Testing out the capabilities of the GoPro Hero2 on a recent trip my girlfriend and I took to Kaua'i, Hawaii. Scuba diving, cliff jumping, doors-off helicopter, 8-hour waterfall hike, sea caves rafting, surfing and lei-making.
Shot with GoPro Hero2 [720p, 60fps, 170º] and Canon 60D [for about 1% of the shots]
Also used X-shot 2.0 extender pole with GoPro.
Music: "Afternoon" by Youth Lagoon
Edited with FCP7 and Magic Bullet for color grading

Thanks, I highly recommend the anti-fog strips if changing climate or elevation. And some sort of extender pole to get unique angles. Good luck!

Thanks David. I used Magic Bullet Looks 2 to create a customized filter and adjusted it for individual shots to really bring out certain colors and give the video a 'warm' feel. Trick with the GoPro is to use it outdoors in sunny conditions. Otherwise the quality really suffers.

Very simple, just takes a bit of pre-planning. Shoot someone entering and exiting the water with the GoPro and use the midpoint frame when the water is covering up the lens to cut to another similar shot.

Thanks man! Yeah you should definitely get one of the new GoPro Hero3 cameras. Checked out your videos and if you can strap on a GoPro to your apprentice 15e and learn to shoot with it, I'm sure people would contact you for aerial shots video work. Good luck!

this video is sick I got a gopro too and am planning on going out to hawaii. I just have to find a way to get the money to get out to Hawaii. this is the best travel edit I have seen.

WOW Scott, WOW! This video just showed up because I'd been watching some other travel/adventure videos & all I have to say is DAMN. Excuse my language but I'm just that impressed. I just recently returned from a 5 week trip across Europe where I started filming & editing my own videos so I know how hard it is to produce high quality content. I've been studying videos like yours to improve my own skills for future videos. I just wanted to say great work! You just earned yourself a new subscriber!

Ryan Wilson Great shots in your video - love that one in the light tunnel. In terms of feedback, I usually keep my videos fairly short, under 3min if possible. And use a mixture of slow motion (60fps) and normal speed just to mix things up. Other than that, a good song like the one you picked really amps up the energy!

Thanks. I used Final Cut Pro to edit but have moved on to using Premiere Pro CC for all my editing. As for tips, just make sure to get a variety of shots/angles, shoot in 60fps for slow motion, and find a good song to match the vibe of your footage.

lewis smith shot with the Hero2 on this one. wanted to use 60fps for slow motion so had to go with 720p
