Germany didn't change a bit, it just hiding its true colors. Remember most of hitl@r cabinet worked for German government and state and military untill the 80s
History is written by the victors. Humans are fundamentally flawed. If you think every great war or movement is free from exploitation, murder and or terror you are so lost. There is no right side of history in this war.
Hamas is an autocratic organization of terrorism. Israel is a democratic country with freedom of press. The Israeli Arabs in Israel can critize the government of Israel. It is wrong to be on the side of Hamas. The Palestinians never critize Hamas but it doesn't mean that Hamas is the right organization for the Palestinians.
I must say that I virtually do not see such reports in prominent German spoken media. While this report is for an international audience, the media in Germany in their German spoken program for the German population very rarely report about this systematic torture on a giant scale which affects virtually everybody of the thousands of Palestinian prisoners. While Germany's official call for the release of the Israeli hostages is absolutely necessary, morally imperative, and correct, I am missing any official call of the Germany government for the release of the Palestine prisoners (of whom many are like hostages) and the termination of their systematic torture. As a German citizen, my impression is that the German government and most media do not regard all people as having the same human value and the same right to life.

Germany is always on the wrong side of history. The German people have the strength to change that if they cared for humans as no human should ever go through that
The majority of them are hostages not detainees, a big number of them are women and they have young kids amongst them too. This is reported by izraelis groups too
Its not a prison if people there arent charged with any crimes. These are detention camps, many of the people inside entirely innocent, many minors. Otherwise they wouldnt have released over 40% of them back (after months of torture)
Keep in mind that Israel is also currently holding Palestinian children in these camps. They have been for decades. A 7 year old Palestinian boy was recently released.

@@emamshaon581nonsense, in World War Two the Soviets only liberated the camps in the territory it captured. There were camps all over Germany, they were liberated by different allied forces.

@@nickorme8112 I'm pretty sure the OP is criticizing Germany for failing to embargo arms to Israel. AFAIK, Germany has never supported Israeli use of torture, but Germany is allowing the sale of weapons to support the Israeli effort to fight Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis. This is presumably how the OP considers Germany to be on "the wrong side of history."
@@canitbethat Perhaps, I won't speak for OP, but you are the one suggesting they support Iran and their proxies if they do not support Israel as being on the right side of history. I'm saying there are third choices, not aligning with either and condemning both. Leveraging diplomatic, economic, and political to push for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance for Palestinians does not require aligning Hamas or anyone else. The right side of history is not on choosing one political ideology, ethnic group, or organization, but siding with our shared humanity. Even when, especially when, any of those groups denies that human dignity to another.

That is true. The UK started the war over 75 years ago. But this is of little relevance in the effort to find a peaceful resolution to a war which has raged for 75 years.

None of the Israeli hostages were raped or tortured by Hamas and not one Israeli has reported being raped on October 7. Also, the Israeli military admitted that they killed many Israelis themselves, on October 7, when they implemented the Hannibal Directive. Didn't you see the recent article in the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz?
Ask the three Israeli hostages that escaped from Hamas and waiving white flags surrendered to the IDF. Oh that's right, you can't because the IDF blew them away.

Can you refer? The videos of the released prisoners of the Israeli's speak of abuse etc. The hostages released by Hama's do not speak of the same treatment. Not saying it would be a pleasant experience in captivity, but it has been very clear in the way the prisoners/hostages have been treated..

Thank goodness Israel is a modern democratic state where abuses can be exposed and addressed. If only Palestinians shared the same values, there wouldn’t be a war.
Israel is an apartheid state. Listen to the reporter: Thousands of palestinians are picked up from the street and thrown in prison camps without trial. Not to mention the systematic torture. Palestinians have no judicial, democratic or human rights in this apartheid state.
Except the Israeli government does not accept that, I believe it was the times of Israel, maybe the Jerusalem post, just did piece about government censorship specifically regarding "administrative detention" where most of it was blacked out because Israeli law says its illegal to report on their kidnapping and abuse of detainees without criminal charge or trial. This is the exception to crimes in Israeli prisons being exposed, not the rule.
They did criticize and specifically call out Hamas for taking hostages, in several statements. Hypocrisy would be ignoring this and giving the Israeli government a free pass.

I was disappointed not to see any representative of the Israeli government or military interviewed as part of this piece. I also didn't hear it said that any were invited and declined, so does that mean none were invited? We're told that Israel disputes these claims, so shouldn't we hear them tell their side of the story?

@@canitbethat As a former army officer, I have read the Geneva Convention. I am referring to the Geneva Convention and not to Israeli law, which I assure you I have not read. I doubt that Israeli law considers terrorist attacks not to be a crime, but it is a possibility that Israel loves to have its citizens killed by terrorists and therefore does not punish terrorists. Read the Israeli laws and confirm that terrorists are not subject to any article of the law. In that case, you will know whether Israel is violating its laws.
