When the Romans entered West Africa in 46 B.C., they saw Africans and called them Maures, from the Greek adjective Mauros, meaning dark or black. It is from Mauros and the Latin term Marues that the word Moor is derived. Since the inhabitants of North Africa were black, the Romans and later the Europeans called them Moors. It is no coincidence that the land inhabited by the Moors was called Mauritania and Morocco, meaning "Land of the Blacks."

ok, here's the absolute truth, we are all 99.9% the same genetically speaking, so our genetic difference is minimal. The biggest difference without a doubt are cultural differences which we should learn to appreciate. Whatever history took place, it's in the past to be learned from, let's remember that regardless of race we are only slightly different from one another which makes us unique! Still we are more similiar to one another than we might think (99.9%).

@DIJV79 what does European bankruptsy have to do with whether Islam is more civilized that Christianity? For one thing Europeans have been leaving Christianity in droves. Secondly, many of these countries with troubles are there because they have too many social programs for their people.

Chreat presentation. But please keep in mind that "Moors" is an Orientalist term, and it does not represent all the Muslims of Islamic Iberia. The word comes from Mauritania, referring to the Almoravid and Almohad North African dynasties that also ruled Muslim Iberia, or Al-Andalus. The "Muslims" of Al-Andalus represents Arabs and Amazighs. Also, the word "Moor" has led to the term "Moro", which is now very derogatory. Hugh Kennedy's writings on Al-Andalus also assert this. Thank you

The notion of the early Berbers as being whites or Caucasoid is a new and racist one related to the concept of the African Hamite. Certainly the original Berber-speakers were never referred to as anything but black or something near it until the 12th century and were otherwise considered the color of Abyssinians and other so called Indi. @nenu western societies like which one other than the US?well in the US simply because its a country of immigrants and all the killing already happened,the US is the result of many years of struggling by minorities who were not allowed to worship freely,besides other conflicts,the fact that YOU dont see it happen doesnt mean it doesnt happen,besides if you want a united and prosperous country it wouldnt be a good idea to suppress the people who live in it due to their choice of religion
