What a great discussion and insight to this story! I just finished reading it two days ago and its made quite an impression on me (I too acquired O'Connor's complete stories and am starting at the beginning). I've watched some other videos discussing the story and no one mentions the significance of the actual Geranium. I'm no literary expert but I couldn't help but think how misplaced both the plant and Old Dudley are, there in the big city of New York, and how fragile each one is. They both also experience a fall, or tumble, that turns out to be very significant (one down the stairs and the other out the window). It's remarkable how someone so young could grasp, let alone write about, such intense and profound emotions. Thanks for making this available to all of us! 🥰
