@@c50ge Agreed. I once had a 600 acre lake all to myself for several hours, just me and my kayak. It was a super quiet and almost windless day. Water dripping off of my paddle was often the only sound to be heard. It was also very cold but there's heat in those paddles if you get after them just right. I was fortunate enough to have a camera with me, so it was a beautiful and documented event. Lol! : )
man what an awesome project!! I still can't believe that engine, that whole thing should have been a paperweight after 30 years. seeing that (Formerly) sunken boat cruise across the lake like that really made my day...
Bring a blue tooth speaker with ya when the owners come in for a ride....so you can play the same Van Halen album they were listening to when it went under...
I really enjoy watching your videos. You have a great bunch of friends in your life and that's a real blessing. I hope your neighbors know just how lucky they are living next to you. So many projects to play with. Stay safe live happy.
Great Story..! TEARS....And more TEARS..! I sank a boat during a race back in the 70's. Spent 14 months to recover and learn to walk again. I did not have anyone onboard with me... woke the next day in the hospital. Many years later, I purchased another boat while I was building engines for a local speed shop. I spent about 1-1/2 years building. Every part had to be re-made. End result was a 502BBC, Blown, V-Drive, K-Boat. Took the wife out a few times...she preferred her slower boat. Been sitting in the garage for the past 2 or 3 years now. Maybe put back on the water one more time. My other project of many.... 1958 Ford, 4whl, Original other than 400M motor as the old 292...no power. Merlin... I like the way you do things..! " It's just Metal "
Excellent series. Thanks for posting. The sound of that big block Ford...after 30 years. (Be interested to see your team crack the oil filter after a few hours of run time...)
Coolest channel on RU-vid for gear heads I’m telling you all right now can’t wait to see the old dodge brothers truck come back the curiosity of the tandem axle is really eating at me haha
Really loved this build, good to see you and your cousins working together, I hope to see more from you both working on different projects. .....Now get that semi finished lol.
Amazing ! Thanks for showing us that''nothing's impossible' if you're willing to work.Look at your 109K Subs already. That shows how well your hard work is being admired.I look forward to many more builds from you.I hope your New Year brings joy and even more adventures to share.
You find a little water in a car engine and you junk it, but when you find a boat and motor that’s been under water for over 30 years you fixer up and you run it👍
This is the last episode before the reveal so tune into @FabRats channel on Wednesday 12/28/22 to see the Reveal, meet the owners, and hear the story of how this boat ended up at the bottom of Lake Powell 30 years ago! Thanks for all your support!
Merry Christmas! The day we celebrate: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
This entire story is absolutely bind moggling !! If anyone ever told me they were going to do this I'd of told them to change up their meds. Great job guys and thanks for an amazing story.
What an AMAZING family, Merlin, Paul and Ben plus their families. The crew Papa Dar, jet ski Jimmy and Hunter, and everyone behind the scenes. Thanks for taking us on this adventure with you. So many uplifting videos come from the Old School Garage and The Fab Rats, please don't stop doing great things!
I don't know spit about boats, but the fact you drug it out of the bottom of a dried out lake and got it to run and float with the engine it went down with is one of the most impressive feats I have seen. well done Merlin!
If you watch the second part of this series in the very beginning of the episode you will see this motor in the background, heat ex-changers and all. They may have swapped the intake over because it looks like the one that was in the background has a cast iron intake. (Hence the oil leak)
My respects to you sir this was amazing to see I can’t even imagine the whole time that was put into it the edited version probably doesn’t do it’s justice, but overall great job fellas 👌🏽
Who would'a thunk it? Not many boats get a chance to see their second maiden voyage. Only this amazing turn of events makes it possible. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
Who’da thought in a million years that same engine would be going back in! Be interesting if one of the major engine builders would jump onboard with a real rebuild. Looking forward to the owners seeing it and relating the story. Guessing the individual sucking on the found baby bottle ain’t no baby no more. Great video, and Merry Christmas Y’all!
I think Merlin is more than capable of building a big horsepower engine. This was a short and fun collaboration between a couple of channels help each other out. Merlin has done a bunch of work for Paul. Wrecker engine for one. Paul was paying him back by sending some subscribers and views Merlins way. More importantly it looked like they had a blast the entire time.
@@b4uracing was more thinkin of it as a opportunity for collaboration, and the examination stage, prior to machining showing people the potential pit falls of trying to resurrect old engines.
It needs serious work in the fiberglass/wood department and the drive/engine rebuilt, but yeah, it’s amazing it works at all! If all they wanted to do was get it running for the videos, mission accomplished! I hope the Fab Rats does the work to get it back to better than new!
Merlin, this HAS been an incredible series. I've seen you on Fab Rat's before and HAD to come over and subscribe to your channel. What an awesome group of people. You all make quite the crew. I hope your channel grows leaps and bounds because not only are you incredibly talented, but you're humble and a very giving person. Thank you for what you do and God bless.
You guys should all be super proud of yourselves. What an amazing and awesome project and job you guys did on this. Can’t wait to see her finished out and the fact that you got that boat back on the water, WITH the original engine power it in this amount of time is stunning. Great job!
Well Merlin you and Fab Rats crew and all your Lake Havasu City reconditioners have done an excellent job. I really was shocked about how well the boat engine worked. Quite the transformation from it's 30 year watery graveyard rest to a fully functioning boat. I am glad that the owners of the boat will be getting it back.
Sir, I am a 61 years young guy, but just the thought of all of you doing what your doing, i am crying like a baby, just knowing that there is such GOOD people in this world, What a Blessing that is for you guys to be able to do the whole yellow submarine build, and to top it of you're going to give it back to the original owners. Heavenly Father please Bless all involved in this Build. Junebug i miss you terribly, My Precious little wife, passed away at 57 years of age on November 28th, 2022. (breast cancer metastasized to the bone) December 24th would of been 34 yrs. 1 thing more to say, Junie was given a 3 to 5 year life expectancy, My precious Junie just passed the 21 years mark, an amazing woman. June i hope your proud of me, Your Husband Steve.
What an amazing job Merlin and Jimmy did restoring the yellow submarine! The motor is back in the boat and works great! Kudos to the Fab rats team and Merlin and Jimmy for all the work to bring this 30 year old boat back to life. What a surprise this will be for the original family to see it float and cruise the lake once again. ❤️
What an incredible chain of events, any thing can be accomplished with diligence and the right people, what a team, can't wait to see the reveal, faith is constantly restored. thank you
This is so INSANE. It's hard to comprehend that this boat was SUNK IN A LAKE FOR 30 YEARS. And they pulled it out, cleaned it up, and took it out for a rip. Bravo guys. This is just nuts
Happy New Year guys, absolutely a great job, can't wait to hear the story about how the Yellow Submarine ended up at the bottom of the lake and presenting the keys back to the original owner.
You Absolutely took the words right out of my mouth... Spot on: Amazing ! Love this build, love this channel, love how Merlin "the wizard" just gets stuff DONE. The growth of this channel is SO deserved !
Howdy from Australia been watching your videos for a while now and enjoy the content you put out Love learning new tips and tricks you show Keep up the great work and always look forward to the next video. Dean
I wonder what the owner is going to do with his boat? It would be nice to see a video on it about the future of it. This was so amazing watching you's build this boat back to almost original.
That original engine was definitely screaming use me for this boat, I'm glad you heard that too, I don't think any engine will be good karma if changed
That is AWESOME Merlin! OMG Can't believe 30 year's on the bottom is now running strong! Very much enjoyed watching the series! You, Jimmy, Paul, Ben, and everyboddy else that helped you're AWESOME!
Unbelievable!!! I am a mechanic by trade, and i am still trying to figure out how that engine didn't let itself be reclaimed to the Earth. After 30 years in 100 feet of water I would have expected a completely rusted solid fusion of metal, Not even mentioning how preserved the rest of the boat was as well. Great story, Great video!! #BuiltByBo
I'm thinking that this should come with a disclaimer. Something to the fact that , results not typically. You can't just pick up a boat after 30 years and throw some gas in it. Well unless it's Merlin....lol great job
@ Joseph Selva - My "theory" on The Yellow Submarine is somebody did a "hasty" rebuild and didn't install a freeze plug correctly and skipped the thermostat, or possibly water in the motor froze and pushed the freeze plug just a little, all before 1993. The freeze plug blew out while running and they now had a 1 1/2 inch water leak that the TINY bilge pump couldn't handle. Even if they shut it off, without a thermostat to block the water, they would sink. The hole would be below water line if they had the whole family AND a baby on board.
Morning Merlin!! Honestly, I don't think there's an engine been made that you couldn't revive-no matter how long or WHERE it's been sitting!!! Such a fun project to watch come full circle to fruition!! ...can't wait to see how the Yellow Submarine is received by her original owners AND hear the story from them on just HOW she went down! (I hope you've kept all the "recovered trinkets" from the boat to give to them. I'm sure the VAN HALEN tape, Medical Card and Baby Bottle full of milk will spark a WHOLE LOT of memories for them!!!) GREAT JOB to everyone involved in this project -- such an abundance of talent in one family (and friends) - never ceases to amaze me!!! Safe travels, friend❤️❤️ Stay FROSTY... Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel... 🇺🇸🇺🇸WWG1WGA🇺🇸🇺🇸NCSWIC🇺🇸🇺🇸
How many subscribers did Merlin have at the very start of the Yellow Submarine series?? It is awesome to see such a quality craftsman getting the subscribers and attention he deserves....This has been an amazing series...I have loved every minute of it....Merlin has to be one of the best mechanics in America. Kudos to Jimmy, Paul and Ben for all the help they have been on this amazing projectt.
All new meaning of "Keeping It In The Family" here. Supporting everyone on their channels and their adventures in building outstanding "Stuff!" Great to see the Yellow Sub do her thing On The Water after thirty[30] years under it. Great job Merlin and the rest.
What an amazing journey this Yellow Sub has been on! All the dedicated generous folks involved, and the nonchalant git-r-done attitudes by old school mechanics. Doubt there are many newer Marine Technicians that would even tackle this project. God Bless you all for the hard work!
With this group of guys and gals working on this thing it’s no doubt it was a complete success! Knowledge is everything and this group has so much to share! Well done crew! And Merry Christmas to Merlin’s Old School Garage!
Merlin is a mechanical Wizard on the all the things he can do. Much respect go out all who had a had in the Yellow Submarine. Merry Christmas. 🎄🎄🎁🎁🍻🍻🥂🥂
Wow...that was fast. You guys could have stretched this out 6 months! I would have been eagerly awaiting a new vid once a week. I really thought it would be a full restoration...and I NEVER would have imagined that same engine, with such little work would be put back in it like that. This is almost unbelievable. I don't think that engine is long for this world, though!
Wow! I'm not a big boat guy (just a dreamer when it comes to big boats) & I will admit I was on The Doubting Hunter boat. lol Everything about this boat project is simply amazing to me & it's awesome what your group of family & friends can accomplish. Thank you for sharing the Yellow Submarine project with everyone.
Great job! I knew you could get her back in running condition. Thank you for your time and dedication to this project. You guys really know how to support each other, and get things done!
Great job guys! It’s a testament to your combined knowledge and efforts that this boat has been restored to its original glory, and survives to provide more thrills out on the water. Congratulations!
I’ve refurbished a few sunken ski boats from fresh water(they were only down a few days ) , but dang 30 years is crazy impressive! Great job guys that was super entertaining 😁
Amazing how Merlin Old School Garage (Merlin, Jimmy, Paul,Ben, Accomplished A GREAT 👍Video Thanx for sharing, Really appreciate You taking the time and Video Have a Merry Christmas 🎅🎄🤶 Great Content and Recovery of the Yellow Submarine 👍God Bless America 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
If you would have told me somebody pulled the boat from the bottom of the lake fixed it and drive it on the lake I would have said bull if I witness seen it with my own eyes 🤣 great job fellas
I had no doubt that you would get it running and floating on the water, but not in record time! If there was ever a job that needed to get done in a hurry you would be the man to do it! This was a fun short saga to watch with lots of laughs. I will watch Wednesday with what i believe to be the end of the Yellow Submarine with Fab Rat's! Good job Merlin with the help from Fab Rat's and Jet ski Jimmy i hope there will be more collaborating with these guys in the future! I will continue to watch your channel as you have content to share. Take care...
