Comes very close to what I have in mind - Fuso earth cruiser on steroids. Would love to see the cabine sliding out to both sides, 3D expansion, so to speak. That would be my dream: 4x4, small boxed to be able being shipped in small sea container, cevlar secured and windowless cabine in boxed state while on the move, expandable space to have agreable luxury while camping anywhere.

This is still the best project I have seen. The only thing is that I wish it was dual control for driving in different countries.

Hello. Nice build, glad to see your getting so much out of it. I’m working on converting a box truck into an RV and I’d like to weld my own tanks like you did. Can you share the grade and dimensions of the stock aluminum that you used? Thanks! Ryan

Not sure if comments are still active but can you tell me the band of windows you used? Slide top campers don’t allow protruding blinds on the upper sliding box as it has to slide over the lower section. These windows seems to be slim enough to fit within the +/-35mm wall thickness. I would really appreciate help finding the supplier! Great build! Thanks
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 4 года назад
Hi thanks for your enquire, yes the windows stick out past the wall frames approximately 12mm I’ll get the make and model to you in the next few days, any other information you need please feel to ask.

@@skippyexpress574 Thanks a mil! really appreciate the help. If it sits proud by 12mm, what's the clearance gap that you've allowed between top & bottom panels where the slide over each other?
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 4 года назад
De Wet Groenewald the window make is Dometic, the gap between top sliding roof and the sides is 20mm, I would advise a bigger gap if you can, 20mm is a little tight, if you have any problem with the actuators
@dewetgroenewald9550
@dewetgroenewald9550 4 года назад
@@skippyexpress574 I have been looking for a while to find a slim profile window blind that can work in this sliding roof configuration. I have looked at Dometic's range before and can't seem to find one that is as small as this. I'm starting to think they changed the design and no longer make these low profile models.

De Wet Groenewald you may have to think out side the square, and make your own, if you can’t find what you want.good luck,

What actuators did you use? Love the concept to reduce the height and then raise it when you are at your location.
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 7 лет назад
Doug Burch Hi Doug, the actuators are made by Linak, they are a company in Denmark, (not cheep) cheers Des

Thanks Skippy. Love your camper truck. Hope to design something like it myself. Any real problems in the fabrication for you?
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 7 лет назад
Doug Burch weight is a major fracture it's easy to go over. Make friends with a caravan builder who is prepared to give you advice when you need it I made a deal with one here, where I bought all my gear ie fridge, cook top, etc in return he would give me advice when I needed it, he also told me where to source stuff from, that saved me lots of time.

Hi Des We are busy with a similiar build, but we are concerned about mould forming between the inner and outer box. Have you encountered any mould issues during any serious rain storms ? Kind regards Roman

hi was it hard to get the visas to drive through all those countries or did you apply at the border crossings love to hear from you.
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 6 лет назад
sc 1066 as long as you have a carnet for your vehicle you you can get some visas at the borders some countries like Russia and China you have to apply from your home country first, it’s a matter of planning your route first then asking each consulate what they require it’s a bit of red tape but fun,
@sc-yu1um
@sc-yu1um 6 лет назад
thanks i have never heard of a carnet,did you have to hire a driver to pass through china or did you drive yourself sorry for the questions but i do not know anyone who has taken there vehicle to these countries to talk to, what an amazing journey, also was it hard to clear customs in malaysia?
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 6 лет назад
sc 1066 you need a guide with you when in China, it’s really handy, if you can find other people doing the same drive you can share the cost of the guide which is not cheep, Customs no problems

OK...very nice concept....but a disjointed chaotic video. Do you have a comprehensive systematic overview of details, systems and/or layout? In other words...anything more constructive than a haphazard slideshow collection of pictures exhibiting no rhyme nor reason that might aid one in replicating or incorporating elements into one's design?

Oh thank you! actually i have a similar idea based on the fuso canter light duty truck (AWD). however i have a few things i need to figure out (seems like you guys sorted it out here) (1)May i know the total vehicle mass? the total length and body width+height (with the top lifted up). (2) What tires are those ? - i have been checking the tires rating (mass per axle/tire) ideally would be some of those 11R17.5 for my build (3) at 0:13 ~ 2:00++ What are the material you use for the body frame? any specific alloy code? - my plan was aluminium tube/box frame with fiber glass shell to cut weight down. (4) 0:25 would appreciate if you could share some info about those suspension build if you already have a webpage have these info i'd love to see ! thanks !

@skippyexpress574 6 лет назад
Hi the truck weight is 6500gvm the length is 6500mm the width is2130mm the height when down is 2480 when up its 3180mm. The suspension came as a kit from All Terrine Warriors, a company from Queensland Australia check out there web site, I built the camper to fit into a shipping container then sent it to Malaysia. Drove it through Thailand, Cambodia, Burma, Laos, China, Mongolia, Russia, Europe, Africa, it was my first build, the truck went well, the build was fun to do, I could have changed a few things over all most things worked well, Hopes this helps 😜
@pec1739
@pec1739 6 лет назад
omg thank you so much for the info, do you have the tire size? are those frame materials aluminium ?
@skippyexpress574
@skippyexpress574 6 лет назад
pec1739 yes the frame is 32mmx32mmx3mm aluminium tig welded, The linings are a product called Aluco bond, it’s thin aluminium with a neoapreen interlay it’s fixed to the frame work with double sided sticky tape and glue, tires and rims came from ATW check there web site for more info 😜
