I think it was a mechanic that once taught me that double-checking your work once everything is assembled is always a little scary, but in case something was amiss, it's a lot better you find it than the customer. You have yourself a good day too, Ray, thanks for having us along for the ride!

Nothing like getting your car back, finding something they broke or didn't fix that they were supposed to, then having them say "not our responsibility". TF it isn't!

Lordy my back and neck hurts just watching all this. I'm a 6'4", 240lb, 64 year old former mechanic and I freaking ALWAYS hated doing interior and underdash work. I've had 4 back surgeries since 1990, different disc each time, and I can't even imagine trying to do what you're doing. Kudos for a great job, and your tenacity and perseverance. Take care of that back brother!!

Same. I had to quit fixing cars after a back surgery.

@@mindpilot72 It sucks for true Gearheads who love working on cars as a hobby. My midlife crisis 96 LT1 Firebird WS.6 has been up in the air in my garage for 2 months needing a throwout bearing all because my POS back decided to pull it's shit and shows no indication of just being a backache. Looks like the party's over and she'll be up for sale or trade soon. The last 55 years was fun while it lasted. Kids are grown and wife passed away 7 years ago so at least my back held together long enough to work and support my family. On to the next challenge. Whatever it is it'll involve spinning a wrench! Even if it's just old guy lawnmower repair. :D

Yep, I feel for you, know how that feels.... And knees... Bent down today to tighten the Meriva steering column spline, omg so much pain. Had to put matting on the floor. For the younger mechanics, please wear knee protection, ear protection that musicians use because no one warns you how you will suffer because of the job

@@gregoryking9348 try this, get some Epsom salts, run a hot bath and use roughly a cup full in the bath... Also I use ibruprofien to reduce the swelling. Use the salts, then the ibruprofien before bed and make sure you have the right mattress... If its older than three years, chuck it away. Also swimming in a heated pool helps... Just a pity the US medical system is so corrupt that you suffer. Get some holiday insurance and go to Cape Town there is a brilliant thoracic specialist there who can help

Exceptional job in diagnosing the problem and resolving it, even if it take quite a bit of time. Seems the supply chains problems seem to be getting worse everywhere. But glad to see that, after a month, you could get that entire interior back together. Fantastic work, as always!

I was an industrial engineer for Boeing for eighteen short, but interesting years. For the last five of those years, I was assigned the task of minimizing the occurrence of repetitive-motion injuries, mainly carpal tunnel and DeQuervain's tenosynovitis. It rapidly became apparent, that "thumb-heel and palm hammering" did far more damage that originally thought. We developed a series of 'dead blow hammering devices', which actually made the installation of flexible 'surround' materials onto surfaces requiring non-permanent sealing somewhat faster, and actually did reduce injuries by more than 30 percent.

not euro trash, any car with a sunroof has these issues, it is a working motorized tracked part, of course it’s prone to failure. jaguars during ford ownership are great cars, very reliable.

Ray, you are definitely a cut a bove other mechanics. When I first saw this sunroof leak issue not being fixed when you first replaced the outer seal, I thought for sure you would not continue looking for answers. Staying with a vehicle until it is fully repaired is something most techs these days just do not do. 'Five Stars'

I recall a similar model XJseries with the same issue. The owner sprung the bucks & had it customized into cut down mini pickup truck or 'ute' & the sunroof leak issue was resolved by welding in a curve formed sheet steel panel. The setup became a carpenter's hack & really earned its keep!

The one thing that struck me with this repair is that you had the courage to track your challenges and failures along with your successes and post them for everyone to see. With all of those challenges, you weren't going to know if you were successful until very near the end of the job, yet you pushed on through and shared it for all to see. A lesser mechanic/technician may have just refused the job from the beginning. Wonderful job and a great video series.
