this video illustrates why things like pokemon in the real world would be dangerous, spinning metal blades on chains are one thing, lighting them on fire is another. it's like what would happen if fighting types, learned fire moves like fire spin and ember.

A great end for quite an amazing season. Being tied (chained) to a flaming object is always something to be done with all care and precautions (or is it not to be done at all?). You always make quite impressive moves with these fantasy weapons but this one was quite the sugar on the cream. Congratulations to you and all your team for these videos. . So what your saying is... "In order to use to, you need magic." But one by itself make a functioning weapon. It was cool to see a revisit with metal. And as I pointed out in the first video. The mass of a moving object is not easily blocked, and if it is deflected the chain can be used to wrap around your target. (if you have the skill and reflexes to do it.)

You dont have to swing them with the chains Kratos in lore actually doesnt use the chains that much he just slashes with the blades in his hands he only uses the chains if hes outnumbered, trying to keep his distance, or to reach someone thats far away

The chain also solved one of the issues that they had when testing fire swords. Fire is hot, and holding a flaming blade is difficult on the hands. The chain means that it's not constantly burning you. Unfortunately there's still more downsides than positive things to say about flaming blades. Still looks awesome though.

When you throw the blades DONT LET GO OF THE CHAINS. You let the chains slide down your hand giving you control of how long and how crazy the chains can get. Keep em short unless going for a twirl and you can end the twirls by slamming em on the ground. Watch how Kratos pulls on the chains to change their directions and how he lets the weight do all of the work. You seem like you’re fighting the chains and blades to do what you want.

A suggestion for a future improvement - build some elasticity into the chain (eg with bungee or long compression spring). That will give you control of the length (and be as close to the magic of returning as possible).

What could really benefit those blades and the whole weapon throwing fighting style (not sure if it’s effective enough to call a style yet tho) would be some kind of machine or mechanism to reel the chains in and pull the blade back towards your hands.

Cool. I would probably be wondering how much these blades are useful in real life if I was a kid, but sadly I'm not. And then I'm not really a God of War fan. I played the game and it ain't my thing. But here is the ideas for your next videos, if you take any suggestions that is. First one is Prince of Persia bladed whip from Prince of Persia Two Thrones, that protagonist gets at some point and can use it as a weapon to swing it around. Second suggestion is Kung Jin's bow from Mortal Kombat X, that is not just a bow but also a flamethrower on it's upper tip. Third suggestion is, also from Mortal Kombat X, but from another character Takahashi Takeda, who has dual whips that comes down from back of his arms on his suit and he can make a blades to stick out from that whip. And the last suggestion, also from Mortal Kombat, is Kung Lao's hat, that is a razor sharp on the edges and returns back to him after he throws his hat at someone. I don't know if you will be able to recreate any of these, but I decided to suggest it anyways.

Considering the nature of fire poi, I feel like wielding these is less a case of 'they dont work' and more a case of practice, training, and skill. They arent a 'newbie friendly' weapon. But I feel that maybe with some legitimate practice and training, a person might actually be able to make them surprisingly effective.

You think a spherical ball of fire on rope is the same as 2 meters of steel chain with 18 inch flat blades ? Not really the same thing at all , weight distribution , center of mass ,speed , weight to name a few not including having to catch the blades themselves

Hi Tyranth, might do you some good to get some POI training in, the point of balance on chaos blades is ofc different, but if you manage to get the flow on standard POI you might be able to do some advanced moves more fluidly with the blades (even chains are the way to go though for controlling it better, so you dont get offset by the longer one)

Strapping yourself into a chain on each wrist is a good way to render yourself prisoner. I think modified so that you only had one chain extended, the other chain could be wrapped around your off hand wrist like a shaolin monk if not too heavy, to be used if the other chain breaks. Still, attaching a chain to your body is a liability. I suggest attaching the bracers with a rod that connect two halves of the bracer that can be pulled as a quick release. I don't know the technical term for such a device, but I had a pair of boots back in the 90s that worked that way; I could take them off in less than a second and literally jump out of them if I wanted. The question is would you be comfortable and confident enough to yank a bladed weapon towards your shoulders over and over again. I hope you keep going and become more adept at these, and at the end of season two you could share whatever insights further expertise has yielded.
