@ً ً the thing is, Islam has taught that the happiness that the Lord has promised his servants is happiness unimaginable. Simply meaning as a human being the concept is out of our grasp. But the idea is, u won't have any problems and will always be happy. It's not just "eternal happiness" it's the true happiness and peace we and no one has ever felt in this limited world. Allah says in the Quran to which I translated: "Ask whatever you may want, and on Our side, there is more." meaning no matter how much u desire, the Lord will always have more for u. There is absolutely no way it can be boring. We say these things because we thought it's the same on earth minus the problems. The Prophet himself has said that humans judge on what they see. meaning we can only know what is known to us. Jazakallahu khairan, may this helps improve ur understanding.
@@cirobarachiel7696 sorry are there any prophet like that? Maybe it's because our understanding of the prophet differ but I've never heard of such a prophet in my life. There are many prophets to whom I place my faith as per the Lord's will. But, there is only one prophet to whom I follow his teachings. He is Muhammad Ibn Abdullah (peace be upon him). The one who abolished slavery, the one who successfully promotes true equality between races, the who raise the place of women, the one who, in the land of nothing but sand, create the beginning of a civilization that would be remembered throughout the world, the who liberate the Arabia and all of human beings by bringing the message of the Lord, the one who was stoned, who was exiled by his own family, was sent assassins to kill him, was sent an army as huge as 10:1 against his own to destroy him, the one who, if not for him, you won't even be able to read this facts about him. You could find all of the most suffering human being in the world and none can be compared to his. He is a king who lives like a slave. He tie a stone to his stomach cuz he eats that little. People around him, respect him, revere him for his manner and his akhlak. He would never insult a person. He is the best human being that ever lived. That is the prophet that i know of. I have never heard of any prophet with the characteristic that u say. Maybe if you actually care to learn about the truth and not just being ignorance you would know. Lie and speak all you want, in the end that is all it amounts for.

I've always been interested in Arabic and Muslim history, as it is very short spoken in classes in Portugal. The only time it's mentioned is when we are talking about the time of Reconquista, and they are always portrayed has enemies and vandals. Always been curious and this video is just great. Hope more people have curiosity and are open enough to fight through the stereotypes we get about Islam and learn how to respect it. It would be awesome to cohexist with it
They lasted for hundreds of years. Of course smaller libraries existed, just like they do now. But what do you suggest, scholars walking or riding camels from city to city to basically "google" some info? Of course the biggest universities and centers of knowledge in the richest cities will have the biggest libraries.
but that was the only way to progress at that time. their was no railways or cars at that time to transport fast so they had put all in one basket also no Muslims thought mongols would be so brutal that they will burn Baghdad. i think Baghdad was too valuable to be burnt to the ground and no Muslim must have ever imagined such thing would happen, No one ever imagined that a non Muslim army could ever reach near Baghdad, except they did and turned Euphrates black.
I hope you didn't give misinformation since this video failed to mention. Islam didn't contribute anything to this golden age. Islam just invaded a culture that was already full of arts and science
it saddens me to see the larger than usual quantity of dislikes this video has. As a student of history I feel it my job, not just to seek to enlighten myself on my own culture, but also that of ones less familiar to me. In our modern world intolerance and bias has no home
I LOVE cultural anthropology and world history. I don’t get why some folks are petty with their own species. I’ve seen commenters marginalize the Islamic golden age on another channel. There was no political intrigue nor battles in the vid; however, I quite enjoyed it. I knew Muslims made many scientific advances during the European Dark age, but I didn't know they were the ones that Saved Aristotle, Galen and Hippocrates for the modern day.
That's partially inaccurate since a good chunk of these works were also well preserved with the Byzantines who also played a major role in the development of European thought.
The Dark Ages were not as dark as people used to and still think. I'd say there's a persistent misconception of the Eueopean Middle Ages, especially since Enlightment.
If it weren't for islamic world's defeat of Mongols in Ain jalut the Mongols would conquered all Europe they were at river of Hungary and Hungary lost 400,000 soldiers in the river one battle alone . The Muslim world battle against Mongols saved the Europeans.
7:28 might I add something, we Muslims acknowledge it not as being "torturous" but as a challenge to ourselves! and ALL of them who have memorized it, keep the verses in their memory by heart, and recite frequently so they don't forget or mispronounce the words! It is indeed, very difficult but not impossible!
Quran have maybe million of hafiz (people who memorized the whole Quran). And I think that's what makes Quran still the same and authentic if we compare it with another holy book.
"Hafeth" is a title given to the person who memorizes over 100,000 of "Hadeeth" (what the prophet peace be upon him said and did) including the body of Hadeeth (what the prophet said peace be upon him) and the series of narrators who passed the body of the Hadeeth until it was documented.

Actually, JC had already postulated "Give unto Caesar what belongs...". But this video ignores the real issue: the FATWA, and what happened when the Arabs and their culture managed to become a majority. It wasn't the Mongols that brought an end to the so-called "Golden Age", it was Islam itself. There was never an infrastructure within which the ideas of a few great men could flourish and take root and become institutionalized. All cultures have their geniuses, but all cultures don't have the capacity to absorb the work of these few individuals. Al-Gazali had the authority to issue a Fatwa, and almost did against Ibn-Senna, which would have condemned him to death. Once Fatwa became instituted, all the knowledge from India to Iberia, that was the accumulation of the work of mainly Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, and Hindus, was marginalized and eventually died out. There was no widespread system of learning. Islam is notorious for making no distinctions between religion and all human endeavors, not sure where the narrator got the notion to the contrary. Sharia is completely institutionalized, and once the arabs and the muslim majorities, forced or self-converted, became the majority, the Sharia prevailed. Sharia is a complete social order- hence the early thinking along lines we would cal sociology. One royal funded "House of Wisdom" is not going to furnish an entire civilization with the infrastructure to make innovations and knowledge take hold and become integral to that civilization. The Christians were great at this. Islam can't do it to this day, even with all their massive wealth. The influence of the so-called "House of Wisdom" has been greatly exaggerated, the proof of it is that not much came of it. That Greek philosophy was solely transmitted by Islam, is absurd. Constantinople didn't fall till 1453- did the Greeks just forget about their own philosophy? Who do you think was making the translations in Bagdad, the Chinese?

Would love to see the unification of Muslim lands once more. The Sykes-Picot agreement and the disease of nationalism has really set the Muslim world back a few centuries. 2 billion Muslims, vast area of land, potentially the largest army in the world with a incredibly young population alongside have vast amounts of natural resources, really would be great to see how this would transpire under a single leader and open borders.
And ibn Sina was a Persian or known as Tajik in the east he born in ancient greater khurasan ( todays Tajikistan , Uzbekistan, Afghanistan) he studied in Balkh and Baghdad . In literature he known as Abu Ali Sina Balkhi
Sad to see how ignorant the Christian World is today, still exploiting, colonializing and causing wars all over again and then wondering why other regions are fucked up today. In fact nothing changed after the cruisades, only their names changed, now ıt's not officially for god, it's for freedom and democracy lol.
Indeed, the present is depressing. Chaos, terrorism, wars, poverty, etc... We will teach our new generations to become more tolerant unlike what our parents and grand parents taught us, and we will defeat ignorance. Indonesia already succeeded.
Linguistically , yes . But in the past , they used it to designate a certain school in " philosophical " thought : that of the greek philosophy as opposed to kalam "philosophers" who were referred to as Mutakallemen whether they were mutazilites or Asharites . The application of the term " falsafa" to include kalam is modern . One has to keep this in mind when he reads kalam books as not to get confused about how Mutaklemeen criticize falsafa ( philosophy) while in the same time engage in the learning and teaching of logic and its application in intellectual thinking which would undoubtedly be called "falsafa" in our times but was just called "nazr Al aqly" النظر العقلي : "thinking via logic " in their time .
They said about the Arab islami civilization: George Sarton says about the Arabic language, its universality and its role in the Arab Islamic civilization: "Muslims have attained the geniuses of the East in the greatest antiquities in the Middle Ages, and the Arabic language was the greatest language during these eras. The valuable literature was written with great originality, and any post office had to know that With the culture of the times, he learns the Arabic language, and many non-Arabs have done this. "French orientalist Gustave LeBon decides in the book" The Civilization of the Arabs, the World of Arab-Islamic Civilization, "and he says:" The virtue of the Arabs and Muslims in the field of civilization was not limited to themselves. The West, they are indebted to them in their urbanization, and this influence is theirs alone, for they are those who have gone with their moral influence the barbarians (Crusaders). Richard Cook" in his book "The City of Peace" says that Europe owes a lot to Arab Spain. Cordoba was a lamp bulb for science and civilization during a period when Europe was still under the grip of filth and primitiveness, and the Arab Islamic rule in Spain created a place that made it the only country that escaped The eras of darkness. ”And Libri says:“ If the Arabs did not appear on the scene of events, the European renaissance was delayed for several centuries. ”René Gibbon says,“ Many Westerners did not realize the value of what they borrowed from Islamic culture. Nor did they understand the truth of what they took from Arab civilization in the past centuries. ” Gustave Le Bon says in his book, The Civilization of the Arabs, “The West took on the Arabs the ethics of dressage and the respect of women. If Christianity is not, as some people in the West think, it is fair to women but to Islam.” The Chinese scientist Li Guanbin said: "The Arab Islamic civilization is one of the most powerful civilizations of the earth, and it is able to overcome any obstacles that it faces, because it is a human nature, a world-class performance, scientifically, intellectually and culturally, and after I deepened in ancient and modern Arab literature, I became more convinced that the East possessed magic Civilization, literature and culture, and that he has the word thought and the organized mindset, so the Arab Islamic civilization carries the factors of survival, because it is difficult to destroy, because the pillars of renewal and vitality are available in its flowing pulse, and it is one of the strongest civilizations of the whole earth, because it absorbs everything that is useful from the other and visualizes Its in itself to become one of their children, unlike the contemporary Western civilization, and the Arab Islamic civilization characterized as a global performance and the message, humane character, pure and tolerant essence " In the end, I cannot find a saying that I can conclude better than what he said, "George Sartona in his book Civilization of the Arabs, as he says:" The Arabs had previously led the world in two long phases. The first remained about two thousand years before Greece and the second lived for four centuries during the Middle Ages, and there is nothing to prevent this. Peoples to lead the world again in the near or far future! ! "
@EXTRA LARGE All scholars attributed to the Persians are Arab scholars, or their origin is Arabs. Even if we assume that they are not Arabs, a distinction must be made between the scientist and the civilization that fostered it. Unfortunately, some of them do not see the Arab civilization in the scholars manufacture. In America, Iraqi, Arab and Japanese scholars contribute to its development. Can these people be credited with their products to their countries? For example, it is said that Iraq is the one who produced such and invented such, in complete isolation from America's role in directing and caring for them? Or is it right for credit for their products to return to America first, then it is okay to refer to the origin and origin of the scholar? Overall say populists and boobies 1. They ignore the role of Arab scientists. 2. They pseudo the proportion of Arab scholars related to their names, such as Abu Hanifa, or their titles, such as Imam Muslim, to the Persians. 3. They overlook the role of Arab-Islamic civilization in the manufacture of Persian scholars. They are Arab civilizations and their efforts are an Arab cultural product. Also, the effort of the non-American scholars in America is an American cultural product. The Persian Empire lasted for nearly 500 years, and during this period it did not produce scholars as much as the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphate produced! ! | But when the Arabs gained influence and power, the Persians spoiled the lineage of some Arab Muslim scholars who were born in Persia. This is the truth of the Persians. Add to this that approximately 70% of the current population of Iran are of Arab origin and the Persians have a history of stolen lineages and lands. They attributed most Muslim scholars to them! ! And they attributed the Arabian Gulf to them! ! I do not deny that there are scholars among them, among whom are the victory of Islam and Muslims, but we deny them fraud and forgery of history and genealogy. Let us remember together a little bit that when the Ottoman Caliphate (which did not bring the golden age as the Arab disputes did before it) appeared and the Ottoman Caliphate, which is the longest disputes, dominated the Arab countries, Iran had a Persian rule of its own if the question was if most scholars were Persians as they say why the Persian rule The Islamic did not bring the golden age. The answer is simple because most of the scholars were Arabs and not Persians, and this is what the famous Persian writer Nasser Burbera said in writing (Twelve centuries of silence) that reveals in the forgery of the Persians and the Magi of them and the Jews Persian history and the forging of the lineage of Arab scholars There are hundreds of books and articles written about Arab civilizations and Arab empires, including the following: - The book "The Civilization of the Arabs" by Gustave Le Bon - The book "The sun of the Arabs shines on the West" by Sigrid Honke . . Book: "The Great Arab Conquests" by John Bagot Globe. Book: The Arab Empire, John Ba Gott Globe. - The book “The Impact of the Arabs on European Civilization”, Abbas Mahmoud Al-Aqqad. And the book “Nasser Burbera Al-Farsi (Twelve Centuries of Silence)”, which talks about the Arabs ’preference for Persia and says that“ Persia did not flourish except when the Arabs came and talked about counterfeiting the ancient and modern Persian civilization. ” When the Arabs came and the genealogy rigging that was conducted under the supervision of a Persian Jew in order to make a gap between the Arabs and the Persians and says that the genealogical forgery and the Persian civilization is the largest fraud in the history of Persia , it would obscure the facts and make gaps between the Persians and the Arabs in addition to imposing Shiism on Persia in the 16th century which In order to amplify the gap. And all this and more.
MDM It's evident that your views are produced from a more Europeanized framework as oppose to a global one (ofcourse this isn't a problem as natural bias Is inevitable, we can only strive for it). When for centuries oppressive religious institutions dim the light of knowledge within much of middle age Europe, one can only think of religion as that. Clearly, in the video above, we see that not to be the case- a religious society ruled and governed by religion yet fueled on the ink of the scholars' pens. Also, there was a different situation in southern Europe as they weren't so 'dark' as their neighbours to the north, and yet religion was also what they revolved around. Speaking from an Islamic standpoint, we are ordered in the Quran to ponder at the creations of Allah, to look at the sky, and often, we are commanded to think. It is necessary in Islam for one to think about religion rather than jump right in - this can be seen when God refers to the non-muslims or the infidels not as people who are just simply wrong, but rather as people who do not think. Islam is a religion which commands us to think and use reason, the fruits of thinking, is that you will become more grounded In your principles and faith, ( no religion should feel insecure about being false if they are the true religion). You used the example of Saudi Arabia, there really isn't anything religious about them, they just implement the laws to gain the support of a large strict religious movement that arose in the 18th-19th centuries (wahhabiya). Saudi Arabia isn't anything but a business in the middle East. However, Iran is a country that resembles more of the Islamic nation (although there are aspects that it must change) Iran actually funds extensively into education and is known for it as well.
MDM I'm not shunning anybody, nor did I say I oppose a certain 'sect'. Bin Laden and his group although some might say are influenced by Saudi Arabia, doesn't mean the majority of Saudi Arabia is fanatic. Also, I wouldn't say the Islamic golden age was ended due to fanatics, (depends on what you mean fanatic) many theologians and s contributors to Islamic jurisprudence were prevalent in tis era and used to coexist with many philosophers and people of both worlds and religious knowledge (Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Ashafi etc. ) As mentioned in the video above the Islamic golden age wasn't declining or stagnating, rather (like other Golden ages) it was halted due to political or economic inconvenience (in this case The Mongol siege of Baghdad, which crippled any further growth of the once known Islamic golden age).
MDM Although I'm more in support of the late Ottoman presence in the middle East, the Hashemites should have ruled as oppose to the Saudis. Well that's what happens when you don't do what the brits tell you to do in the early 20th century. (Both sides were backed by the British btw)
MDM the same countries in the third world who would abandon the mixed economic ideals would later sympathize with communism thus actually making them the 20th century version of Soviet 'imperialism'. I don't agree with either total or rigid capitalist ideals nor communism though.
The golden age of Islam. My fav period. Lot of things found. Thank you for this video. Baghdad ,samarkand and a lot of cities prospered under them. Brilliant video. We always appreciate your hard work and dedication towards these videos.
Very fascinating video It's unfortunate that some people will dislike this video just because they dislike Islam You don't have to agree with or like Islam to still acknowledge its rich history and contributions Hoping this doesn't deter you from making more videos on Islamic history
We now do not live as our ancestors lived from science and education, but all of this was eliminated with the identification of scientific curricula that lead to the emergence of an unconscious generation, and this fact even in our Islamic countries do not teach us the glories and history of our ancestors, but recently mentioned some philosophers and change of thought and logic with the help of social networks
The closest example of Arab detainees in Western prisons without charge, with fabricated false charges to prevent him from completing his work while not giving up his mother's nationality to obtain by force american citizenship to benefit from it, for example
Love this. Al Jazeera has a documentary series that was, for a time, free on RU-vid all about the Islamic Golden Age. Highly recommend that for anyone who can find it and is interested in more about the subject.
You have no idea how much this (as yet) two-pronged series has brought me joy and wonder, and how persistently it has motivated me to go out there and research, during days such difficult as the last. There is nothing which gives me as much hope as humanity's insistent displays through history of its passion for knowledge and of devotion to the means and the cause of making it widespread. How much do we owe them? These men - scholars, slaves, enthusiasts - have given the ultimate test of devotion to the human spirit however warped their motives, and however warped their circumstances. They believed in making the world better for another humanity in the future, and that, to me, is akin to a devotion for humanity itself. Please, continue! And thank you, for your work.
@farhad darfsh......are u muslim? I don't think so.........being a hafidh is a great honour in islam.......and the Almighty allah will give a hafidh prize in both earth and afterlife........ So please..........Don't say something that u Don't know my friend
@Rayan No, it's actually opposite. Being a non Arab makes it more easy for you to become a hafidh because you have limited vocabulary and thus less chances of humbling the words. And it doesn't matter wether you know Arabic or not if you're a hafidh you have the reward. I don't know why some people just make futile attempts on Islam even if it leads to making a fool of themselves.
@Rayan The point is that they could lead the prayer. The point is that they could preserve the Qur'an unlike other religious scripture. The point is that even reciting the Qur'an is rewardable deed. The point is that some people are remarkably over smart to ask the question what's the point.
This new video is amazing! This time period is seriously under appreciated in the west and I’m glad you made such a good video about. Look forward to more!
Honestly though... every other history is underappreciated, no matter from which pov you're reading it in (except for american, I feel like that's just pushed into everyone because of its global dominance and relatively very short history)
My heart aches for the disasters that happened at Baghdad, Nalanda and Alexandria. How much more advanced humanity would be today had we never lost that knowledge 😭
Very cool video! Thank you! Everyone should share as means to bring understanding between people. As you've very well explained, the so called "west" inherited many traditions that come from our middle eastern brothers :)
@@trevrockrock16 As in the USA where each state is almost as culturally different as can be. The same can be said about Europe. Even though you might call it the "West". Many of the southern nations of Europe are actually very influenced by what were both the conquests and the intertwining of relationships with the Muslim world back 1000 years ago. And there are still many landmarks, words and costumes that back to those times. It is very much impossible to say that there was no influence or inheritance from those times. And you might disagree with their current culture if you may, but being Muslim is as wrong as being Christian, agnostic, Buddhist or what culture you may want it to be. That is to say, there is nothing wrong with either 😉
