostly attempts takedowns near the fence but with this guy the opponent needs to be ready for his takedowns even in the center of the octagon.Plus he is technical on feet so it ain't easy to knock him out.
much respect for Islam, all us Hooker supporters knew it was a tough ask, Islam made it look so easy his ground game was next level, or was hooker defence not there? either way hooker got paid, Islam must be fighting winner of gathje vs chandler for #1 contender. ..
@@eathinnz8925 No need to get damaged so bad just like when Hooker fight dustin & edson. No punishment needed because Hooker didn't trash talked. Both are good, and got paid without injury in short fighting time.
Islam is very intelligent and astute in answering questions. Much like his tactics he thinks before he takes the opponent down. I enjoy watching him and ofcourse Hasbuallah We are all one unit until someone points out the difference in us ..that is the trigger .
MashaAllah! Congrats to Islam! He is a true Real Deal, a true Khabib's and Nurmugammedov's school representative and inheritance. He is a well rounded fighter has a great striking and an excellent MMA ground game, he will be a champion soon and will keep the belt for awhile IA...! 💪

I respect the effort to learn and speak english by Dagestan fighters. Not that easy to have the courage to speak infront of a crowd in diff language. Why brazilians cannot learn it?
One things for sure if Dustin wins then islam, just as khabib did, will beat him easily. However, oliveira is no joke on the ground and he can also fight standing up. He is a well rounded fighter. I would rather see oliveira vs islam because i already know how dustin vs islam goes.
I disagree, Islam and Dustin would be amazing. Reason why Dustin is familiar with the dagestani style and would be able to make adjustments to his game…and we will really see Islam challenged. Against Charles the dagestani pressure and style would be new to him.. he wouldn’t know what hits him.
@@nyteowl8069 Oliveira presents some interesting problems for Islam on the ground. He's definitely not getting caught in a kimura and his striking is clean
Honestly, I feel this way about almost every division. And the only division UFC seemed determined to mix up was HW, the rest has been pretty much the same for a while now
Almost the same as CR7. But take into account Team Khabib is sponsored by Gorilla energy drink and these cans were Monster. That's why he even turns the cans 'backwards'.
Dustin is tougher and more durable - and both he and Oliviera have championship heart and IQ. I just feel like Dustin will crumble Charles when he lands that heavy hand on him, whereas Chandler couldn't close it out against Charles, I think Dustin will. My two cents, both guys deserve the strap but my bet is on Dustin. He's just a gritty fighter that finds ways to win... gonna be a great fight come December.

@@Raiders67 Hell no. Islam beat Davi Ramos who was a bit world champion. And his last fight against Thiago Moises was a multi degree black belt. These bj guys can't beat Islam.
Khabib and the team trying their level best to not make the mistakes with Islam's career run that were made up with Khabib's run. It's good to see Khabib not just cornering Islam for the fight but for his pathway ahead. May this man get the opportunities as he deserves it.
