Just want you to know that in September, 2015, my wife came out of what was supposed to be a routine surgery, and we were told she had a rare firm of ovarian cancer with a not-so-good prognosis. Five days later we came home from the hospital. She was on the phone and I went into our bedroom, laid on the bed and started crying and begging God for help. I got my phone, went youtube and said, "play me a healing song." At that time I had not heard of Jesus Culture or you. Immediately, "Healing Oil" started playing by some gal named Kim-Walker Smith. I played it over and over, and soon my wife came into the room and saw me crying while listening to you. She laid beside me and tears came down her cheeks as we both worshiped the Lord together. Fast forward eight years to the day of her diagnosis, September 29th, 2023, she left this life and ran into the arms of Jesus. I was playing your "Healing Oil" on my Ipod to her often on her hospice journey. Now your song continues to bring me comfort and makes me praise Jesus for His loving care over the past eight years. Amen! Last year around this time the Lord gave me a dream. My friend was peaking into a worn bible and she told me ' you're trying to put God in a box '. Fast fwd to just this past week and the Lord gave the interpretation. I have to remind myself DAILY that he is the God of miracles and is ABLE! His ability is not based on my inability or even my ability. He is God and I trust Him. I am so looking forward to hearing this song. Praying it brings more revelation to the whispers of God.
Thank you for sharing your heart Kim. Like you said, God has greater plans for us. My husband and I also felt called out of the suburbs to a small rural town. I grew up in NYC! I had to leave my first and only church and I felt heartbroken. I felt lost in my new life. But after that wilderness season, I found my current church just 20 minutes away and I’m experiencing unbelievable growth there. It’s not a big church but it’s truly spirit filled and I have the privilege of serving there. But first, I had to take that risk and do something scary and seemingly irrational.

Exactly..I am sitting here listening and saying Yes, Yes, Yes. Since 2016 God has brought me into a place where I am totally dependent on Him....I love being in this place. I love how my relationship with my Father and with Jesus is growing and I am drawing closer and closer to Him everyday. I wouldn't want it any other way!! Thank You for sharing....It's nice to hear someone saying things that I can totally relate too and get confirmation!!! God is even speaking to me in ways He has never done before. I love being His daughter..and Jesus...He is truly my LORD...Over every aspect of my life. I love Him so much!!!
This is exactly what happened to my husband and I a few months ago! We are in a new state, new church, new everything and if you were to ask us just 4months ago, I would have said no way is that happening. Back home, we were comfortable, stagnant and as much as we tried to get rooted in our church, ministries we were involved with, in our city, it was not happening- things would be removed it was so weird. And now we see why- He wanted to take us out of the space we were so comfortable in. Now we are alert and aware of our reliance on Him and like you, we are trying to keep ourselves focused on Him and not go back to old patterns. So crazy how similar your testimony is! God is waking up His Bride!
I pray you read this and it's not just another testimony. ❤I want to THANK YOU, Kim, just for being who God created you to be. What a privilege it's been to enjoy your music for so long these last 14 years and continue to be crowned with more ability to receive His LOVE for me through your music.❤ 2010 in college I gave up my ex-fiance so I could GO DEEP with Daddy God and really know and follow Him. He just took me so deep and intimate with Him, there were so many, many, many times I would stay up ALL NIGHT listening to all your music on repeat. Sometimes it was the same song on repeat that would wash over me for what felt like endless hours, honestly 8 to 10 to 12 hrs on repeat, the same exact song....and I would just cry with healing and cry with LOVE for Jesus and cry in prayer on the floor in the computer room, my dormroom, someone's house, church, just everywhere. I am so happy to have watched you and seen your personality and your genuininess in your walk, and I don't think there are words to describe how lovely and beautiful you are. You are just SO PRECIOUS, I can feel that inside me from Jesus, OH MY GOODNESS.
In a word from the Lord a sister in Christ recently shared, the Lord said "I am the God of the open door and the closed door. I am the door." Also just wanted to say several of your songs, specifically "Love has a name" and "Not Afraid" are among my all time favorites, they're definitely part of my fight song playlist and "Boxes" sounds amazing too. Oh man I can't wait!! ‼️😆‼️We have been replaying both of your, Wild Heart & On my Side, albums in our home! Especially after I walked through Deliverance and inner healing, those albums have been so powerful to me! You have been a huge part of my walk with the Lord since I was 18 years old and pregnant (I'm 36 now). Lol but I actually had Rick Pino prophesy over my daughter in the womb when I was 4 months pregnant and didn't even know it was a girl yet! He told me she was going to be a great worship leader and use her voice for the Lord! That was 17 years ago and you have also been a huge part of her journey with the Lord! It was a true blessing getting to see you in person at the, Power and Love conference in Fort Worth with Todd White last year! You actually had prayed over my girls standing in the front in the middle of the worship set. 😭🥹♥️ It felt so surreal because all these years we've listened to your music, watched you on RU-vid, and even bought your book on Audible. You have been a huge spiritual influence in our lives. 🙏🏼♥️

Love this update and so excited for you. Cannot wait to hear Boxes! Homeschool mama and worshiper here too (in Tampa, FL). I get that I remind people of you often....it's quite the compliment. Not only because of your voice and range but because of your beautiful spirit. I sang Spirit Break Out the other day at a tent revival and at the end of our 2 hour set felt delivered from some of my own boxes: irritability, ingratitude, complacency. I'm out of the boxes and able to feel His presence and love to overflowing again.

Oh wow! Thank you for sharing, this is so encouraging to me. I have felt the same way these past 6 months as I've come to realise I was becoming way too 'comfortable' in my work space. Over the Christmas break I found myself sincerely asking God "who am I becoming"... Little did I know He had a bigger plan and I am now no longer at the same job. I have begun to 'learn to fly again' as with God's direction I chose to jump out of that comfortable nest (box) and 'yield' to the Holy Spirit's promptings - what a ride. Honestly it's been a little scary, however it's also been the best thing I've done, as I now rely on God 100% and not my own strength and abilities. Blessings. It’s so true what you said about wanting to stay in your comfort box, I’ve been fighting the same thing for a long time. It’s hard to trust sometimes when it comes to something that’s new to us because we can’t predict the outcome and it reminds me of Elijah and how he was having a hard time with what GOD wanted him to do. My wife and I are huge fans of your work and I’m glad you have the boldness to step out and do GODS will. As for me, I hope that I can one day overcome as you have and with the same boldness step out as I know we are all called to do. In a dream I was you and I was traveling n I was a worshipper , God gave me dreams also to move to Texas , yes totally new n been u comfortable here but I’ve seen some lives changed n my own too , I believe God will do more for you as you stay obedient he’s far from through with you, blessings

Hey! I love the biblical concept behind your "Voice in the Wilderness" season. I also love how in John chapter 1, John the Baptist stated that "I am not the Christ" (verse 20). In fact, John the Baptist's primary concern was to not point others to himself, but to simply point others to The Lamb of God, Jesus (verse 36)....."The two disciples heard (Jesus) speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them..."What do you seek?" They said to (Jesus), "Rabbi...where are You staying?" (Jesus) said to them, "Come and see..." (verse 39).....Continue yielding, and being that Voice in the Wilderness, Kim!
