I think this fear of tampering with electronics this way that Ian had was way to out there. I’m a cyber security guy so I do have fears about what war will be like in this more digital era. The fear should not be about exploding phones, but phones being used as a way to piggyback into more necessary networks or being used as surveillance devices (these are just obvious examples). The answer isn’t just dump phones either. It’s making sure that our security infrastructure is upgraded and maintained.

Actually your phone, or more precisely the battery can explode. Now you would have to figure out how to do it , not when the phone is charging but when you using it .

@@LoupDeFer-p9v I suppose if I can gain access to a phone (this is hypothetical and I’m speaking of a cyber attack), I could force it to run multiple different functions over and over. This would lead the battery to heat up, but getting it to the point of exploding is a stretch. Theoretically if you could get a damaged battery into the phone then make it overheat. Generally I think the amount of things you can use someone else’s phone for, in a cyber attack perspective, is pretty varied and it would be easier than doing something to make it explode.

@Xalgucennia the battery has the potential energy to explode, you would need to adjust the outside to become deadly ( case to shrapnel ). The biggest obstacle is the thing detonate on call , most times phone would explode when charging, means to much energy. Of course if you fuck with it you could put small amount of C4 in the package of the battery but that's mean you would have to do this purposefully.

@@atrain7050 Inverters don't need a lot of help to blow up! It's not the software, it's the heavy-duty capacitors. I don't know much about the design myself, but in the early days of panels being readily available, I worked with some that powered remote equipment and the inverters had to be replaced quite a lot.

Because that's a part of FCC regulations. Basically just means that it's been analyzed and doesn't emit more unintentional signals than is permitted by regulation. Most any electronic device will have such a marking if it's been through the FCC approval process.
