The remarks of this "legal scholar" are grossly distorted or downright false characterizations. He falsely uses a distortion of terms and international law to claim Hamas engaged in genocide while Israel has not. A terrorist attack by Hamas against its avowed enemy is not genocide; Israel destroying infrastructure, killing civilians by the thousands and simultaneously forcing the majority of Palestinians from their land is the very definition of genocide. He even says at one point that Israel is only targeting Hamas terrorists, but that's obviously false and insulting. If they believe a Hamas member is in a church occupied by 200 civilians, and they bomb that church to kill that one suspected terrorist, what kind of sick calculation and logic is that? The Israeli govt doesn't care how many civilians they kill in Gaza; in fact, they favor killing civilians as part of the genocidal murder and displacement of the entire Palestinian population. This gives them a great excuse to do the ethnic cleansing they favor anyway. It may be that Hamas sees such horrific action by Israel as beneficial to the Hamas cause, which is also sick. I condemn their assault on Israel, though the oppression and cruel conduct by Israel on Palestinians is obviously a cause. But it won't serve humanity, peace in the region or Israel's image in the international community to continue wholesale slaughter, starvation, displacement and destruction of the very infrastructure that is Gaza, turning it to rubble. The UN security council wanted to condemn this Israeli action but was blocked by the US; the international community overall is strongly opposed to Israel's large-scale war crimes and genocidal conduct in Gaza. We can condemn Hamas, as we should, but must condemn Israel for their totally disproportionate and brutal war crimes against Palestinians in the name of "self-defense".
