Really nothing to do with the choice made here. God returned their land. By giving it away, did it represent a lack of respect for what God had done? Many lives have been lost & too many issues have now arisen by that choice.

Bortherly love is the most precious because Jesus orders His believers to practice this love. But it is very hard to live out because many people have the sinful nature like Gain, who was jeaulous of his brother Abel and then kill him. Even Jesus was trapped into death partly because of jealousy of the priests of His race. Not to mention Joseph was sold as a slave by his jealous brothers. this is not about that, this is about Jesus leaving the 99 righteous for the one sheep that losts its way(lost in the world, sinning) and bringing back that lost sheep into Christ. this situation has nothing to do with this parable
Off base totally with that comment. The BIG picture was the LOSS of so many Jewish lives because Israel agreed to all those terrorists being released for 1 man! It was a mistake & history has proven so.

I believe they may have felt at the time it was the right thing to do, or they came under a lot of pressure? But, so many lives have been lost by that one decision.

I went into Gaza in 2003, to Gush Katif. So sad the beauty I saw is gone. So I have a question. Since God hated the sins in Sodom and Gomnorah doesn't it also make sense that He is laying down judgement for the same sins being committed in Tel Aviv? By the time you reached the last one it hit me so strongly. This is why our Jewish Saviour says He leaves the 99 to get the 1 lost sheep. Most likely from the last Torah Portion that the descendant of Egyptians may enter His House after 10 generations. I reflected that this is why they would have set up a community there. There were directed in their decision by Torah. Also can I just pause to say I am so proud of Israel and the Jewish People for this kind of thinking and love for one another If given a choice today, I'd rather belong to a people who would spare nothing to rescue me than what I've seen displayed by others even in the current situation. I am shocked that they would just leave their people there to be tortured and mistreated. When I look at that young soldier I see how poorly he looked and I remember the situation well. Then you look in contrast at the prisoners set free and they looked like they were on holiday in a Jewish prison. They seemed well fed and cared for and having the time of their lives when released. Never mind Am Israel, Adonai will fight for you. He says in Isaiah that He has stored up the vengeance in His heart and He looked for someone to assist Him but found none so He won the victory Himself. I am left a bit confused by your thesis, how the biblical stories are relevant to the current situation of the hostages in Gaza. Many Jews demand you surrender to Hamas, if that is what it takes to get the hostages back. On the other hand, you remain steadfast in your resolve to defeat Hamas, even if that means never getting the hostages back alive. From my perspective, this is indeed what you must do, and you paid too high a price for Gilad many years ago. Not that he wasn't worth it, but the problem is paying such a high price was seen as a sign of weakness by your enemies, which directly led to the hostage taking on Oct. 7th. They thought they had you and they could demand a king's ransom from you, but you certainly surprised them by not playing their game. Kudos for that!
