Piața Ovidiu din Constanța, numită după celebrul poet roman Ovidiu, are o istorie bogată și interesantă. În perioada romană, pe locul pieței se afla un important port comercial, denumit Portus Tomitanus. În secolele ulterioare, pe această locație s-au desfășurat diverse activități economice și sociale, iar piața a fost cunoscută sub diferite denumiri, precum Piața Vechiului Târg, Piața Mare sau Piața Unirii.
În anul 1887, piața a fost renovată și redenumită în cinstea lui Ovidiu, care a fost exilat în Constanța în perioada romană. Piața a fost amenajată cu un mic parc și cu o statuie a poetului, realizată de sculptorul Ettore Ferrari. În prezent, statuia lui Ovidiu se află în fața Muzeului de Istorie Națională și Arheologie din Constanța, iar piața găzduiește o serie de clădiri istorice, precum Palatul de Justiție sau Primăria Constanța.
Piața Ovidiu este una dintre cele mai importante zone turistice din Constanța, oferind o perspectivă fascinantă asupra istoriei și culturii acestui oraș. Aici se găsesc numeroase terase, cafenele și restaurante, precum și o serie de evenimente culturale și artistice, cum ar fi festivaluri, concerte și expoziții.

Ovidiu Square in Constanta, named after the famous Roman poet Ovidius, has a rich and interesting history. During the Roman period, an important commercial port named Portus Tomitanus was located on the site of the square. In the following centuries, various economic and social activities took place in this location, and the square was known under different names, such as Old Market Square, Great Square, or Union Square.
In 1887, the square was renovated and renamed in honor of Ovidius, who was exiled to Constanta during the Roman period.
