The fact that homelander in the comics is shown photos of crimes he never committed and somehow manages to convince he did those crimes despite never even remembering them at all proves that, that would absolutely trick Homelander. He would easily fall for something as simple as a deepfake.

The problem with that is that homelander has 2 competing desires, one is to be loved and the other is violence. If you take him being loved by the people away he’ll just become a tyrant to be feared, rather then commit suicide.
So the best bet is to actually appeal to that side of him (the side that wants to be loved) and attempt to turn him into a real hero, I'm not sure Batman could do it, but Superman might be able too.

If he kills Batman, the damage will be irreparable and damage both Homelander's Reputation and the Companies backing him. And this ain't Batman's first fight against someone like Homelander, while he doesn't have a weakness. Batman does have is experience. Homelander is unable to fight back much against trained and skilled fighters. His Laser Vision can be used against him. And a strong enough syringe or dart can still pierce him.

Keep in mind Batman isn't the only one with money in this situation - Homelander is the poster boy of Vought, and they'll cover up all his mistakes. They likely have just as much in revenue as WayneTech; a smear campaign against Homelander would be taken as a smear campaign against them as well. Any situation where he DOESN'T have Vought's backing, means he's already gone berserk and is public enemy #1. In which case, psychological attacks won't work as well, as he's already in the midst of going crazy and burning down the nation.
