On thing I would add, the whole United States is struggling to put food on their table, gas in their cars, heat in their homes, many have no homes to live in because the economy is so bad. It’s a fight just to earn a living! But yet here are Americans all over the United States sending help, sharing what ever they can, some even trying to show up to help…this is the America I grew up in…I pray we will always be this gracious to help our neighbors! As a Floridian with a hurricane barreling towards me, I'm more concerned with those folks still suffering from Helene. I know Florida can handle it, and those folks in the mountains can't so they have my prayers, and as many funds as I can spare. 🇺🇸

Just FYI, as someone has worked in post disaster zones myself, I can tell you that recovery does not take days …. or weeks. It takes months and years. Whatever you do don’t forget about those impacted by Helene. With Milton now on its way to Florida attention will shift. (Hopefully everyone in the most vulnerable areas in Florida get out of harms way ASAP.) What these gentlemen are saying is absolutely correct: if people are turning up as volunteers they need to be as self sufficient as possible and not be a burden on those and the resources already there.

1. Get a tally of how many people need blankets, and winter coats for the winter. 2. Get a tally of how many homes need wood burning stoves. (Then put a call out for welders to make the 55 gal steel drums wood burning stoves). Plus ask for empty 55 gallon drums food grade and clean for water, and steel for the wood stoves. 3. Put a call out for people with firewood cutting machines to bring their machines for a couple of days.

Day 8 from a victim. Over 1000 bodies have been recovered. They have no way to cremate, embalm, or refrigerate them. Vultures everywhere. Is anyone talking about that? That comes from someone who works at two funeral homes. What help are they getting? People are coming out of the woods covered in mud and haven't eaten for six days. What are yall doing to help with that? He says it looks apocalyptic. If they can walk out out, someone could surely walk in. Pray for strength and guidance. It isn't over yet for sure.

Im getting blankets and winter clothing, boots and coats of all sizes together now as well as clothes and toys for the animals. I dont have funds to send but will gladly share what i do have. Just donated wash cloths, towels, soap and tp as well as can food for both humans and animals. God bless all of you!! Prayers and hugs

Please let these families know to please call their mortgage company and they should have about 6 months to 12 months to put a hold on payments. That would just add additional months on the back of the mortgage. This might give them a little relief. BUT..... Please write down who they speak with, name, date time and please have a folder of all the emails, mail any documents on their mortgage. Cover their tails . God bless everyone. My prayers are with everyone!! Exactly any loans that they have they can do the same and I do believe that most companies will help. It doesn't hurt to ask. I am raising my 11 month old disabled granddaughter. She is on Oxygen, suction, Gtube, pulse oxygen monitor. I sat here and cried thinking about anyone that is disabled and the stress on their family. I have a hard time everyday taking care of her. I am praying that there aren't any families out there like this. item's also needed, Boudreaux's butt paste or Vaseline , infant and children Tylenol, ibuprofen, teething medicine. Ways to feed babies with g buttons, new ports for the g button. Oxygen tanks, nasal cansler, breathing treatments. So many things.... Where are the Tide trucks? I know after the flood of 2016 in Louisiana they came here. I realize we only flooded here and towns are gone in north Carolina. Prayers, prayers prayers for everyone! I know here in Louisiana our local and state homeland security office coordinates and has a plan for disasters, Where are the leaders of state and local homeland security for NC? Where is the leadership. I want to thank the American people for helping other Americans that are strangers in a time of need. This country is not divided.... The media says we are.

During the depression, my grandpa worked for the CCC, and the TVA and Army Corps of Engineers was also started. It gave regular working class men the opportunity to learn engineering and construction while getting paid. I think that would be a better solution for folks than the useless bureaucratic agencies who waste our tax dollars.

No need to panic about a situation that was above our control... what we need to do is stop and collect ourselves emotionally and work together as a strong community and prioritize what needs to be done!!! Random people swarming in to help, is gonna get overwhelming both emotionally and physically! None of us are ready to work and get things cleaned up at the pace people coming in to help!!! We are drained... we are drained emotionally and physically. Its 82 degrees average these past days after the storm and the humidity and sun has been absolutely horrid!

Flood insurance is not a rider. NFIP is a separate policy. FEMA has the power to issue policies retroactively and cover these loses. Get on their list. Get told you need a letter from your homeowners policy saying no coverage. Then FEMA can proceed. Keep in mind it will take months at best. Along with FEMA playing ball so to speak. Most lenders will have a program to allow payments to be delayed in extreme cases. Call them.

People don’t realize that so many still have to pay their mortgage payment on a house that is no longer there. Insurance won’t cover a lot since these people couldn’t afford the extra $500 plus a month on flood insurance

Hopefully people start thinking about getting voting set up in the community center and church's where the food and supplies are being held for distribution. It's a hard thing to be thinking about right now but these people are being ignored and the only way to get DC's attention is vote them out.

I wanted to send sleeping bags, cots, pillows and blankets but where is amazon delivering to? This is more than devastating and heartbreaking. I feel for the disabled, elderly, and children especially. I did donate two wheelchairs (to a local group driving up that asked specifically for them) we had as my daughter has cerebral palsy and outgrew them. Also some 15 yr storable food canisters. I love my hills and have known so many of the backroads for years passed. Please know we are praying constantly and love you all. We all have ptsd to some degree from what has been done to us over these last years on such a scale (I digress) but theirs may be off the charts. I will be donating to your group and Samaritans Purse for certain. Any others you recommend I will throw in cash there as well. That is what the National Guard is for- they do need locals to know terrain and area. All groups need to coordinate through the designated leaders for emergency County or District. Yes the damage looks bad, very bad. Volunteer groups are great but you have got to coordinate with leadership or the strength of many becomes the unorganized coverage of areas. Work together- digest that.

We had a tornado in 96 in Ft Smith Ar, the first week-was assessment the next 5 weeks was A holes and elbows to work on the situation and then the next 6 months were trying to recover from the destruction. What I have seen here is 2-6 year recovery if nothing else happens!

I wish someone could find a large area for trailers to be set up than a drive for people that have small travel trailers for people to stay in til they can figure out there lives we have one not paid for but still would give it and still make the payments

Thank you for all you're doing. As a survivor of a devastating wildfire in northern Alberta in 2016, you are so right. The needs are far from over, but donations (goods, food, and manpower) need to be spaced out. Everyone who has survived is still in shock, dealing with everyday survival and having to figure out how to get documentation needed to get help from insurance, humanitarian organizations or govt (hahaha). Praying for y'all and everyone that was in Helene's path.

You guys are doing a great job stay strong stand strong, vote and make sure your arms are safe. Theres no words to describe the admiration of what yas are all going through to fight the forces of evil. No one shpuld have tp go through these situations.

Those big timber trees along the road can be manufactured into building materials quickly if someone can organize some skilled workers to drive a moving workshop to do it. Hope Musk can provide those families the Telsa boxing house, and give them discount with interest free long term payment.
