(I just forgot about them.) :-) I knew there are still Anatolian Greeks in Istanbul, and a lot of Pontic Greeks in Crimea (I guess formerly Ukraine, now Russia again? For now at least!) but I didn't realize there were so many Pontic Greeks in Turkey. I actually know a Georgian Jew from Turkey (in Israel), but never thought so much about a large Georgian ethnic minority in Turkey. Most Turkish Jews are descended from Sephardic Jews who came from Spain in the late 15th century--of course there were Romaniote Jews in Anatolia and Asia Minor for more than a thousand years before that who spoke Greek before that--the Georgian Jews were a separate group--in Georgia--but this guy, if I recall his story correctly, comes from a Georgian Jewish family that left Georgia when it was part of the USSR because Turkey was more free in those days than Soviet Georgia, later he came to Israel. But I never realized that there was a substantial Georgian minority in general in Turkey.
