Israeli Leaders Sharply Criticize Orthodox Spitting Incidents, Protests Against Christians

JERUSALEM, Israel - Israeli leaders and members of the public are sharply criticizing Orthodox Jewish extremists who were captured on video earlier this week spitting at Christian pilgrims in the Old City as they commemorated Sukkot or the Feast of Tabernacles.
Another group of Orthodox protesters gathered outside an International Christian Embassy (ICEJ) event Tuesday night where Israeli notables had been invited to speak.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement Tuesday indicating "zero tolerance toward any harm to worshipers." He said, "Israel is fully committed to safeguarding the sacred right of freedom of worship and pilgrimage to the holy sites of all faiths, and added that "we will take urgent steps against such actions."

I guess the Christians carrying the cross at the Via Dolorosa got a very authentic experience of what it was like for them to retrace the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ. I don't think they could get that kind of immersive experience anywhere else. I honestly think it just made the Bible a lot more relatable to them now that they've gone through that.

And today Christians from around the world are praying for Israel, due to certain recent events, while some within their country spit at our brethren. I felt the wrath of a Jewish woman years ago. I didn't know she was Jewish as I sat and watched her video and was thoroughly enjoying and agreeing with her words. I thought to myself, this lady could be a new friend. Then I got to the end of the video and sat in utter shock and disbelief. This lady started talking about Christians thinking they could use His name and do great things in a very mocking manner. As each minute passed she grew more angry, louder and harsh in her words, calling Christians and Jesus the anti-Christ. I had never before witnessed such passionate hatred and it floored me. I felt no urge to spare with her yet did feel a great sadness and sense of loss.

I have seen news documentaries over past year or in which it has started to emerge about the views of extreme Jewish people desecrating Christian graves in Israel. Spitting at Christians. Name calling. Stone throwing. I was very horrified. I wouldn't do such a thing...
