Jaylen Brown really showing he's worth the bag. Turns out menacing dunks, tenacious defense, clutch scoring, and no left hand can still get your far in life.
I was alluding to Michael Jordan. JB also picked 3rd, got HUGE contract people questioned until he won vs flashy passer nicknamed Magic. * edit no left is a joke 😂
I was his biggest critic about that left hand, but credit where credit is due - dude went and WORKED at it. He’s been driving left all season and even finishing to the left. But it’s become very clear that JB and JT need eachother
I've never been entirely convinced that Tatum is better than Brown. As a Cs fan that's watched their whole careers, they're real double dragons, theyve always alternated in who is dominating the court
It also makes no sense Basketball IQ wise, Luka had actively chosen not to put forth effort on defense all game long and then THATS the moment he chooses to try wnd draw a charge?? You HAVE to be smarter than that. Youre forcing the refs to make a call and after you have cussed them out ALL game theyre not gonna be feeling very willing to do you a solid
Is everyone forgetting that Luka shows up to games in bandages Multiple bandages This brother has been playing this entire playoffs injured and severely drugged up to play So I can see why the team doesn't scream at him to defend when his body only has energy to attack It's up to the coach to hide him better Literally game 2 they spent 5 or so minutes unwrapping bandages around his chest Then there is his knee too
It's weird how similar these finals are to last year's finals. A powerhouse team runs through their conference despite a pervasive lack of confidence in them as contenders (nuggets last year, celts this year) and they go up against a lower seed underdog who overperformed the whole playoffs and whose role players waited for the finals to finally come back to earth (heat last year, mavs this year).
I remember dudes like ticket was sayin the heat gonna beat the nuggets than he said the mavs were finna destroy the Celtics because of Kyrie Irving lmaoo
At least the Heat could take a game against the Nuggets. Hell, two injured Heat and Cavs teams both took a game off of Boston this year, and the Pacers choked multiple wins away. The Mavs in this year’s Finals are just putting forth an even more pitiful display than any of those teams.
A week? Try years. This channel is great but always found funny how the anti mainstream media channels chilled for doncic. Hes flaws were always too plain to see.
@@prod.youngsensai tell me something is it all on him if the team loses? What about Ky who was ineffective for a good part of this series till last game. What about the rest of the team like gafford Washington and Lively who helped pushed this run crickets on them. But Luka doing all he can to keep them in the game makes one mistake it’s all on him playing through multiple injuries. Luka is amazing but he’s not a perfect player some of y’all just need to accept that and in a TEAM SPORT it’s on the TEAM not the superstar 24/7
Jokic has similar problems though. Not sure if it’s as bad as Luka but there are offensive stars that struggle in defense. I really rate though guys like Tatum and Brown. Might not offensive skilled as Luka but they are playing championship level by playing defense.
@@javierlandaverde4108 DJJ, PJ and Gafford/Lively are much better than Jrue, White and Porzingis/Horford. Only if you believe that to be true can you blame Luka alone for the Mavs losing. Luka's defense is bad, but with Celtics level role players he would still be bad defensively and could win.
Crazy how fast everyone turns on Luka. Had a historic season, kept his team in the running even when they were crippled with injuries, had only been with this starting lineup for 4 months, got injured 3 games into the playoffs but kept playing through multiple injuries, and still led his team to the finals as a 25 year old. He hasn’t even reached his peak. He also was the only player that showed up offensively in games 1&2, and yeah that takes a lot of energy that he has to sacrifice on the defensive side combined with his injuries. And in game 3 it was only him and Kyrie offensively so again they’re having to expend a lot of energy on the offensive side.
No one is turning on him. They are holding him accountable. It’s a difference. A big part of why fans feel this way, because if the way fans view the games via offensive stats . They don’t value defense, and can’t understand how Luka’s ball dominate style on offense, creates stats but doesn’t make teammates better. No one hates on Luka while pointing out his weaknesses. I will say this now ~ Luka will NEVER win a championship playing this style of offense, and if he doesn’t get in better shape, and compete on defense. Fans will 💩on Tatum all day long and use his offensive stats, to criticize him, while he’s playing great all around … But fans are so delusional and don’t know the game, when their favorite player is rightly criticized, they will automatically BLAME everyone else. This narrative on Luka will continue, until HE changes
You shouldn’t have to sacrifice anything on the defensive side of the ball at the age of 25 & in the most important series of your basketball career, especially when your considered at worst a top 3 player in the league . There should be no excuse for lack of effort .. it’s the finals !!!
What its crazy is how long it took to see hes flaws. Great player for highlights & padding stats. Btw, dont have any problems with players like doncic. Bit when chill doncic channels like thos started to compare him with Bird, i took offense. 😀
I do believe that Luka could give more effort defensively, 100%. On the other hand, i can't expect a player to be his entire team's offense and at the same time have the energy to defend all of the time. Especially against such a stacked team as the Celtics. Edit: Are people blind, or do you just ignore the first part of my comment saying that he could 100% give more effort? I'm not saying he shouldn't. I'm saying that, when your role players suck literal ass in most of the series and they can't make a dunk to save their fucking life, being reliant on to score possession after possession won't allow you to be on your best condition in defense. Especially when you best teammate defender is PJ Washington.
other players have done it. he’s an all time great talent so that’s bs imo. he’s not being asked to become jrue holiday his effort is just nonexistent on D
I give Luka some slack. Like you said being the teams offensive hub and engine but you didn’t mention him dealing injuries the entire playoffs (he definitely looks better now but still lost his first step) and getting absolutely bullied being forced to defend against JT and Browns relentless attacks.
Bro people not expecting him to be a stopper. But you see on film right there…He falling asleep on defense that has nothing to do with offensive out put.
@@angel-lp2ku other teams literally dont do it. Like you cant name a single team who is as reliant on offense as Luka who has to consistently guard JB and JT level talent But you are right about his effort though. Even if he cant defend good he should still try.
They exposed nothing. They just win because they are better, because they are working on this moment for years, Mavs came herre from 11 place in the west to 5 and than to the final....and they are together for F O U R M O N T H!!! Mavs are great, just not as Celitcs, but they will be....don't worry!
You’d think the average Celtic fan just started watching this year the way they are shocked how media narratives worked. It happened to Lebron, Steph, KD, Giannis, and Jokic before you. Please end this victim narrative.
I think is a mix of bad media and people actually realizing how good the Celtics are. The entire season it was “championship or bust” then through the playoffs it was “Mickey finals run”. Now that they are playing a battle tested team (that many people had over the Celtics coming into this series) it’s very clear, to everyone, who’s the better team.
Celtics literally had the best betting odds to win the chip the entire year. Who are you even arguing with because more people thought the celtics were winning than anyone else.
Only valid point he had was mainstream media not liking doncic. This channel being oblivious to doncic faults its unjustifiable. At least the finals opened hes eyes. Wonder if doncic its interested in doing some maturing to be an actusl contender. Or if hez inner circle will held him accountable for once.
Even if Luka was playing at an all defensive level, Mavs aren't winning this series. They just don't have enough offense outside of Luka and Kyrie if 3s aren't falling from their role players.
I seen the stats at half time and Luka n Kyrie combined for 95% of the points, that's pretty much 2 v 5 out there. That's a coaching issue Joe coaching circles around kidd.
@@EARTHSOUL_Asmyour team is on a 22-2 run they are on fast break it’s a 1 possession game do you call a time out while they are hot ? This allowed the defense to set leading to a missed shot and then your star player fouls out. Went from having a chance to win to lose the game real quick.
@@dukedex5043 Lol, he is historically bad in half of the game. He's maybe the 5th or 6th best player in this series. He would have to score like 40 and 15 assists on high efficiency to even stay net positive for the team with how much he is giving up on the other end.
Everyone was shit talking to the Celtics about Jaylen Brown when he received 300 million contract but in hindsight it paid off as they are going to win it and he is going to be Finals MVP
@@johnmarkson1998Doesn’t matter don’t jump on the train right before the end then when all fails just switch up, makes you look fake. Only casuals would side with mavs anyway as Boston was clearly the best team in the league and finals experience.
@@johnmarkson1998they were wrong to doubt Dallas, what are you smoking??? Most ppl thought this team would be a play-in at most. When they matched the Clippers, Thunder, and Wolves nobody, and I mean NOBODY thought they would win. This wasn’t a champion or bust situation like Boston.
Luka Doncic in the 4th quarter during the NBA Finals: 8 points on 3-15 FG, 0-4 from 3PT, 2-4 FT with 4 fouls and 4 turnovers and a 23.9 TS% The fact that he has disappeared at he end of all three games doesn't help either
So how was he a + 9 for the game? Best on his team? I know +/- not a very consistent stat. But you saying gives you 30 giving up 45 is not even a stat.
The more Luka complains, foul baits, slacks on defense, the lower on my favorite players list he gets. He was 1 for a while. Before the finals, he was 2, behind Ant Man. Now he's 3, behind Kyrie. It's incredibly frustrating to see a player I really like demonstrating traits I don't like in players. He wasn't doing these things as much earlier in the playoffs, but these past 3 games have been egregious.
But how's Kyrie still 2? He's struggling really bad in the finals. The worst thing is when he's struggling, he's not making the right/smart plays and trying to force his shots. Reminds me of his playoff series in boston when had this statline 12/21, 4/18, 8/22, 7/22, and 6/21. And I think he said something like I'll still keep shooting more or something like that after his bad shooting game. That's such a horrible team mentality.
@@mushrifahmed8107 He said that years ago. His mentality has changed a lot since then. And yeah, he hasn't been doing well, but I said that's not why I'm liking Luka less. It's about effort a day the complaining, which isn't a problem with Ky
It's games and series like these that make you appreciate the intangibles of all the other greats before guys like Luka. Definitely not saying that he's a bad player, but he still needs to cultivate those intangibles (leadership, composure, playing with higher IQ) in him if he wants to reach the next level.
He's 25 and you're comparing him to the primes of other all time greats. Lebron was 27 when he looked like a ghost vs the Mavs in 2011. Kobe was 25 when he ran Shaq out of town in 2004. Tatum is 26 this year and he looks like barely got past his finals trauma. Shaq was 23 when he got absolutely schooled by Hakeem in the finals. All I'm saying is give him time, even other all time greats take time to mature.
The lights were too bright for luka nd the mavs, C's deserves this championship more for how many times they felt short year after year nd then the finals but loss man the pain nd criticism they've endured for years is who made them now more experienced nd mentally ready for the moment again
Saying Luka had cost them two games this finals is crazy LOW. Yes I agree his antics were over the top in Game 3 but he’s their entire offense every single quarter this finals run so that is a wild and objective wrong take.
@@kjjr3270 I never said going to the finals is an amazing accomplishment. If you could read, I said he’s the CLOSEST he’s ever been to winning but now the narrative is “he can’t win this way”
@@SaKuL_W After his 2nd regular season they said he wouldn't be able to do it in the play off. After taking clippers to 6 and 7 (at 21,22 years old) with almost no help. They said he can't get out of the first round with that style. Then only player to get his team to the WCF twice in the past 3 years(with basically 2 different sets of teammates) and going to the finals they're saying he can't win like this. If he wins 1 they'll say he can't win multiples. Happened with Jordan, Happened with Bron. Is Luka going to end up with similar careers? He has a chance we shall wait and see. But that's how it always is. They say you won't be able to do it until you actually do it. History has shown that even the greats need certain teammates and coaching and experience to finally get there. But that doesn't stop people of mentioning and blaming every imperfection of players for the m not winning. Would Mavs would have won if Luka shot 14 of 22 with 4 of 8 from 3. 1 turnover and defend amazingly? Probably. But is that realistic? Probably not. Don't get me wrong Luka should have done better especially with the complaining. But it's not like his teammates showed up.
I've been saying this all playoffs. The best defense against luka is to force him to play defense. If you're constantly attacking him, his legs will go shooting splits will drop.
Luka is bruised, tired and dejected. The Celtics are in their flow. It looks like he was told to play defense but he is a bad defender having to carry an offense for 4 choking players in the finals . meanwhile the other team can't miss( even their bench) ugly shots are still going in and their is always someone help defending. I think Luka wants to call it a run and go home but he still has to take this beating the same way he (almost) did the Twolves.
I mean it's hard to stay consistent on offense when everyone on the Mavs have to pick up Luka's slack on the defensive side of the ball because Luka decided to morph into Trae Young
@@robbiedontmiss literally when luka let’s the defense blow by him he’s fuckkng up the defensive rotation… the rotations are constant to be rotated every play but luka doesn’t even try and he doesn’t get back into rotations at all.. it’s like a self sabotage
@@robbiedontmissThey are never consistent anyway this type of offense just doesn’t work and they are lucky to be here. Luka might as well just leave mavs and join a superstar team and get a free ring.
@@JayFlocko Yup but you would think that from their last conference finals run that he would learn from it. Instead he is still doing the same thing of bullying Power Forwards to create space for a bucket then the next play pick up his dribble, run out of options and fall for shooting fouls from a PG that's 50 lb lighter. He complains for fouls for him and his teammate for 3 quarters then wonder why he is being screwed on those fouls in the 4th.
Low had a great point the Mavs need to play way harder. Although the Celtics are choke artist they're practically a allstar team at the end of the day.
His defense has been bad but saying they’re losing the series because of his defense is a casual take. By far and away the main reason is lack of offensive productivity from anyone other than Luka and Kyrie for one game
Worst part is Dallas only a couple plays away from winning 2/3 games played so far. A little effort on defense from Luka and stop baiting for falls. And if someone else could be an actual threat other than kyrie it’d look a little different.
@@SkarM_xwhat other level can Luka possibly take his game to beside improve on defense. All and all Luka is probably always gonna be a mid defender. You need a strong supporting cast.
Damn all yall really hate Luka lol - yall acting like they’re getting blown out but Boston is averaging like 105 pts a game. It’s not a defensive issue, they just can’t score.
Why are the role players out of rhythm? Why did the Miami heat function better when Wade and LeBron played more off-ball instead of one just playing iso ball while the others watched?
"Can you win a championship with a team constructed like this" Yes you can. But there's no NBA player in History thats going to win a championship let alone a series when your co star AND your supporting cast is trash.
The Mavs Coaching staff really needs to step forward and talk to Luka on what he is doing wrong and make him take accountability. They literally need to speak to that man to make him realize what the hell he is doing is losing them the game. He gives them points but his issues in the game are BIGGER and will bring them down. His injuries are making him get frustrated because he is trying to do what he can but damn leaving someone wide open hurts to see fr.
The Doncic line. Minimum defensive rating tolerable given savant level offensive capability. Example: X draft prospect is an iso genius but his defensive liabilities put him below the Doncic line
I think Luka is going to work on his conditioning and build his endurance and lateral movements. I think you are being justifiably critical but to Lukas credit, he did improve defensively, I have faith he will improve further. I do also agree with him. They, haven't played a team as good as a well rested Celtic squad. If Luka gets conditioned he has the hands and frame to be a good defender
I remember moments in that Minnesota game where he had the crowd stunned how well he was staying in front of edwards and others. I just don't think he has the endurance l (capacity) to play 2way yet.
@@Sevion825 there was no point that ppl saw the two opposing rosters and thought “yeah the Celtics can stop the warriors”. There was too much scoring for the warriors and not enough versatility for the Celtics. But hey if you wanna rewrite the past be my guest.
@@simple45679 Poole, Wiggins, Curry, Klay, they even had Draymond doing well and Looney played his best ball when we didn’t even have a big at the time. All the Celtics had was Brown and Tatum to score, and Tatum still avgd 22, 7 and 7 at 24 years old. What are YOU talking about he didn’t show up?
The Mavs are just wayyyyy to reliant on Luka and Kyrie. I really don't think that style of basketball can cut it anymore. As much as you want to point fingers at Luka, let's be real here, he is already being asked to do way too much on offense and still expect him to do good defensively? Very few superstars are able to be both the anchor on offense AND defense. The Celtics are the complete opposite where Tatum can have a lackluster series and they can be without their star center and STILL be a very very good team. The Nuggets were also like the Mavs a couple years back when Murray was injured and without Gordon, the Mavs need to add more depth, Washington, Gafford, and Lively are a good start and maybe they can develop more, remember this team was basically formed in February.
I just wanna point out that great players like Tatum, Luka, Jokic and Giannis will never make it to 8 straight finals. People need to start appreciating how difficult that accomplishment was and give Lebron his credit.
Definitely going to be hearing some surgery/injury news on Luka once the series is over. Probably legit but Luka needs to use that cover to hit the gym, work on his defense, and work on not bitching after every call. Big storyline next year will be how Luka responds.
All the Luka haters comin out of their holes, actin tough when theyr up. Like it or not he is the best player in the world right now and he is gettin dissrespected by the mainstream media(who still dont wanna learn to say his name right), yt nobodies, fans and referees. If he would get the respect and the calls he deserves he wouldnt be complaining. Remember how protected the selfproclaimed king Le Bully used to be. Luka should have 20 free throws a game, cause nobody can stop him clean. But the NBA doesnt want a white, non american in the future goat conversation and he is being sabotaged at every step. What he has done in his young career with the teams and the coaches he had is a miracle. Not responding to halfwit comments!
It’s almost over for Jokic too. Neither one takes good enough care of their body. Jokic will last a tad longer because of his size but he will be exposed for his lack of physical conditioning soon enough
man we speaking like mavs lost in round 1, this is the finals, of course the can win at a high level. they are a few pieces short, i agree luka could use to lose some weight and work on effort. but this is the finals (his first finals) the man is gassed and playing injured lets not act like he is 100% (i know none of them are) but we are over reacting. celtics clearly had the easier road to this event and it’s showing
Jason Kidd rotations in this finals have been wrong since game 1 and it seems like their game plan every game was the same none of the other players really had roles other than rebounding
I feel like people are really overreacting to the Mavs. They made it to the finals when they weren’t meant to. Surely if they’re able to compete in the finals, all they’ll need to improve is a big that is a bit better offensively and a wing that is the same level defender as they have now, and a bit better of a shooter and another guard that can create off the bench
Not giving Luka excuses, but we've seen him play good effort defense in these playoffs go to the clipper series, but we love to forget. But he's HURT, come on LOW. I know we all saw Luka bandaged up coming into the game looking like the SpongeBob character thst breaks his bones in the morning and night. Yes he's playing bad defense because hes got two hella lower body injuries, defense is about lateral quickness and he just can't right now. Yes can he do more, but im not gonna just ignore the fact he's all broken up
@@MLC719 12/26 was considered a good night when Luka was putting it up but when Tatum does it it’s considered a bad night. Obviously Tatum shot bad in the first two games but now when JT has what was considered a good night, it’s still considered bad because it’s JTs name next to it and not Luka.
To be fair he’s admitted multiple times that the defensive plan is to drive the offense player into the paint but I do agree he should show more effort and actually trying to stop the person instead of letting them run by him bad knees and ankles smh
Low I have a question do you think brown could be a top 10 sg of he keep this up his two way play is already better than ray Allen and Reggie and he is already a going to win a fmvp and already won a conference mvp
Jaylen brown been the best player on the floor with Luka kyrie Tatum due to the way he closed the Dallas run with his two way play like game 1 his monstrous defense and offense kept the mav from coming back and game 2 he hit the game clinching and game 3 he hit the dagger midrange shot and brown wants it more than anybody else and he been the most efficient and elite defender he frustrated Luka with his defense got him out of his zone and killing him on offense
here to let people know that defense has not been a problem for the mavs the series.. celtics have had the lowest off rtg since april and luka getting blownby is covered up in the offensive scheme (in fact tatum and brown "cooked" him on the perimeter but then tell me whats their %inside the paint again? both lower than 48%) real problem is luka complaining too much allowing easy buckets in transition and mavs cant buy a bucket on open 3s ... as soon as pj and green both made a 3 mavs went on a 22-2 run
what are the mas role players shooting in this series? like 28% or something? the mavs have been a 1 man show most of this series. The star always gets blamed but this series isnt on luka or his defense its on the fact the role players on dallas are non existent on offense.
Bro Luka has been injured all playoffs and carried his team to the finals while carrying the entire offensive load. How can you expect him to defend at a high level while doing all ofnthat
Just seems to me Luka is banged up and getting upset because he can’t do more, which is understandable. The should’ve been 1-1 heading back to Dallas of his teammates hit a couple more threes or if we had a Kyrie game in either one of those games. Doesn’t make his constant whining excusable, but if I had multiple injuries and couldn’t play at my best during the most important moment of my life I’d be hella frustrated too.
It should really have been a niggets vs celtic finals in my opinion, Twolves had no business being in the WCF, they built their roster just to stop nuggets which worked but it messed up the whole competition a lil bit.
This series showed us that if Luka doesn’t have the ball in his hands, he’s simply just useless. His defense, his off ball movements, his intangibles are just lacking severely.
