Good stuff bro! I sell nucs and queens on a very small level and always let my queens lay up a slab of brood so i can see that pattern. I never hear back from people about junk queens from me and i never have a problem introducing my own stuff. I’m not offended by your $60 price tag

Excellent video but I think the video started right after you were discussing the importance of having an established laying queen. According to Bob Binnie (and I don't remember what book he said he got this from) laying queens introduced at 7 days old are immediately rejected over 70% of the time and of those that are accepted they are superseded within 15 weeks over 85% of the time. At 21 days the success goes up to over 80%. At 35 days over 90% are accepted.

Bob Binnie has posted multiple times Brother Adams findings (I believe) about 14 day queens have a 56% acceptance rate…..and 21 day queens have 87%…..if memory serves me correctly.

Good luck with the VHS, I hope it works out because we need something to control the mites. That being said the VHS premiss does not make since to me.

What about it is confusing? It’s selective breeding based on a desired trait. Same thing people do with purebred dogs, cows and horses.

I understand what you are saying. but the way I see it is if you are having 1000 eggs laid a day and they are pulling out 300 pupa a day due to mites they have done wasted the 300 pupa plus all the energy and resources to grow the pupa to that stage. It has to weaken the hive. To me just treat and you saved the 300 bees a day plus all of the energy and resources. I hope what you are doing works and time will tell. We sure need something.@@Ashby_Farms_NC

Good talk, makes a lot of sense. Just curious on how you know it is 24 days when the number of days between emerging, getting mated and start laying is variable?
@Ashby_Farms_NC
@Ashby_Farms_NC 11 месяцев назад
Variability is a concern….As long as the weather is good, she will fly somewhere between day 3 and day 7. By day 24 we see her first round of brood emerging, or we can sample some to get an idea of how long she’s been laying based on what stage pupa we see.

2nd. 👍 $60.00 doesn't seem high to me for higher quality and better transparency. I have queens reserved that are $75.00 each. They are close to where I live and I believe they use a 21 day evaluation period. Thanks for this video, I saw a video on that style of queen interdiction. That is what I plan on doing this next season, oh ya it was Cory thanks for reminding me.

@@zarkobojanic2141 I'm sorry I don't sell honey so I can't answer that personally. Depends on jar size and location.
