Pioneer Songs:
The jews that came to Israel during the 1st."aliyah"(immigration) between 1881 -- 1910, brought with them songs that were based on folk and Chassidic melodies they heard at home, also from West Europe.
Hebrew words were written to these melodies, which the pioneers used to sing on happy events, or to comfort and encourage each other during hard times.
