IstanbulKart how to buy and top up?
In this video we show you where to buy the IstanbulKart and how to use it.
Istanbul has lots of transportation alternatives such as metro, ferry, tram, buses, etc but in order to use them we need to have this especial card which is called "Istanbulkart".
As well, we guide you on how to refill it easily at any yellow machines outside the metro, ferry or bus stations.
And as a special tip from us, that card cant be returned at some kiosks. Do you want to know how much money will be refund and how to do it? So stay tunned!

Bery Istanbul Tips update. I loved to turkey so much. I have decided to look if I can move there. We are looking for English school preferably British system. I looked into some but was not entirely satisfied. And some were too expensive. I am coming back again to look for school and see what the living cost are. Inshallah. If any viewers know of any international school that is affordable please let me know .

OMG Thank You! Even when I hit "English" there were no understandable instructions at all. An old lady had to do this for me the first time it was so embarrassing. PS> I loved the ferries they were so nice. I can just take them all day and float around the city.

I was surprised how many local don't speak English!!! I had trouble buying this card and asked one of the employee and she confidently babbled in turkish.... and latest charge was 50 lira for the card and 50 lira top up.... inflation has taken over!!

How do you register the IstanbulKart if you're a tourist? So confusing. I topped up the card and now I can't use it. Apparently I need to register it online, and it seems the process is completely in Turkish. Thanks for your help

So you put in a bill of 20 TL and the card was 6 TL. It just adds the remaining 14 TL to the card by default? or do you also have the option to get the change back? Again thank you for making these very helpful videos.

Machine doesn't give change, rest of the money becomes your credit on Istanbul card.

in the firs time you put there 20 liras ? did it give you back 14 liras or they stay inside ?

Machine doesn’t give any money back. Those 14 liras will be inside your card so you can use it for the transportation.

Hi! Before the pandemic 1 card could be used for up to 6 people but now, a special code is required which needs to be linked to the Istanbul card, that being said, each person now needs one card. turkeylocaltips.com/index.php/2020/12/03/what-is-hes-code/ Here you can find more about the HES code and how to get, once that’s done it needs to be linked to the IstanbulKart and then you can use it normally but one per person since the HES code is a personal code.

Hello, you cannot buy it with euros. You can change enough money like 10 euros to buy it at the airport (don’t change more because rates are bad) or you can buy it with credit card in the big istanbulkart machines at the airport.

The machine doesn’t give any change, when you put money inside, it charges the card amount and the rest stays inside the card.

Yes, you just need to download the app and register. When you put the direction it even gives approximate price. Its safe to use. Even you can use uber, yellow taxis will come and pick you up. They just dont have uber xl.

+Cecilia Servín buenos días! La IstanbulKart únicamente ea válida para el transporte público en Estambul. El monto a cargar a la tarjeta depende mucho de cuánto se utilice el transporte, por persona cobran 2.70 TL y una tarjeta se puede usar hasta para 6 personas. Para unos 4 días yo le pondría entre 40 a 50 TL dependiendo de cuántas personas la vayan a utilizar esa misma :)

In Istanbul people are very rude with tourists....i tried to buy an Istanbulcard, it was very difficult to get it, even the shop from the transport company didnt had it. For all other things, they are rude, i tried to be kind....but no way....never again to turkey

SYRI. net If i'm not mistsken, it will not expired. You can pass the turnstile few times according to your card balance. You only need to tap the card only during entrance. In other words, no matter how many station you pass by, you will pay the same price.

Hi Mick, istanbulkart is 25 TL at the moment. If you put 100 tl when you are purchasing İstanbulkart, your 75 TL will remain in the card so you can use it for the transportation. You do not need to do anything else. Once 75 lira finishes you need to top it up again.
