Not really eilat was Israel's since 1948 but in 1967 we took the Sinai peninsula and then we gave the Sinai peninsula back as a part of the peace treaty but if you meant pre 1948 then you are probably right but it was not through a peace treaty
I used to do this journey every morning when I worked at the Taba Hilton and lived in Eilat in 1994. Back then the Israeli immigration desk was in what looked like a converted shipping container and the Egyptian side was a wooden shack. I went back there in 2010 and used these new facilities, it was great. The downside is where they've cleared ground to create what if known as Taba Heights they've trashed all the dive sites we used to go to.
I’m from Israel, Egypt is beautiful I’m not Zionist I’m a Jew. And before some of you if you want to curse on this comment, please let this be a family friendly one because I am a kid.
which passport do you have? why do you need a 14 days visa just to travel in the Sinai? After the pandemic, hopefully July/Aug, I plan to start my journey from Amman Jordon -Petra-Wadi Rum - Aqaba. Maybe I can skip Israel, is it possible to take a ferry/boat from Aqaba ,Jordan to Taba or Dahab Egypt? this way I can continue the rest of Egypt's journey. Any tips would be helpful, thank you.
Hi, when I was in the Sinai there were ferries from Nuweiba and Taba in Egypt to Aqaba in Jordan. But I am not sure these were daily. Your itinerary is great in Jordan but Israel is a must see. Very different from Jordan. Read sea coast and snorkeling is much better in Sinai than Jordan or Israel.
@@maolsuperstar Thanks for the tips, I def want to see this Eilat land crossing after Aqaba + Nuweiba + Dehab, then continue to Luxor. Do you have videos of this continuing of your Egyptian journey? when did you visited these places? how can I find the website for the ferry you mention? thanks!
I have some videos of Israel and the Sinai Peninsula in this list: bit.ly/3chsv61 Excellent places in Sinai is Dahab, Blue Hole, St Caterina monastery and Mount Sinai. You can see some videos in the list above.
I visited in 2017, so things might have changed now. You can rent easily a car in Jordan and Israel, not that easy in Egypt. You will need a visa to travel from the Sinai to the rest of Egypt. At the time it was not easy, besides there were security issues. Land routes in the Sinai where not 100% safe. I am not sure about the situation now.
@@dcrafton3988 people without land. 😂😂 Your Israeli historians debunk you just like Mosche Zimmerman, Ilan Pappe, and Avi Shlaim. You Israelis cannot be honest for once?
Good info in this video. Do you know if when you cross into Taba and want to continue on to Cairo if you can get an Egytian visa at the border? Also if you dont mind me asking how much did the taxi cost?
Thanks for your comment. I don't think that you can get the Egyptian visa in Taba, you just get a 14 days pass to the Sinai. The Egyptian visa better to arrange it in advance. Taxi should be between 30$-50$ to Dahab. I recall we paid around 50$ because I called Dahab and arranged to have a driver picking us, but certainly you can get it cheaper if you arrive early to the border and negotiate hard.
MAOLsuperstar I think what you did with arranging a taxi ia better because of all the hustle I saw at the border. If you do have his contact still I would like to have it please. I am thinking of visiting in September crossing that same border.
@@nafimh4742 sorry I don't have the contact. However what you can do, pick a hotel or a guest house in Dahab and arrange with them that they collect you in the border. One more advice, try to stay in one of the camps on the way or Nuweiba. I am sure is authentic and less touristy. Good luck!
sorry, crap info: Anything south of Taba is South Sinai and that is very safe!! Plenty of tourists there. You are just trying to scare the viewers so you can look cool for being 'brave' ;)
Mishkafofer haha that’s funny, still your funny comment doesn’t change facts, check that out and get some knowledge, ifamericansknew.org everything is in there, I am not going to argue as i prefer saving my energy for good stuff 😁
Elsayed Elsisi dream on you racist piece of shit... you’re lucky Lots of Israeli come to your shitty country because without that you won’t money to have the phone that you’re using right now to write such dumb and racist comments
Hello ive been reading some coments on Google opinión that say that u can not enter taba with profesional cámara lens , because they will take it from you and charge 300 dollars to send it to the airport check point. Have you heard about this ?
Always used to be that anyone entering Israel through Ovda (going back a bit there) with what was deemed 'professional' equipment like underwater video cameras was stopped at customs were they had to complete a declaration and then on departure from Israel the equipment was checked out to make sure they hadn't sold it because at the time import duty on 'professional' equipment was 100%. if you turned up at Ovda departure and couldn't produce the kit you had to pay an assessed duty charge on it.
Sinai isn't dangerous or anything, as long as you're not in the far northern part, as there are a few terrorist organizations there, but our army's working on it
Can I just ask a simple question? What was the point of going through that whole mission? Was Dahab worth all of that hassle? That's what I'm left wondering after watching this lol
Dahab used to be a dusty, dirty laid back little village back in the 90s. Now it's a tacky tourist trap but the diving and snorkelling is still great. You can also get cold beer and decent, safe, food there, and if you're a toker the local produce is pretty potent.
Is there an ATM in the egyptian side? How much time required for border crossing paperwork? Did you pay tax at israel or Egypt side? As i saw in the video the officer was saying for tax?
I recall that there is a window where you can change money in the Egyptian side. You pay the tax in Israel, not in Egypt. I think the officer said "taxi".
@@maolsuperstar On the Israeli side you had to pay tax to go down into the Sinai but not if you were only going to what was then the Taba Hilton (I think it's now called the Steigenberger after Hilton cancelled the franchise) you didn't pay so guess what Israelis crossing over told the officials collecting the tax? When we went down there to do my divemaster course in 1993 we said Taba Hilton only, which was partly true because that's where the first training dives were completed, then we went on to Dahab and Sharm without having paid the israeli tax. Fun times?
Just watched your video, thanks for sharing! How do I go about booking transport in advance? I am hopefully travelling to Sharm and I am nervous. Can you post a link of reliable transportation services please?
Hi! I think Thing That The Best Way To Go is to contact the accommodation where you might stay. They probably will help you. Sharm is far, probably you want to stop in Dahab or somewhere else half way…
Hello Tomer, I do not recall having to organise any visa in advance, so all I needed it was managed at the border. I believe though that the visa you get only allows you to stay in Sinai, not to move into other parts of Egypt, for example Cairo.
Not Taba and all the rest of the way down to Sharm can be dealt with at the border. I do remember having to submit my UK passport to the Egyptian consulate in Eilat the night before dive trips down to Coral Island and doing passport inspection there but it was all very relaxed.
What a great experience..Thank you for providing some information from this video.. Can you tell me if it's the opposite and I'm Egyptian? Did you find Egyptians going through the crossing to Eilat
@@DannyK1992 how is the COVID situation in the Sinai area? I read from Jerusalem tour guide that although 80% of Israeli have been vaccinated, the country is still not open to foreigners. After the pandemic, hopefully July/Aug, I plan to start my journey from Amman Jordon -Petra-Wadi Rum - Aqaba. Maybe I can skip Israel, is it possible to take a ferry/boat from Aqaba to Taba or Dahab Egypt? this way I can continue the rest of Egypt's journey. Any tips would be helpful, thank you.
We used to cross over in Israeli-registered cars all the time. But one of my colleagues tried to cross the other way into Israel in his Swedish-registered camper van and had great difficulty getting it legal to drive in Israel, when he sorted that out Israeli security tore the thing apart at the Eilat border. Don't know how things are now but it used to be that Israeli-registered rentals cannot cross into the Sinai.
apparently there is a ferry from Aqaba to Taba, but is not daily. You should check timetables. I have been near the border of Jordan and Saudi Arabia outside Aqaba but never crossed it. Not sure it is open for tourists.
yes u can ksa Jordon then from aqaba either the fairy or private yachts to Egypt my friend is sea captain has his own yacht bassed in sharm el shikh doing that excursion aqaba-sharm
Please can you tell me how much money they asked you to pay to cross the border. I have many doubts and terrifying comments from different travel blogs that say that there is a lot of corruption at that border and that apart from paying 50 dollars for your visa you pay other things. You can help. I will be very grateful for the information.
I am from Egypt but live in USA now , I can assure u south Sinai is perfectly safe just stay away from north Sinai , and always have a guide u trust when u go around in Egypt , there are lots of cons who might take advantage of you cuz ur a foreigner .

Welcome to Egypt dude. I'm sorry for the hassle you faced here. Hopefully with time, it'll be easier to travel between our two countries. I know a lot is going on in Israel right now. Please stay safe and take care. Sending all love from Egypt 🇪🇬 🇮🇱
I’m an Israeli Arab from Tel Aviv, I love visiting the Sinai and Egypt in general, it’s a beautiful nation and such a gem in the Middle East. I am really sorry about the insurgency in the Sinai, but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to visit its beautiful shores. Hopefully next summer I will be back in Egypt, speaking lots of Arabic, and giving gifts and presents to villagers. شكرا 😭

Will go soon, good to be prepared what to expect on the border. I'm a bit excited on the transfer from the border to taba - I've also arranged a transport tough....
@@maolsuperstar Yeah, I have a local guy arranged, but based on his communication style (and my overall assumption on the egypt people's mentaliy on precision) I'm still uncertain.... also, its hard to judge when I will actually arrive to the Egypt side (we go to israel by plane, then take the buss, then pass the border control) - and if the guy will be still there if we late :)

Great report, excellent photography, and a region worthy of filming. I am Egyptian. I would like to know the things you did not like in Taba or Dahab, and was Egyptian security disturbing you?
Hello, I think I enjoyed all my stay in the Sinai. Egyptian security was OK, they tryed to help. Video here of Dahab ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mJTQEePHrzw.html
@@youseftarek3674 : They appear to come from either Argentina or Uruguay because I heard them talk briefly in Spanish with an accent from those countries, which is very similar. If I had to guess, I would say they are Argentines as there was a large Jewish community in that nation.
I can't remember but it was not expensive. Extracted from a Web page from 2018: "From Eilat, Israel to the south of Sinai by land. It’s a very easy crossing and cheap to reach the border, all you need to do is to arrive at the border and cross for a cost of 120 LE (Egyptian pound) entrance fee"
I've met many israelis in egypt egyptians don't really care where you are from as long as your here for a good reason such as tourism they're treat you very nicely

And then IDF would have lost all of their numbers? C'mon. Even Israel's leaders knew they can't keep Sinai. Only delusional fools like you think like that. And btw, Egypt is not Palestine. Anyone who is gonna put their hands on Sinai isn't gonna see the sun of the next day.
