Good stuff mate! Mind if I ask what beach you camped on? We’re heading up there soon and trying to find a sandy spot we can anchor the boat at for a few days.
Hey, We've camped on 2 beaches there. Cairn beach which is on Whitsunday Island and Curlew Beach which is on Hook Island. Curlew Beach (the one in the video) is very tidal. The shallow reef prevents you from getting in and out on a low tide. So you have to time your arriving and leaving perfectly. Other than that, it's a great camp spot. Cairn beach has mooring balls about 15m off the beach in about 10m of water (bring a blow up boat or something to get back to shore.) Cairn has a Coral rubble beach. Hurts the feet if you don't remember shoes...Cairn has massive tidal flow in between the 2 islands. You can flick big stick bates off the rocks for pelagics.
