Really happy with the tailgate assist. But gee, the tray bolts were so tight. Broke 2 T40 torx bits and partially stripped one bolt. Eventually used an impact driver and big hammer to break the seal and remove the last bolt. Had already put dust seals in place so my tailgate mods are now finished. Have installed a few of Adam's other recommendations and am now contemplating the Lift Kit.
Took the plunge and bought and installed this product. Apart from one torque bolt that I needed a mechanics help with ( he'd never seen one so tight) the rest was a breeze thanks to Adams easy to follow tutorial. Very happy with the end result. Onwards to more upgrades....
@tholla he bashed a slot into it using a mash hammer and cold steel chisel . Then bashed it anti clockwise and it came loose. Massive drama but the other 3 came out with a torque wrench no bother at all

My HR sedan had a torsion bar to assist opening the boot. The torsion bar was the only thing that still worked properly when the car finally decomposed into a pile of rust.

Perhaps upgrading all the lights that arn't LED to LED. Nice and simple, but something that Isuzu should have done from the start. Upgrading the reversing lights with some decent LED's to light the way.

I am looking into the possibility of mounting the second battery under the tub, current car has it on the wheel arch, but now with lithium recon be so much nicer out of sight

And then i am gonna give this car an Ceramic Ultra pack of Ditec, for the paint job, then run over a couple horny sheeps, so i get the stuff called lanolin in norway. also called anti rust 😁
Nice and definitely will be getting this. Would have liked to see how hard it was to remove the nuts with the torx bit rather than skip over it. I wouldn't mind you doing a video on a dust seal for the tailgate. Also not everyone has Instagram.

I've got a torsion bar on my ranger and it definitely doesn't open as nice as this. I just installed a down assist strut. I installed the up but it was too strong with the torsion bar and the tailgate wouldn't stay down. I've removed it but I will try again once I install the tailgate storage mod
Your instructions were impeccable but couldn't avert the over-torquing of one of the screws at factory. Ended up having to drill and 'easy out' it and replace it 😞

No real need I wouldn't think, there's drain holes below but if concerned I'd get some of those little rubber blanking seals from the big green shed ✌️
G'day Adam, check your mounting plates for the struts. My first set bent and the second set have done the same. Great struts but the stamped mild steel plates aren't up to the job.. 🤔
@@VideoShowMeHow yep, they sent me another pair of plates but they've bent as well. Not as bad as the first ones and they're still functional. The right hand bracket on the first set bent so badly that the piston end came off the ball on the plate and couldn't be re-attached. Still love the improvement in tailgate use though.
Hey mate finally got the barsted out by drilling centre out with 2mm drill bit heated bit up hoping it would melt the locktight got the dremal with cutting disc cut a slot used a large flat head in my impact driver and victory. Also fitted auto mirrors and Windows definitely easier following your u-tube thanks . Now is a catch can worth fitting
Oh nice great news! What a pita but glad you were victorious. I'm a catch can convert that's for sure, ran one in the crd jeep and was always amazed at what I drained each service. You can see in the vid I just uploaded the is already oil residue on the intake pipe. If you do end up grabbing one check out the discount code in the vid to save some bucks
Hi Adam, For the life of me I can't undo the Torx screws on the hinges. I have tried everything including a Rattle Gun. Any ideas would be appreciated. Love your channel!
Have read through the comments of this vid, has been a few tips as some have been in the same boat. I must have got lucky with mine! I'd suggest 1) running a razor blade around the bolt head to break the paint seal if there is one 2) use a good quality (eg week fitting torx bit 3) give the bit a couple of sharp hits with a hammer before trying

Hi again, Took delivery today of my Dmax and love it after just 50 kilometres. Just wondering the best place to buy the HSP products? I was looking at the tail assist and the central locking kit, but they don't see to have an online shop?
I received my kit today and I got the TA-10LH bracket but not the right side. On the Parts sheet there is no mention of the Right hand side. I am just a bit confused if I am missing the right side bracket?? Any advice would be great before I contact the company.
I'm curious, any advantage to adding the black cable things rather than just leaving the existing metal hinge arms on? I've seen a few people complain about the cables not going in properly

Pretty solid, tailgate is pretty heavy with the storage unit and recovery gear, swapped them out to try some grunt ones after they started getting a bit tired after 2 years

Ah bummer :( Is tricky, could try a larger star bit, could grind a slot (basically making a Phillips head), has been some other comments on the vid with other people's solves too
We just ordered an XT and while we wait the 6-12 months for our XT, and already have mods list 😅. Nice install Adam, I know you need to take out those little rubber grommets or tailgate stoppers, does it affect it in anyway with closing and still feel solid etc?

Mine came straight out sorry to say, seems to be hit and miss some appear to be have been tightned by Thor himself. Check the comments there's been lots of useful suggestions for tight ones
Little hands help, I got it in first go the first time and the second it was an absolute PITA.. I found it easiest if you kind of get the top bit in then press it in as you work around
Hey mate just wondering if you might have any ideas on how I can remove the torx bolts 3 undone but on the 4th the torx bit has messed up the inside of the bolt seems to be really tight. Now the torx bit just won't grab . Really don't want to get the cutting disc out and cut bolt in a shape that a socket can go on .
Hey, yes seems to be a few people with this issue. I must have got lucky. Best advice would be to really push the bit into the bolt as hard as you can before cranking. Use an extension bar if needed. Another thing you could try is seeing if there is a paint seal on the bolt, if so run a sharp Stanley knife around the head of the bolt to break any seal
Thanks for answering my question I have hit the torx bit with a hammer seemed like it was in good but spins it is stripped at worst I can put it back to standard but really wanted to fit this
@@beccummins7930 Ah it's stripped? Hmm are you handy with a grinder? Sounds extreme but if you are I would carefully cut a groove in the bolt head turning it into a flat head bolt. Unfortunately if it's stripped options get a little limited :( Hope you get sorted ok
Any issues long term with this mate? I have another brand one on mine and it broke the tailgate locking mechanism because it put too much pressure on the tailgate.
@@VideoShowMeHow The latch on the locking mechanism under the handle. The gas parts of the struts were rubbing against part of the tailgate, causing the latch to not connect on the passenger side properly. I've since taken out the passenger side 'easy up' and left the down gas strut only, with a washer to space it out more so it doesn't rub. What is the diameter of the gas strut part on these HSP ones?
So just on a year now and my lift assist strut has completely failed and the ball end on the open assist strut has cracked completely through. Not impressed.

Wow really?? Dang.. I found its the paint over the bolt. I would suggest getting a sharp stanley knife and run it around the bolt head to try and break the paint if that makes sense? Then solid sprays of penetrate. This used to be to same issue with the Jeep JK door bolts :(

I bought this attempted to install but my star screws on the hinges were so tight I couldn't loosen them without stripping the screw which did happen. :(
Yeah has been an issue with a few people it seems, Isuzu seem to sometimes do up to eleventy! There was a gent in the comments who got his out using a hammer I believe? Will see if I can link him
