This is a very beautiful artform, almost like contemporary dancing meets tai chi. As far as a "martial art" I'm not sure where this would rank as far as effectiveness in the street, ring, or dojo but I do enjoy the creative form of expression through the human body.

Kuokong Luli No. Neijia was popular among security officers in ancient China. Xingyi experts fought in contests. Yang Luchan got famous thanks to his fighting skills. Bagua experts fought in the boxer rebellion. All MA are made for combat. If you want mindfulness and self cultivation, seek a temple.
@@murilocaruy I was with you until your last sentence. "Made for combat" does not exclude mindfulness and self cultivation. The union of the two is probably the main point of Chinese martial arts. If you want combat only, seek an MMA gym (and even there, you are likely to find some principles of mindfulness and self cultivation, just with a lower profile than in Chinese martial arts).
Jup its like he said Martial arts is about killing efficiently. The rest is just Cultural bullshit covered on top. Your level as martial artist is reflected in your combat ability if cant even do a jab after 30 years of kungfu then you have wasted your time. Noone can accept the reality so most of them uses this no combat and meditation bullshit as an excuse
