Without that video game those guys can't fish, they have no skills, no knowledge of finding fish or catching them, only on video game, ban the video game then see if they're any good
Without FFS there is no doubt most of the rookie class from the last 4 years would be in a 9 to 5. I just don’t understand why they continue to allow it. I’m getting a new bass cat for my sons senior year High School fishing tournaments. Well that’s the excuse I’m telling myself anyway he’s begging for FFS. I refuse to do it. I love new technology but this to me is over the top. Why haven’t they at least banned it in high school fishing? I have had the opportunity to use it and it’s fun but it’s not the same to me.
@@user-bq9tw8lt5lDefinitely wouldn’t mind them trying no ffs for a couple of seasons. I think that would put to bed the argument about ffs. Older seasoned pros versus young pros!
I was a young police officer in a major city and had to go through 14 weeks of field training with two different senior officers. At the end of the training, both trainers told the training supervisor that I was “cocky.” The supervisor, who had observed many of my interactions over the 14-weeks, told both trainers that they needed to learn the difference between cocky and confident. I see that in your story about starting as a 23-year rookie bass fisherman, just like Tiger Woods said when he first started. “I never entered a tournament with the goal of finishing second.” Cocky or self-confident?
@@dualthreatoutdoors what rules have been repeatedly broken? If rules are ACTUALLY being broken, why has he not been DQ'd? Or is most of the talk people being jealous that he won the second professional event he fished and was leading AOY until he was late and missed the most recent cut?
I like ya Randy, you are a legend in the sport, and i watch your old tournaments, but leave people alone, man!! Either that or become a psychologist to the pros one..
Hey, Randy suggestion on a future video/videos. Since you're searching for a new boat, how about giving us a peek into your search. Something like you did when you were looking for new reels. I believe this would be great if you did like a series on the search, pros and cons of what like and dislike as you look at boats.
@@randyblaukatintuitiveyou can borrow my Shipper moisture meter and snap-on compression tester. Meet you at the bass pro catalog outlet any day. Happy to help
Its easy to call someone cocky without giving examples on why you think they are cocky. Even in your case, how is not being intimidated by others who are on the same level as you, considered being cocky? Also, rather than just saying that someone has repeatedly broken the rules, why not give examples of what rules they actually broke. Running a no wake zone is the only official rule that had been broken other than someone recently being late....which in both of those instances, the angler in question was disciplined accordingly. There is a lot of jealousy in the sport...
It's not just Tournament guys it's alot of these guy's who think their Gods Gift to Bass fishing with dark sunglasses and a high dollar boats ACTING like Their better than anyone else.Ii promise I can out fish most of them.
Wise words and thank you, Randy. “Humbleness and Respect” is what I teach my young son. He’s only ten, however a great little fisherman. Now that he’s 10yo, his big step is this year is a round reel which is the Abu 5500. He will learn to control the round reel before he is introduced to the nimble, easier to use, modern bait casting reel. Meanwhile I will keep drilling him with humbleness and respect, and teaching him to be responsibly cool.
Well Done! I was humbled in 1990 at Bull Shoals as an Am, drew Bitter, Moseley, Mitchell, and the Zell. That was EPIC, CHANGED MY LIFE! Like you said, ALWAYS RESPECT, the Legends like yourself, who actually taught you how to Fish. I can honestly say, what Jim, God Bless his Soul, Randy Moseley and ZELL taught me, you CANT replace that with FFS. I have a DEEP respect for all of you, from the late 80's, VERY fortunate, to have been able to do 4 BP s as an A. Made lifelong friends, learned invauluable techniques and baits. I have a few pics of you from that event if you want them. Cheers Randy!
Im 52yrs young and enjoy seeing the youngsters coming along. But take them back to the time before ffs and active target. Give them a flasher and a eagle supra pro id n let's see what happens
Have always said it's not winning or losing its how you handle both and how you carry yourself. If they all carried thier self like some of the older pros like Hank Parker they would be a much better fisherman
Take a look at the TPA, no ffs tournament. Not a lot of younger guys fished it. There are a few who did. Might be coincidence, but the majority of guys who fished it have years of experience fishing without ffs. Would like to see these young rookies go fish that tournament. TPA, restricts waypoint to only those made during the 3-4 hr ride around and on tournament days. If these rookis fished that and did well, then I would say they are not just spotlighters.
I have a couple cocky nephews this 58 year old had to straighten up just splitting firewood of all things. “Don’t let your mouth write checks your dumb ass can’t cash” is what my daddy would tell me. 😂
Gen X’er, anti FF guy here. Around the topic of cocky young pro’s. I have watched vids with Kyle Patrick, Tyler Williams, Trey Mckinny and JT Thompkins… listen they are good, they study their electronics, no doubt, they spend more hours on the water than I ever could, and yes, they are afforded that opportunity, no doubt… they are wired different than me… but all that said, I have not seen an ounce of cockiness from them. They are 19, 20, 21… I have never heard them speak bad about anyone, been very respectful, even humbled by the opportunity. At the same time, they are finding their identities, on and off the water. They are encouraged to be who they are and for the most part, it’s working for them. I don’t know anything about what I don’t see, but I guess I don’t see what you see in them. Simply my humble opinion. Love the vids and keep up the great work RB!
I agree with you on the other 3 but Mckinney is definitely NOT humble. He blew off Swindle and has been involved in 2 incidents of rule breaking already! He's going to have a short career unless his mommy teaches him some ethics. Also you left out Hamner, another young guy who is personable. He is 31 but only a pro 2 years.
Bass fishing is so knocked down right now, young guys 19 are winning small fortunes, with no experience, learning on video games,22" wide screens, amazing boats, never worked, fishing alongside guys with 20+ years of learning of course it's going to create animosity, people at home want something they can relate to,these ffs proponents, RU-vid talking heads saying KVD'S record first aoy in 92 is no different from the rookie that's going to win it this year, the host said I must be a follower of Randy,I said give the rookie what was available in 92,a flasher and a paper graph,I guess time will tell.
It sucks that it seems force to go ffs but for a guy trying to fill a freezer it's works and if I'm able to stay competitive cause someone else is running ffs it is what it is ! I have a lot of respect for you Randy have for years but you been beating hell out of this topic for awhile now love to see a bait for July and August talk
The forward facing unit should be limited to no fishing poles in the boat, research only, and not allowed with tournament fishermen 1 week before an event. Research Only everywhere.
While I agree some of these rookies are a little over zealous, with the tidal wave of abuse they’ve endured from guys like you and other veterans simply because of the tech they use, they’d be well within their right to amp it up some. Guys like you put them into full defensive mode and as they find their footing they’re going to start pushing back.
It’s the generation, not just fishing. Watch any pro sport and there’s just no respect for the game anymore. Why would they be respectful with the way they’re raised.
How about the art form of using FFS? Every pro has FFS and the young guy's are smoking everyone with it. It's not some magic cheater box. It's an art form like any other technique you talk about. Some guys just have more skill than others...
@@randyblaukatintuitive No actually it’s not. It’s completely legal at the moment. You of all people should know that much. Stop being so childish and present yourself like an adult.
@@randyblaukatintuitive how can something skill based be cheating? You just don't like it because it's different than the way everyone has caught them in the past. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's cheating.
@@randyblaukatintuitive it seems like fair chase to me if everyone isn't able to replicate the results. It would be different if everyone was able to catch every fish, like fishing with dynamite. It's not that easy, so I don't understand how it's not fair chase? I've been skunked multiple times using my Livescope. Have you ever actually used FFS Randy? I appreciate you being able to have a civil discussion about the topic Randy. I watch all your videos even if I disagree on certain subjects. 🙏
Yet viewership is at an all time high. Per FS1 numbers. Broke the record this past Sunday... You think they are tuning in for the "old" pros. 😂 They are tuning in to watch cutting edge technology catch fish, and you old heads can't stand it. Gotta love capitalism!
Have you ever noticed Bassmaster say they break the record every tournament?...like every tournament over the past 10 years. Don't believe everything you read
I’m surprised you didn’t get deleted and blocked for your support of capitalism. He and his minions prefer socialism by over regulating and banning things he doesn’t agree with.
@randyblaukatintuitive FS1 Nielsen TV ratings disagree with your assessment. In your world and mind, you don't want this to be true, because it doesn't fit your agenda. Tournament viewership and attendance are up for BASS. Your fear mongering because you're upset over technology. No one's buying lures.😂 Just stop. Tell that to my local Bass Pro. They are always stocking and selling all types of lures.
Forward facing sonar should not be allowed in tournament fishing. Fish like old school with sonar that comes with the boat. I've fished for years without any kind of sonar. Great job Randy your an old school fisherman 👍🏻
I had kids on the job like that 2 nd yr apprentice tells me been there done that while I'm laying him out on what I wanted . Needless to say he effed it up . If you can't back it up then you're cocky.
Randy give it five years. Mother nature always corrects itself. Saw it with floating worms, spinner baits aren't as hot, and the jig n pig isn't as good as it used to be.
@@DennisMorgan-ls8scexactly. This guy is always crying about ffs taking money out of the old school hammers accounts but he's trying to stop the young guns from making money because he doesn't like the technology.
Anybody out throwing a Sluggo over shallow 5ft rocky points? - Does anyone throw ajig and pig?- Carolina off a weedline drop off- Slow roll a 3/4 Strike King Spinner with a Cup blade? - Drag a grub with a weedless jig head thru 3ft weeds just off the shoreline? - Thrown a shallow diver along a morning shoreline with the water as smooth as glass??
It’s hard to respect the older guy if he calls them cheaters, spotlighters, and flatbillers. The older guy has to be the adult in the room. How would you feel if someone called you “fanboy”?
I don’t care how much experience you have as pro bass angler, put them on a stream in the mountains with just a hook and a bobber and let’s see what experience they really have. They don’t have ballz to face their own craft on what they proclaim.
i do not like the LS technology. However. my grand dad did not like my dad’s humminbird flasher. my dad did not like my Eagle graphs. They both thought the latest technology was cheating”. jus”sayin…..:

Sorry to break it to you but technology isn’t going away either. It’ll only get better! @@TheSwaffs if u were born & raised as a cheater, go for it...I was NOT & if u believe FFS is just "technology of today", then that says alot about your level of intelligence
KVD early on in his career was known for being cocky! I believe it was a Bassmasters doc saying this. There’s a difference between being confident and cocky.
Assuming this is referring to BASS...whos cocky? Surely this isn't referring to the KcKinney/Swindle deal?!?!?!?! What a load of crap if it is. There's too many unknown details regarding that. Besides, it's too minor of a deal to keep exhuming. While you woke up dwelling on it and crying (evidentially), the people who were actually involved have probably moved on. McKinney just turned 18 for goodness sakes. The Lord will make sure he, or anyone else for that matter, get's humbled, so you don't have to spend any more time losing sleep over it. Good, Lord!
Randy - I completely agree with you BUT... The FFS part is almost irrelevant and diminishes your point. I didn't even realize how dependent McKinney (or Millikan) was on FFS before I decided he was a DB... As I recall, J-Wheeler was headed down this same path and got "talked to" by a few pros. He listened and changed his attitude. That's when he really took off - and began getting respect. It had nothing to do with what he was throwing or how he fished. It is more basic than that. That being said, I agree with your FFS position (mostly) as well.
You have to be a little bit cocky to succeed in life. But you also gotta be able to self analyze as well. If you're going out there without the mindset that you're the best of the bunch and expecting to win, then you're just settling for also ran.
its all a result of spotlighting bass. I don't doubt that any of them can beat me with FFS, i have a 360, but beyond that, i have no desire to use one. beyond that at the age of 70, there is no way those FFS rookies could hang with me, let alone Randy FFS is BS!
100 thousand dollar bass boat dark sunglasses Will never make Cocky Punk's out there Bass Fisherman.I see them all the time at boat ramps all over Texas
I think we need a senior bass tournament trail like golf.i fished alot of bigtime tournaments ,if you arent at least somewhar cocky you shouldnt being fishing in them.
Be humble like KVD was. This new generation is exactly that, the new generation. The new generation is applying that which was introduced to them and they’ve been brought up with technology so it's easy for them and it fits how they use technology day to day. Would you expect loggers from the 60’s to call new generation loggers cocky because the technology is so advanced for them. It’s not so much cocky as it is generational culture. MHO
If you like and want to help these young pros with good advice they will never watch a video that starts with “cocky rookie pros” calling them flat billers, spotlighters and talentless is only going to make things much worse. Our country has become so progressive the younger generations do not respect any adults and the chickens have come home to roost. When I was a kid if I disrespected an adult I got my ass beat and learned my lesson. Look at the way kids can talk to teachers today, if I had done that in school I would have gotten my ass beat at school and even worse when I got home. The problem starts at home. Time out ain’t working but taking time out to beat there ass does. Best way to deal with cocky fisherman is to beat em at their own game, but oh wait….
Randy After an EMP or LONG Term Grid Down these RUDE SPOTLIGHT Fishermen will get whats due them & the OILY Guys catching Bass will be the Old School Guys
FFS is like spot lighting deer? That cracks me up...when you spot light deer you don't have to trick the deer into eating the bullet. Nothing new about making money by just stirring the pot. It's been a technique people have used for a very long time. That gets no respect in the end either
Why should rookies respect elders that disrespect them? Also the years of knowledge can be learned relatively fast with the thanks of google and RU-vid. Many things that we thought about bass fishing have been debunked by technology
Spot on Randy. Id like to see these hipsters in there Joe cool fishing clothes fish for eight hours with a thermos of well water and a can of anchovies without crying for a energy drink and protein bar.
I would be willing to bet that any one of the rookies could go on a body of water and kick everyone’s ass that is on here talking shit about them. Without using FFS. You have to remember that they have been fishing for years prior to having it.
Instead of saying "FFS is their (young anglers) ambilocal cord to success", you could say that the inability to learn and adapt to methods (technology) to catch more and bigger fish are the reasons other fishermen are not as competitive. It's really all dependent on the body of water and conditions. Imagine being a young rookie who really has excelled at fishing and learning new tech, and then having to deal with their competitors bashing their existence in the league ALL THE TIME. Their success is completely dependent on the FAILURE of others to adapt and change. PERIOD. So, in essence, people like you are literally paving the path for them due to their inability or because they don't want to "spotlight." I completely understand that those skills previously required to compete are cherished by many as a craft of sorts. So, I get why so many elect to stick with the old ways. Until FFS gets pulled from professional leagues, I'd be out on the water learning to "spotlight" as much as possible so I could stay as competitive as possible. Like it or not, Randy, there's MORE fish offshore, and FFS has opened up the lake tremendously. Maybe all the decades of beating the banks have caused fish to evolve and live offshore. I do, however, think FFS should be banned in co-angler tournaments like opens/BFL/IBF/FLW. Now, for co-anglers to compete, they would need to carry a mobile FFS unit and hopefully be permitted by the boater to use it. If not, their fishing in a desert. I always appreciate your content and just wanted to give a different opinion.
Intitlement ,confrontational, work ethic, rudeness unfortunately is the new norm in todays society . What is right is wrong and wrong is right. Not just in bass fishing !
When my son was maybe about 10 years old, he was talking about a newcomer (I forget the topic…I think it may have been a Fortnite player 😂) was so much better than Ninja and how ‘trash’ Ninja is at the game. While it was only about a video game, I did not like the disrespect for the ones that paved the way for this newcomer to succeed. I explained to him an example of comparing a blacksmith that was the best at his/her craft in the 1300’s compared to the best one of today. Is it fair to say the blacksmith of today is ‘better’ than the one from the 1300’s? Today’s would be building on all of the experience of all blacksmiths before him/her, has the internet with more information on the topic you could ever hope to absorb, and 700ish years of newer technology to do things better, faster, and easier. My whole point in it was for my son to at least have the respect to the ones that came before you, because they literally paved the road you are walking on that they walked when it was only dirt.
Say what you want about the rookies but these guys are hammers. It’s never been harder to get into the B.A.S.S elites than it is right now. The opens are absolutely brutal with 200 boat fields and the fact that you have to fish all 9 and either win one or have enough points at the end.
If FFS fishing is so easy like spot lighting why can't the veterans use it and compete I mean really at least Rick Clunn one of the greatest has the right attitude and don't give me it's a money thing have you seen the price of boats and tackle if your a pro you can afford FFS ..learn it or get lapped it's crazy the excuses people make 😂
@@user-iy6rz1eq9x not everyone was born & raised a cheater...many anglers respect the sport of fishing & the limited resource, the fish...it's very obvious FFS & respect for the sport/fish don't go together
Wrong again.....I like them young fellers out there showing out. A lot of these young pros have been fishing since they could make a cast. Why dont you just go ahead and stamp trey McKenney name on this piece ?
This younger generation leaves a lot to be desired across the board. It's not just cockiness. Be interesting to see how it all shakes out for them in 20 years or so. I don't see it ending well.
Go listen to the bass after dark podcast when Ben Milliken attacked Randy for being anti livescope. It pissed me off listening to Ben degrade fishing because of his lack of knowledge of fishing.
I'd like for you to know this, the path to the pros is much different now, the old way to the pros like you went to is over and will never be back. Kids are getting new boatrs in High School and college. Then they have all that info you old guys sell out on the web, through RU-vid, and they have technology. So you and all the other old school pros give away all your secrets and then you add youth and technology and its the new way. Livescope or not it will never change.Sorry. I wish you could understand that. I always said talk is cheap, challenge a rookie to a 1v1.
also gotta add in, at least for the Elites, that instead of just having to be good for 3 tournaments in one very specific region you now have to prove yourself over 9 Opens which essentially mimics the Elite Series season by competing from the Great Lakes to Florida. They ultimately have a better idea on how an Elite season will play out because they didn't just fish the Southern Opens.
Let’s talk about the general douche baggery that is taking over bass fishing across the board. Not just a few young “pros” but every meatus who has a nitro or a skeeter fishing a Thursday night jackpot acting like they are on the Bassmaster elite trail. It’s turned into a dick jumping contest at the ramp.
BASS AOY top 10 avg. age 24.2 ; 2 over 30 (if you leave old man Cory Johnson 39, avg age 22.5) top 20 avg age 28.9 with another 5 over 30 and a 61 year old.
They aren’t on tour to make friends. And the rules you speak of being broke were self policed because he’s a stand up guy lol and they use technology because that’s what it takes to be competitive. As for the 120k boat truck etc etc that’s also part of the game now.. I don’t like that boats are the prices they are. But they have to have them. But hey I’m glad they help you get views. You should be happy to see others winning and doing well instead of constantly dragging all the “scopers” in the ground lol
Trey is confident and I wouldn’t say cocky. He has made some mistakes such as learning curve. That dude could survive with or without FFS and still be very very good.
