Island Pride Band was established in 1994 with Albert Hekesi, Jackson Hekesi & Glen Jackson. A 3 piece band that grew over the years with family members Sally Hekesi, Rick Tuhipa, Haanz F. Jackson & Moka Kalauni. Island Pride Band have recently decided it was time to put out another album THE BEST OF Island Pride due to be released by the end of this year 2016.
Their latest single release #Sipolo is a writen collaboration of Albert, Jackson and Glen. The story of how a man is in love with raw fish. Its a fusion of NEW SKOL and the vagahau Niue, it is one of the directions that they have been wanting to experiment with. Their band member Glen has recently returned home from living in NZ and has brought with him the music experiences to share with Island Pride. Together they will continue to take Island Pride Band into the future while maintaining their Niue Island sound, heritage and Identity.
