Learn history - Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 unilaterally, and allowed Palestinians to have elections in 2006, which Hamas won. The only conditions set by Israel was that Hamas recognizes right for state of Israel to exist, and renounces terrorism, both of which Hamas refused (this is the reason Israel started blockade of Gaza). These are the same conditions PLO agreed to on 9 September 1993 in Letters of Mutual Recognition sent by Yasser Arafat, which were prerequisite to negotiating the Oslo Accords.
