"BEIRUT/JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Israel rejected global calls on Thursday for a ceasefire with the Hezbollah movement, defying its biggest ally in Washington and pressing ahead with strikes that have killed hundreds in Lebanon and heightened fears of an all-out regional war.
Despite Israel's stance, the U.S. and France sought to keep prospects alive for an immediate 21-day truce they proposed on Wednesday, and said negotiations continued, including on the sidelines of a United Nations meeting in New York."

Actually Israel DOESN’T have the right to defend itself as the occupier, against the people in the territory it occupies. But the occupied people ( who it is obligated to PROTECT) have a right to ARMED resistance and use of force aka freedom fighting, according to international law. Also the occupation has now been ruled illegal.

Can anyone please answer this question for me? ANYONE out there! What does the American people actually benefit from this relationship with Israel? Seriously. We benefit from our relationship with China, India, Mexico, South America, Central America, Japan, Europe in general, and of course the many countries of the African Continent. We give them "something", and they give us "something" We offer something to China, and they return that gesture with "somethings" that we need and want. We give something to NATO, and NATO gives something back, in the way of at least catering to the many American tourists, as well as other business ventures. Saudi Arabia gives America something. The "Middle East" in general, has given Americans plenty, in way of rare ores and certain food products, as well as "Himalayan Pink Salt" 🤣 (Not from Himalaya! ), and petroleum products. Countries that we have less dealing with do not receive much attention from us, because there is no mutual benefit to that relationship. What does Israel produce that benefits the United states citizens? Their people get universal health care at our dime. Their people get robust miliary support at our dime. Their people get so many resources from America, including cold hard cash in the billions. But what do the Israeli people give back to their "American Ally" in response? In what world does one country slavishly supply another country with anything they want, while receiving nothing in return that actually benefits the PEOPLE of that giving country? WHO DOES THIS? PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG ABOUT ANY OF THIS, BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE TODAY WITH AMERICA AND ISRAEL.

What ceasefire? There has been 8000 rockets fired from Lebanon and none called for a ceasefire, now that Israel responds they call for a ceasefire.
