I believe Zach is a genuine dude. He quit rage around 2000. He didn't want to continue. He easily could of cashed in for decades. The guys lyrics are way to truthful. He didn't sell out, he was on a independent label. Being on a major label allowed them to promote there message to a much larger audience.. Take the message guys, leave the messenger. We can't touch this guy or his band in a million years. An people are dissing cuz he lives in a big house an was on a major record label. That doesn't mean his message is any less important.

Tom Morello is a diva though. Zack I’m cool with because he literally places lyrical intelligence and actual issues that he saw first hand. Most if not all lyrics he wrote was personal and thought provoking. Even as a right wing voter I appreciate Rage for doing research in lyricism.

@@circlemagazine he expected a coffee shop to give him first line accommodation as if his rock stardom was gonna get him to cut to the front. Plus he’s a talker, which is ironic since Zach is the one with the voice in the band. The only non diva thing he did was have a sit down with Ted Nugent even though they both had different view points, so fine I humbly take back the diva comment, I just think he’s annoying for certain reasons. But hey man don’t try to infiltrate my mind to seek reasons why I would call him an insult or a name of some sort. I feel the way I feel and if I meet him one day I may change my views but until then I’m just a typical hater. You feel differently about him, you’re a fan, awesome stay that way and don’t let anyone try to change your viewpoints so don’t try to change mine

This is a terrible lyric. It's the writer referencing himself smiling, happy to be ignorant. Expecting the reader or listener to search for other implied meaning in this case is unrealistic. If you read it for what it says it's just admitting willful ignorance with no context to anything else. I've heard self depreciating lyrics before but this one makes the least sense. "Read my writing on the wall, Noone will catch me when I fall. If ignorance is bliss then wipe this smile off my face." He wrote on a wall that he himself is ignorant but I don't interpret Zach as ignorant. I get it, he's mad, but why is he taking it out on himself? He can't stop smiling because he is blissful to be ignorant. Is he smiling because he's not ignorant? If he's blissful to not be ignorant then why is he asking to have the smile wiped off? Because ignorance is not laughing matter? Is he smiling because he is or is not ignorant? Weather he's ignorant or not why is he always smiling and why does he perceive it as a problem? He doesn't want to be happy to not be ignorant. Maybe he laughs at inappropriate things Like joker. This is just a terrible lyric

I would have to ask him to define what he means by a revolutionary act. History proves that one of the most common result of revolution is a high death toll, which just doesn't seem very loving to me. Case and point being any of the socialist/communist revolutions of the 20th century, namely Eastern European and Asian.. estimates of 100 million deaths, and that's on the low side.

Plenty of deaths have occurred at the hands of a ruling class in charge of keeping an extortion racket running via the abuse and exploitation of the poor lower class, all to keep an evil empire from collapse. A complete monopoly on violence and force, sold to the masses as a promise of safety and protection from a false, manufactured and illegitimate threat. Meanwhile, the only real threat citizens face is that of incarceration in the world's largest prison industry, with the majority being operated as private business, with the intent to exploit and extort the slaves of which it holds subjective to the constant stream of nonstop force-fed propaganda (openly admitted by director of the "see eye hey" in the late 1970's during the Frank Church Committee). Point made when militarized Policy Enforcers incarcerate citizens for merely violating the *policys* of unknown "representatives" who have NO claim or stake in the lives of those they ruin while claiming to represent. I´m 56 yrs. old, and I never knew of RATM until 5 or 6 years ago. I cannot explain to myself how I could´ve missed them for so long, especially during my teen years. Ever since I found them, their music and message has been an added inspiration in my ongoing rant against the System, specifically the religious matrix of delusion, cowardice and comfort that ignores the real problems of this planet and trades them for a life lived in a bubble of isolation. I recently wrote and self-publisehed a book ("The Religious Matrix: Perceptions, Prejudices, Myths & Realities about Religion") dealing precisely on these matters, and I included a link to the song "Wake Up" in it. Sort of a theme song for my book.

Math check: 56-6 = 50 when you first heard about them. 2018. 50-31 = 19 years old (1987, tail end of your teen years) 1992 their first album came out. 1992 - 1987 = 5 year gap 19y/o + 5 year gap = you were 24 when their first album came out, not in your teen years. there may be some albums i'm missing, but sounds like your math might be wrong. i acknowledge the intensity of the "well, actually" vibes i'm giving off... that doesn't mean i don't also acknowledge the support you've developed for RATM 👏. it does seem weird that you also plugged your book, though 🤔

I’ll never forget seeing them play during the teacher strike in 2019. Feeling support from this band felt great! Teachers really appreciate any support they can get. Trying to make a positive difference can be a challenge.

While I value the general concept of educators, and even have a couple in my own family, they are doing an horrible job at actually educating students. The proficiency numbers prove it. From my observations, the root really boils down to the standardized curriculum. The majority of educators are fairly ignorant and oblivious to most things that aren't part of the govt issued curriculum. The ones who are avid learners and generally wise can't teach what they know because of the standardized curriculum. And that's not even delving into the trend of educators pushing their own ideology on their students.

Anger is used to manipulate people into doing the bidding of evil. If you don't let your emotions control you, you'll be able to discern the difference between good and evil. Pain is not an emotion. We physically feel things to ensure we try to stay healthy. Similar to foods you may be allergic to, the smell of them you may find repulsive, that's to ensure you don't eat them and become sick, and/ or possibly die. Emotions are supposed to be overcome, not used.

I'm happy I had idols like this man growing up. It's a shame that a lot of us outside the US can understand and see what's happening and decide no to be part of its society. It's so hard to watch a country that needs help, but doesn't have enough people in it to care or stand up to it all. There's just too much hate and divides between people within it. We Māori are struggling to get our own country back from the broken systems that were put in place here by the colonizer. We progress slowly but we're still moving forward and our aim is at Co-Governance for now but ultimately we will have control of our own country. If you're still reading... I'm not sure who needs to hear this, but FIGHT ON and FIGHT HARD. Your future is earned, not given. RATM's relevance will always be.

Yes!! The education system. Everybody wants the education system for themselves (both parties/'spiritual movements') I think it's time we turn education into an inclusive, and very hands-on experience. It wasn't until college, a special field that's very "in lab" focused, was I able to truly absorb everything and get straight "A's" (*in one semester). Also, high school shop classes, home-ec, once in grade 10 math (thanks awesome teachers everywhere!).
